ok, considering I've pretty much flipped a table and am just deseperately trying to get through the holidays, I'm goign to do a mini-check-in on goals.

 

1. Be deliberate and careful as I walk through the holiday season

I've been daily weighing, but not daily tracking since before I traveled to Seattle for the funeral. I am going to try and start this again today.

 

2. Be deliberate about moving.

OK SO YEAH. I haven't been doing any exercises. I wanted to do bodyweight, yoga, and tkd. going to just stick to TKD, and see if I can randomly fit in extra movements throughout the day. Right now the idea of clearing 20-40 minutes in the morning is a HUGE stressor, and I'm just not going to worry about it.

 

3. Be deliberate about push-ups! 

after an amazing start on push-ups, I stopped in seattle and have had about 1 1/2 weeks with none. gonna (re)start this today.

 

4. BE DELIBERATE ABOUT SLEEP.

I've been doing pretty good with no screens, but haven't been doing well at all with getting to bed on time. this week, though, is a pass b/c I have to stay up late knitting every night. so, whatever.

 

OK. I feel less stressed about the challenge because I have kissed these goals and told them goodbye (mostly). PHEW.

self care last night = cancelling a friday night meet up that would have been way too much, eating a huge quantity of chocolate whilst sitting on the couch, and falling asleep with the cat IN my lap, by which I mean I was cross legged and she tucked in there and I tipped over a little and fell asleep.

 

* no xmas knitting was accomplished

* I did go to tkd thoughI did push-ups in class so there's that

* also we cancelled class the week between xmas and new years and I am feeling relief from that too

* I didn't write down what I ate all day

* I told my husband that I'm having a rough time right now (honestly the term depressed doesn't seem right, but like, narrowly avoiding falling into a pit of despair is more accurate but I get it it's a little more scary)

* tonight we have Fourteen over and he has to work on his xmas presents, and I have to work on mine

* I am trying to figure out if I can get to Rochester for my colleague's wife's funeral early tomorrow morning. it's about a 4 1/2 drive. I know it's not expected of me, I'm just trying to figure out if it's possible.

You certainly had a rough year. But you can overcome it with a bit of self-care and love from your loved ones. Have a lot of rest and ask for as many hugs as you can :)

hi from the other side of xmas!

I had a solid 5 days off from internetting and work too. it was great.

I worked on Friday, and then our knitting diner is closing so my knitting group met there for a last ever knit night. so sad! but they are closing because the owner was successful and sold it to a new person, so that's something good, at least. tho now we need to find a new place, and we will miss our favorite waitress kathy. 

 

Sat. was my family xmas upstate, so we drove up (caravaning with the boys, because they had an evening engagement) and spenta really sweet afternoon with my big immediate family. the senior apt building that my dad lives at has a common room that one can reserve, so we took it over and made a big family dinner and had gift exchange and dessert. then we visited with my sister (in from london) for a bit longer, and got home kind of late.

 

Sunday was xmas eve, which was kind of hectic. we had some big cleaning to do, and then we settled down to make gifts for a couple of hours, and my mom arrived and I had to run some errands and then we put up the xmas tree (hadn't had time to do it earlier, it's not a xmas eve tradition or anything) and my husband made dinner and his parents came over and we had a nice evening together. They all cleared out and mom went to bed at 930 or so, and we really settled into last minute crafting. I stopped knitting at 2AM when I started to make mistakes (with only 3 rows left!) and wrapped presents instead. we went to sleep at 4AM.

 

Monday the kids came over early, gifts were exchanged, then blended family dinner at our friends with the kids and their mom and her family was had, and I didn't drink too much (it's happened in years past) and I didn't eat too much (also has happened in years past) and we got home at 5ish and settled in for some couch time, then watched Star Wars The Force Awakens in prep for seeing #8, and went to bed. SO TIRED.

 

Tuesday I was off of work, and sat still all day long. like, for real. I read a little, and knit a tiny bit, and then we saw The Last Jedi with Fourteen and my in laws, and had taco bell and went to bed.


Wednesday I worked from home a bit, and didn't work a bit, and then went to albany to have dinner w my sister before she leaves (today) for london. it's VERY COLD, and we ran out of gas suddenly (darn it car) but happily were across the street from a gas station so it worked out ok. home kind of late though.

 

So TLDR: 

* no exercising

* haven't been eating TOOOO much but haven't been strict

* weight seems steady

* xmas knitting not complete still

* caught a bad cold last week, it's on its way out. 

 

I'm thinking a lot about what I want my challenge to be for next week! and I am having a HARD TIME because there's so much shiny and I can't find my way into making an actionable and implementable plan. I'm feeling kind of paralyzed by options, you know? when in actuality I need to just DO SOMETHING because I haven't been doing much in a while.

One option would be to have a challenge where you just do something as you say. Another option is to think about larger long term goals (new year and all :P) and break them down. What things are on your list? Maybe we can help.

It did take me a good hour or so for each one, but I was also entertaining a dog at the same time.
