I also decided I think I want to try to get up and make the bed and get dressed and look nice every day because that was something that was really important to her.

Belated condolences for your grandmother. Hope you and your family are beginning to heal and you're still taking good care of yourself. :love_heart:

Alright, update.

I tried to go to the gym on Wednesday to make it back and ended up just bawling my eyes out after one set, so I went home. I don't know what happened or what came over me, I just couldn't handle it.

So I didn't workout again until Friday, and got in a solid workout Friday and Saturday. New program starts tomorrow, and counseling tomorrow. hooray!

I have not been meditating, however I have been reading a lot, and going to bed on time and sleeping through the night, which many of you know is rare for me.

Diet has been fantastic. Lots of vegetables. Lots of meat. I'm hanging out around 151-153 now, which is the lowest I've been in something like 4 years now.

Starting to feel more like myself again.

That's grief. There is no wrong way to grieve, and everyone grieves differently. Sounds like you needed a cry before you could lift again.

Today i went for a walk, so that was cool.

Yesterday i had to skip the gym because i went to the eye doctor. been having some massive issues and they had to dilate my eyes and I couldn't see straight for the majority of the day.

Today i'm dealing with ocular migraine issues from all the eye stuff so am not going anywhere. Seeing the neurologist in 2 weeks.

Gym tomorrow though!

Out of sympathy for your eye problems, I hereby restrain myself from making a joke about "seeing" the neurologist.

I get these also, but it sounds like yours are much worse if they keep you home :/ (Mine, after about 20 min, my vision clears right up.) Hopefully the doc can help!

Yeah, my vision has been clearing up in about 45 minutes, but it's the migraine that lingers for a day that's been debilitating. I get anxious and nauseated and then the pain...

I have always dealt with eye issues, so this new one isn't a huge surprise. My prescription is realllly strong (like, -15 in my glasses) to the point where I have no peripheral vision in them so I can't drive unless I have my contacts, and dark nighttime driving in the rain is terrifying and exhausts me for hours. With my extreme myopia, it's amazing I've gone this long without anything like this.

Okay, so update!

1) I think total screen time has an effect on the migraines, so I've been reducing screen time overall.

With that, I:

  • wrote out all my workouts on paper so I don't have to look at my phone as much during my workouts
  • Spent a bunch of time setting up my office so I had room to set up my keyboard so I can start playing music again for a non-screened hobby (though, honestly, I really want a bass guitar again, keyboard isn't nearly as fun)
  • I've been reading more but still not as much, as I'm trying to be as kind to my eyes as possible.

Next I just need to delete animal crossing....

2) Gym has been good. Last week I made it 3x, the goal for this week is 5x and I should make it.

With that, I moved around my schedule to make time to make it to the gym I want to go to, not the gym that's 5 minutes away that gives me massive anxiety when I go there. This is the first test week to see if I can make it work, but I really think I can if I just focus my time a bit better.

I'm really enjoying my new program, though I'm really only on week 1. Since I haven't been able to be consistent, it's extremely high volume, and it introduces a lot of movements or movements I haven't done in years, the first week I cut the volume in half, the second week I did full volume but only 3 days. So next is actually getting through the first week as written before I move to week 2.

Strict Muscle-up: 8 sets of 3

Clean and Jerk: 3 sets of 3 at 60kg (my program called to find a daily 3RM, but since this was my first time doing these in years, I decided to just stay at 60 and work on form)

Pullups: 3x8

Iron Cross Holds (Assisted): Negative + :10
Barbell Sweeps: 3x8

Lat Pulldowns: 5x10

T-Bar Row: 3x15

Lat Raise: 3x10

3) Madi's foot is better so we've been walking again! Yay! I want to start walking with her first thing in the morning, but we'll get there.

4) Nutrition has been on point. Hovering around 151lb, haven't broken into 150.9 yet but will get there. Officially down 15 since i started this cut, so that's nice.

I am lucky and don't get the actual migraine part after (I get those separately and not preceded by auras, but it's been almost a decade since I had one). I find it interesting though because my myopia is also pretty terrible, but not on your level. I'm a -9 with a double astigmatism (in contacts, not sure what my glasses are honestly, besides expensive). I completely feel you on the night/rain driving. Reflections and bright lights are megasuck.

Do you ever wake up sweaty from nightmares where somehow you ended up driving in the dark without your glasses on? I assume that's a normal one for blind folks.

lol at "not sure what my glasses are besides expensive". me too. me too, hah.

I don't have that nightmare but it is one of my worst fears in life to have an emergency (like, a fire, or a burglary) and not be able to get to my glasses in time and then either getting stuck outside blind or having the burglar hold me up and me not being able to actually see them or what they're motioning for me to do.

Back in December I was feeling super ambitious and I tried to teach Madi how to do that hug thing, only on people instead.

This was as good as we got:

Thank you! I wax and then use a basic brow mascara/gel to keep them in order/cover up any mistakes because i get them waxed at supercuts :) Naturally they're about double this size.
