Oh that's frustrating on the surgery, sorry. Why so long until you can have it? Woohoo on the sub 30" waist.
Because the specialist is the top surgeon in the country. Other surgeons could do it sooner, but I have a rare version of endometriosis (intramuscular location) near some prominent blood vessels and nerves, so I'm not taking any chances.

Makes sense. It is smart to wait for the specialist. Still frustrating for you.

Over-ate a bit yesterday because I went out to dinner and a movie with a friend, but as it was the first time I'd left the house in 3 days I'm not going to fret over it.

January 25:

Distance = 1.62 (it doesn't seem to register my steps during tango?)

Calories = 1459

Measurements unchanged from last week, but given the lack of exercise and erratic diet I'm not surprised. At least it didn't slip back.

Distance and Calories unknown, but I did reorganise my kitchen

A mixed weekend, but overall feeling better than last week. I'll be ringing the surgeon to get a quote on the cost of having the surgery as a private patient rather than wait for an NHS place, so we'll see how that goes.

It is very inconsistent, though I wonder if part of it is because I'm almost always moving backwards :-)

My husband has the Garmin version of Fitbit, and his hardly registers dance steps at all. I thought maybe it was because of the lack of arm movement, but it could be the moving backwards.

February 1:

Got a letter from the hospital setting my surgery for April 19. They must have had several cancellations, but I'm not going to complain. The sooner this issue is settled the better, as far as I'm concerned. But this does mean I should have no trouble making the trip home in July so hurray!!

The joy in this progress is somewhat tempered though, as I realise that my dance partner for a tango performance coming up will be doing the central flashy bit of the performance with a different partner of a distinctly more dainty build. My partner also happens to be the president of our student tango society, so initially I was quite pleased that he'd chosen me as his partner. However, my self-esteem is not thrilled with being sidelined because I'm apparently too much of a heifer to do simple lifts, especially as it will take the audience precisely 2 seconds to figure this out. Not sure what to do, but words may need to be had.

A bit late with this catch-up, but dance practice has meant I'm getting home later than usual and sleeping later. This is actually a good thing, as I'm sleeping better as well, but it means less free morning time.

February 9:

Went to a food market with a friend and brought cookies to tango practice, so not terrible considering that.

February 15:

Hey folks,

So things went a bit hairy over the last few weeks. I took part in the university's big dance show for charity. I loved the dancing, but some people were real assholes about the fact that I was dancing with our group leader. They seemed to think he should have chosen someone younger and prettier since he set the partners. The real reason was he trusted me to learn the routine on my own so he could focus on teaching the others, but I didn't know that at the time. It was like being back in high school - the dirty looks and passive aggressive jabs - and since I haven't had to deal with that level of petty vindictive behaviour since I left school, it caught me off guard. So I spent a few days feeling like a very sack of wrinkles, then a few more days feeling like I wanted to slap the lot of them. Once those feelings past, a week of horrid winter weather had me fighting with my boiler and fretting over my SO who was snowed in 5 hours away for the whole time.

Now he's home, my brain is feeling better, and I have 6 weeks until my surgery. I would really like to be under 150lbs before I go under the knife, since I'll be off activity for a few weeks while I recover. This means buckling down and pushing myself hard. That means tracking absolutely everything and exercising even when I don't feel like it. Here's hoping my motivation holds out!

March 5:

Exercise = 15 minutes jogging, 15 minutes walking, 20 minutes calisthenics

March 6:

Exercise = 3 mile walk

Calories = 1,845
*I both love and hate when friends visit. I can't stand all the questions and looks if I eat less than them ("Aren't you hungry?", "You don't need to lose weight", "Don't tell me you're turning into one of THOSE women..."), so I cave in :-(
