Ankle injuries are the worst.  Well, right up there with shins and knees, and shoulders, and elbows, and wrists...  Yeah.  Never fun being injured, safely healing up then not re-injuring yourself is always the trick.   Have a safe rest then reload and reset once your ankle is better!

Woensdag 6 Desember

 

My ankle was pain free this morning, that lasted about 15 minutes. I did spend the entire day on my feet.

 

And it rained the entire afternoon. The dogs got walked. Three wet dogs in front of my little truck steams up everything, including my glasses.

Donderdag 7 Desember.

 

I found we are going to have visitors next of next week . And a Christmas day with family. Somewhere along the line I have to get my brain to understand that it is not that bad, I will survive.

 

Ankle is much worse than yesterday. I think I have to accept the idea that running will not happen this challenge.

 

And I got money today. A big relief, my credit card were very very close to being maxed out. I ran out of fuel three times the last week. I just have a lot of experience steering a stuttering car downhill, and a can full of fuel for the lawnmower.

Vrydag 8 Desember

 

Working. Some stuff I have to finish this weekend. 

 

Ankle nothing better, still swollen. I have to mow the lawn as well, but am afraid I will cause more damage. Bought some fries, and a visit to the scrapyard gave me decent size sledge hammer head. 

 

For this time of the year I wear a lot of jackets. I even had my bedroom heater on the last two nights.

 

And too much Youtube leads to this.

Yeah, I tried watching cricket once. It was even more incomprehensible than other sports.

Saterdag, 9 Desember

 

I really like cricket, I would love one day to see a real match. 

 

Saturday night movie were The Blind Banker from Sherlock. I was not impressed.

 

Flappie is in the dog box. I am still very angry with her. While walking this morning  I heard her making a commotion and when I got there she  has killed a baby Meerkat/Mongoose. It was a beautiful tiny little thing,about as long as my hand, but dead. 

 

There are big gaps in my music knowledge, and yesterday  I accidentally listened to Coldplay for the first time in my life. Maybe one day I will ask Youtube what Beyonce sounds like. Any recommendations?

Oh no! Naughty Flappie!

 

I'm also not up to date with new music, or even the last couple of years' musicians. Especially not South African I've discovered a couple great singers/groups, like Home Free, Josh Turner, Blake Shelton, that guy from LOTR with the red hair that sing a lot of their songs too?, Carrie Underwood, Rachel Platten, Katy Perry... I know of Coldplay through Brandt and the boys. Next time they listen to music on Youtube, I'll try to get names for you. Their music might be more your style and a bit more up to speed.

Sondag 10 Desember

 

I have listened to Rachel Platen, the rest is do not know. I will make an effort during the week.

 

Took the dogs for a walk, did some work, slept and vegetated in front of the computer. 

 

And I uploaded a little video  I saved in the days long before Youtube existed.

Work is getting done. 

 

I bought a pie, some stuff for work,  and in all a very bland sort of day.

 

And I suddenly remembered about my first encounter with Taylor Swift's music.

Dinsdag 12 Desember

 

Thank you for all of that. I have heard the Shakira one before.  And I listened to Carrie Underwood.

 

I bought a cheapie cellphone for one of the guys at work. He does one very dirty dusty job very well, and this was a sort of thank you present, since his phone is beyond useless. I also bought a puzzle, four books, a keyboard and a non working UPS. And I had my last visit to the scrapyard for the year. 

 

And a little more rain tonight.

The dogs got walked, the kitten only likes me when she wants food. 

 

Every time I spend money this year, I wrote it down. I did some quick calculations today, and for someone who pleads poverty it is an amazing amount. Most of it were for fuel and stuff for the workshop.

 

And I am very interested to see how my ankle will be tomorrow, this afternoon I took the big lawnmower and mowed the lawn at home. If things look good I will have to mow it at the workshop.

 

The storeroom is clean.

Donderdag 14 Desember

 

I ate a very expensive Cadbury ice cream this morning and enjoyed every minute of it. The workshop grass is cut, my ankle does not feel bad at all.  The workshop is clean.

 

And this is our last workday for the year. The workshop is closed until 15 January next year. But like always,  I will spend every day at the workshop doing all sorts of things without any employees or customers bothering me.

 

Tonight I listened to Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran and this.

Sounds like you got a lot done, and have a good hold on the money spent. That ice cream was necessary, especially with all the work you've done. Now to get the lawn mowed this side...

Vrydag, 15 Desember

 

A very relaxed day. I did went to town for a short while, then went to the workshop. Instead of doing anything physical I took the diary and made a spreadsheet of all the money I spent during the year. It was interesting. The numbers are not perfect, but it is very close. I made a point of writing down every time I spend money. Some numbers were surprisingly low, others were unpleasantly high. 

 

I ate 35 large bags of crisps during the year, fries were 16 times, 3 small and 1 big pizza and quite a few ice creams. 

 

The places I made a point of visiting every week: the scrapyard I bought stuff from 17 times, the pawnshop 10 times and the charity shop 21 times. All the clothes I bought this year were from the charity shop.

 

I did not do much driving, the big one were the trip to the KNP, and that were paid for by my brother. I visited the cities twice during the year.

 

About half the money were spend at 3 hardware stores, that was expected. All of that were for work.

 

During next year I have to make a real big effort to do some proper bookkeeping for my personal money. I have no idea where I got the money from that I spent.

 

We started to build a puzzle.

 

I listened to Katy Perry tonight. And The Rock. I am not into wrestling.

Saterdag 17 Desember

 

I did not slept very late, but poor Flappie were wimpering because I was late taking them for their walk.

 

Most of the morning and the evening were spend at the workshop. Doing the development thing where it takes two hours of thinking how to do something and then spending ten minutes to do the actual work.

 

I almost bought a new cheap cellphone, but I managed to get my old one charged. I will have to put it on Santa's list.

 

The car doors is giving trouble again. Getting in through the passenger door is not very comfortable.

 

Saturday night movie were The Great Game from the series Sherlock.

I wish I had that level of knowledge into where my money went this year.  That is impressive! 

 

When you have to do smart work, 2 hours of planning and ten minutes of doing is far better than the opposite.  Abraham Lincoln once (perhaps) said "If I were given 8 hours to cut down a tree, I'd spend two hours sharpening the axe."  Having cut down a tree with a dull axe, I completely agree.

 

Time to start shuffling again on Monday.  I wonder if the Colorado weather will try to freeze me or not.
