Hi! I'm Raptron. You may know me from such challenges as #36: Sept - Oct 2014 and #44: Oct - Nov 2015. Or maybe you've just seen me around. I compete on an adult gymnastics team whose season is just gearing up, participated in my first powerlifting meet last month, and generally spend my free time trying flip, lift, and socialize my way to VICTORY by creating my own win conditions for life. I am creating a way to victory for January by keeping things simpler so that I can focus on two main goals: polishing my gymnastics for competition season (first meet of the season is January 20!) and continuing the search for a new job, which I completely slacked off doing in December and apparently need to keep as a goal to make progress on.

 

Goal 1. Gymnastics Rough Spots

*Vault 4x in practice

*Bars routine at least 1 practice x week

*Beam routine at least 1 practice x week

*Floor routine at least 1 practice x week

 

Goal 2. Intervals

*Interval workouts 2x per week

 

Goal 3. Job Applications

*Apply for at least 3 jobs per week

 

I will still be lifting 3x per week this month and also probably trying to eat a bit less cheese and a bit more vegetables but do not want to make those formal goals this time around.

Sooo tedious, especially recognizing the value of customizing your resume for each application to make it through the nonsense filters/ring the right bells. :rolleyes:

 

And you've got it. It's a good job and a good work place, but I just need to move on to progress professionally. I am unsure of the process for getting my bonus for 2017 if I leave TOO too early anyway (we normally get it end of Jan or end of Feb) so I am definitely not in a rush. The big thing is that I DO LOVE TRAVEL and knowing what my vacation/time off will look like at a new job will help greatly when trying to plan for some bigger trips later in the year (like Oktoberfest maybe...?!). Plus, yeah, moving on is good! :)

This sounds like the best possible place to be in when job-hunting, anyway!

Definitely a really good place to be but perhaps TOO comfortable, hence the need for a goal. ;) And let's not getttt too excited, my only goal for Jan 20 is to try to stay on the balance beam for once, hah.

TEMPTINGGG. I'm planning to stick around Boston for a little while but my imaginary dream job has lots of other office locations to consider relocating to in the future.

Hi!  Following!  I hope you're going to post videos of your gymnastics competitions. :)  

 

The job hunt situation sounds ideal.  Since your current job is very okay, you have the luxury of waiting for the perfect job, rather than having to take the first somewhat okay position that makes an offer.  And there should be very little stress involved in the entire process.

Yesss. Our friend's parents live in Munich and have already agreed to let a bunch of us stay over anytime we do come out sooooooooo... it's really just a matter of when. :D

I'll see what I can do! We do try to take videos of the routines.

What type of Job are you seeking?

I'm looking into project management positions mostly at tech companies, but ideally ones that work toward a somewhat relevant mission to the things my organization does (sustainability, improving health care, climate adaptation, public engagement, etc.). I do a lot of event management at my current job and I don't particularly LIKE it but I am good at it and keep seeing listings that I'd be killer for but think that moving away from that part of my work would be beneficial for my sanity/satisfaction in a new position. It's an interesting place to be to consider which direction you can go in. :)

 

Day 1.2

Honestly not too bad! I think I am definitely stronger than when I last ran this program in the summer cause this shit's been not too bad so far. (Let's check in again about it during week 4 rather than week 2 of this program where maybe I will be eating my words.) I think I want to do at least 3-4 accessories instead of phoning it in with two, so I will start picking 1-2 additional exercises to add to these workouts when I write out the week's program in my notebook.

 

When I got home I made like a buffalo chicken spread (diced chicken breast, cottage cheese, and cream cheese, all heated up and gooey with plenty of Frank's hot sauce) and ate it in a hot, toasted pita with some sauteed broccoli. It was a supremely satisfying 10 minute meal. 

 

Gymnastics: 0 vault, 0 beam, 0 floor, 0 bars

Intervals: 0/2 

Jobs: 0/3

 

Today, I will do some interval training (either class at work or on my own) and donate blood this evening (the cold weather makes people cancel so the Red Cross has really been hounding me about keeping this appointment). Tomorrow, we are getting slammed with a snow hurricane so it's going to be a WFH day and unfortunately, likely means that the gymnastics gym will be closed. We'll see what happens.
