I've been selected for the Hunger Games! I guess that's a bad thing... but maybe it'll teach me some things. My diet is my biggest barrier to progression right now, so that'll be the main focus for this challenge.

 

The 4 Missions:

Defeat Opponents - Complete 3 NFA Body Weight Level 4 workouts each week - /12

I might consider trying my first PvP challenge as part of this... any suggestions?

Save Peeta - Try intermittent fasting for one week

 

Keeping up the exercise and study, and really trying to focus on diet. I thought about doing intermittent fasting for the whole challenge, but I don't think it would work that well - I have a feeling I would eat like a maniac when not fasting, and then actually put on a bunch of weight. So I decided to give it a try as a bonus quest, just to see how it would work for me.

 

Scoring - 90% to pass, zero week is bonus points

 

I really need to be more consistent, especially in my diet, if I want to succeed. So as always,

Bonus: Save Peeta - None yet. Still trying to decide my strategy. The skipping breakfast version is most likely to work, but I hesitate to do it because my protein shake for breakfast is the one automated healthy diet habit I seem to have in place. Also for convenience sake, it would be nice to skip lunch, as I struggle with preparing it. I might try the 2 - 24H fasts in the week to see how that goes

That's true. I think I did need the last week of last challenge and the first days of this one to slack off a bit before getting ready to work. I would feel a bit more comfortable with more bonus points as a cushion, but my last couple challenges haven't really needed them, so it should be ok. 

 

And on the bright side, I'm back down to 259.4 lbs! I'm starting to think the 263 from last week was a glitch, cause this wasn't a three pound loss week, and as bad as the week before was I don't think it was a three pound gain week. So it's nice to be back on the level.

Day to day mine can do that. I've found my weekly ones tend to be a fairly good measure but definitely can get some variation if I eat a big meal Saturday night

Off to work the graveyard shift... Oh boy! Working nights always throws me off with diet things... Do I get to eat more cause I'm awake when I'm normally not? Do I track what I eat on the pre-midnight or post-midnight day? So many questions... 

 

Work out went well today. And mostly eating. I've caught myself sneaking a few mini halloween chocolate bars though... It's very tough when they're sitting right on the table (my wife likes to have a holiday candy jar)

I usually go by my hours of sleeping and that breaks up meal times. Are your graveyard shifts in addition to you working a day shift as well?

I always count overnight stuff as part of the previous day (i.e. it doesn't become tomorrow until I sleep) :)

Sometimes I am working the full day and full night (26H), but right now it's just a night shift (11pm-6am).

 

In the past I've found I'm actually usually not too hungry overnight, even though I'm awake, it's usually more just boredom/doing something to stay awake eating. 

 

Last night I didn't actually eat anything during the shift. I got some breakfast on the way home which I counted toward today, and then slept. I think that makes sense, since I slept through normal breakfast and lunch times. If this was a long term thing I would probably just break it up by sleep, but since it's only two nights I think it'll work. 

 

And yes... Poor Peeta. He doesn't need saving till the end of the book though lol. I'm thinking I might try it in week 3, cause I'll be on a more regular schedule then.

Ugh these night shifts have really thrown me off. I slept almost all day today, and still felt tired and didn't get much done. I've also been eating cookies. I did have spaghetti squash for dinner tonight, which is good, but not doing so great on my goals so far.

So this week has kind of gone from bad to worse... Didn't get my next workout in, and I've been really not eating very well. I don't know why exactly. I'm doing my last shift today though, and then moving to a regular schedule, so hopefully that'll help. Might call a mulligan on this week and start fresh, so that I don't have to deal with the "I've already failed my goals so why bother" monster for the rest of the challenge.

Well I've had a tough go of it these past couple weeks. Really been hard to get back in the saddle. Definitely hasn't helped that it's been snowy and cold and my kids are sick and keeping me up all night. I really wish I was able to not let these things affect me, but alas. 

 

No exercise to speak of, and I've been eating like a fool for the most part. The past couple days I have started trying intermittent fasting. So far it's basically just skipping breakfast, as I continue to eat too late at night, and when I do start eating it's not particularly healthy, but it's a start. 

 

I do hope to get back to it next week. By then the kids should be better, most of the Halloween candy should be gone, and I should be used to the cold. So here's hoping!

Haven't seen you around for a while, hope things are going ok for you.
