Yasha92
The grinder challenge (not to be misconstrued as the Grindr challenge!! O_O) Often my last lift in a set will be really hard, I will feel like I can’t possibly do it, that the weight is too heavy, that I’ve done too many reps. But, slowly, surely that bar will inch up (often with a growl of exertion) until it clangs back into the holders. This will be the theme of the final challenge of the year. I’m tired. I’m feeling like maybe it’s too hard. I’m going to do it anyway. Goals. Gym: Once a week PT, once a week Krav, minimum once a week visit gym for programmed lifts. Eat: 5-a-day freggies. No soft drink. Speak: Mandarin every day for at least one sentence. Videoed and screenshot as proof. That’s it. Get it done. 7 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92
Zero week, Friday - ramping into the challenge getting some of those tasks on their way to being habits (or so I shall tell myself) Gym: Gym & Gym & Krav done for this week (owwwww, my shoulders). Trying to kick a cold so no more gym until the challenge starts. Eat: 5-a-day freggies//No soft drink. Today was about 3.5 Freggies and I had 2 soft drinks and 1.5 cocktails at a staff member's farewell. Then I came home early because I could see that was leading down a dangerous path. Speak: Mandarin every day for at least one sentence. Videoed and screenshot as proof. One sentence done. Yep. I'm still rather sick - I was also a bit tipsy, so not my most flattering selfie-video. But I got that sentence done. Yasha92
Week 1, day 1 Sundayspent most of the day having a pity party for my sunburn. Still managed to kick butt on some cleaning that has been neglected and did two loads of laundry and three of dishes. Managed to get the freggies in, just, and did some Mandarin. Checking in early because Mr and I are going to watch Thor again Gym/Krav: my skin hurts too much today for this, but I’ve made a date with Mr for tomorrow for the gymFive fregg, no fizz: yes to the fregg, had a rum and coke before I remembered that I’m trying not to soft drink (oops)Mando sentence: yep, today was “excuse me, how much is that? Yasha92
Week 1, day 3 Tuesday.Busy day at work today, back to back meetings for most of the day. Still had a pretty good day. Was going to go to a fundraiser with some work people after work but I decided not to, I’ve done a fair amount of socialisation with work people lately and frankly I didn’t have the funds I would have liked to contribute. After work I came home and was tossing up whether or not to go to the gym- my skin is still really red and sore from the sunburn and in addition I have now started peeling and was feeling somewhat ick. I read a bunch of other people’s threads while I was weighing it up and it was a combination of someone’s get it done penguin and a lady my Mum follows on Facebook who has no top layer of skin at all that gave me the reminder that this is not about motivation, this is pure grind. So then I went to the gym and ground out my workout. It was definitely a grind. Deadlifts of 8x4@70kg then a bunch of accessories. Got through everything programmed (except assisted pull-ups because the pull-up machine was broken and there were people using the big-rig so I couldn’t switch to banded pull-ups without getting in their way). Then came home and did my Mando sentence. It weren’t purdy but I got it done.Gym: one downFreggies/fizzy: 5 freggies, no fizzyMandarin: yes, today’s sentence was I love you, we love you(plural), they love him, she loves us. (Wo ai nimen!). A simple sentence, but a good one to practice. 4 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92
Week 1, day 4 Wednesday Very sleepy today, and my burn has started to peel on my nose and my neck, my arms have browned up and should be fine, but my legs are still quite red and sore. Still managed to grind my goals into the dust today. Long day at work, though nothing particularly difficult, lots of data organising, as it comes closer to the end of the year we need to start justifying our casual spending etc and having data on hand is helpful. Went into the gardens today but didn't walk around, just a little visit to listen to the fountain and calm my mind. In the afternoon had PT gym session and SMASHED my bench PB for reps, went to the chemist and got some cream to deal with the stress-eczma breakout I've got going on, then rode my bike to Mr's work to drop off the eftpos card then rode back home. Did Mando sentence. Ate freggies. Didn't drink soft drink. Gym, Gym Krav: Gym & Gym done, Krav tomorrow. At gym tonight was benchpress, my PB for reps was 3reps at 30kg, tonight I did 5 reps at 30kg... times 3 sets! and then one set of 3 reps and one set of two reps as I got fatigued. It has become clear that I do way better with a close grip benchpress as my wrists seem way happier like this. I do get sore armpits though... Freggies/Fizzy: Had 6 freggies (blueberries and spinach in smoothie, rocket and pumpkin with lunch, banana and apple for snacks). No softdrinks consumed. Mandarin sentence: done and filmed. Today's sentence was using the words for family members to introduce Dad, Mum, little brothers and sisters. I only practiced older siblings words once or twice since I don't have any, so my use of them will be less. .. Also this is unrelated to anything, but came up in my grinding search gifs and I love it too much to not share: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 5 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92
Week 1, day 5 Thursday.Work, then Krav, then went to friends to chill on the couch while the lads played DnD. Krav was sooooo hot and muggy and the training shirt they gave us is a material that doesn’t breathe super well, so I was drenched- literally, my shorts felt like I had stepped out of the pool and I definitely saw drips going flying in some of the attacks *shudder*. I also copped some pretty wicked battle scars which don’t show up great on camera... I suspect the bruise on my hand is only going to look worse over the next couple days... it’s already spread up to my knuckles since I took that photo. I /think/ what happened (and I’m not sure, so I must have been in the moment) was that as the plastic knife came down from overhead and I tried to block by whacking the attackers wrist with my forearm that I misjudged and copped the plastic knife to the back of my hand instead. Based on the location and details of the bruise, plus the problems we were working on tonight that is the most logical explanation.Another win for today on the no-fizzy front and they even had the zero sugar lemonade reduced down for clearance! There was a store person watching so I didn’t give it the finger for my photo, by I did with my mind.I did not do my Mando sentence. I went to speak to a native speaker at one stage at work, but chickened out. Not a valid excuse.Gym, gym, Krav: complete for the week~Freggies, fizzy: 5 achieved, plus a big ‘fuck-youuuuu’ given to the lemonade temptation.Mando: bu hao. Not good. I need to think of a consequence. I wasn’t relying on motivation, but my discipline still needs work. 5 1 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment
