Sounds like a blast! At some point in my life I should try racquetball, I know my parents always had fun playing it when they were younger and fitter.

1/25

 

1) Fitness

 Move 4x/week

Gymnastics last night and it was a SUPER GOOD practice!!

After warmups I worked handstands for about 15 minutes and they were super consistent! I was holding free standing for at least a few seconds on the majority of them. (I should film freestanding one of these times).

Then I moved to trampoline and tumble track to work standing back tucks. I got a LOT better at not just throwing my head back, but actually setting, spotting, and bringing my knees in. Still some work to do, but I made a ton of progress.

Last front handsprings on the floor. I've been struggling with three things here:

  1. Bringing my feet together quickly
  2. Blocking off of both hands equally (My right arm is usually droopy/lagging so I end up with my left arm up and my right arm out to the side and then end up landing sideways)
  3. Keeping my neck outstretched. I have a tendency to want to bring my chin down to see my landing, which makes the landing really hard because I loose my shape.

 I did really well on 1 and 2 and made a little progress on 3. My brain has a hard time trying to do all the things at once.

Nope. Yesterday was busy. I ended up staying at work late (~6:45 I got home) so then I made dinner, ate, and went straight to gymnastics. Then home, shower, get ready for the next day and it's already almost bedtime.

 

3) Movement/Mobility

 Stretch, foam roll, mobility routine, etc 3x/ week

Stretched before and after. Mostly splits work. Need to loosen up feet and calves a bit. My feet have been cramped when I wake up in the morning lately.

 

4) Nutrition

☐☐ Eat APAP 6x/ week 

Egg casserole breakfast

Tacos w/ corn tortillas

Spaghetti squash, ground turkey, sauce

Protein bar

My nutrition left a bit to be desired over the weekend. Company holiday party meant I indulged in many alcohols and desserts.

And I didn't get to the grocery store yesterday, but have enough to last me until Tuesday when I can make it.

1/29

 

1) Fitness

Gymnastics! Started with front handsprings, but I just couldn't for some reason. So I just moved to more back tuck work on the trampolines and really perfecting them. I was very solid with a pre-bounce (check my IG in siggy) but taking the bounce out became a struggle. Tucks are hard. Finished with handstands and stretching.

 

I tried to wake up early for the gym this morning, but was fighting a headache all night (due to clenching my jaw due to a poor coworker interaction earlier in the day). I could go now, but it would be jam packed and I kind of don't wanna do that.

 

2) Read

 Comic a day. 

No, Mondays are always hard because they're such a late night.

 

3) Movement/Mobility

☐☐ Stretch, foam roll, mobility routine, etc 3x/ week

Splits work

I saw your video! Your set looks really nice out of the bounce! Have you done any of the drills for backwards jumping/setting? Popular ones tend to be jump backwards onto a panel mat (with your arms over your head like you would be setting for a back tuck) and also jumping backwards against a wedge mat or other soft mat along the wall where you really think about getting your arms UP and smack them into the mat above your head as you jump. 

 

(Also if you don't want any drills/suggestions from me because you have coaches available or have a plan, just tell me to piss off. :) I'm just used to a peer coaching environment!)

Thanks! I appreciate it! My coach is coming to open gym Thursday to help me with the set no bounce. Something about the arm swinging and jumping is hard :) I do appreciate the tips though and might suggest these, or start with these before she's ready. It's also nice because there is one coach to about 11 of us in class so having extra drills is helpful.

Morning racquetball before work with the coworkers. I got better on my second try and I managed to hit my step goal before I got to work. So there's that.

Also, allowed me just to relax and chill after work, which was nice too.

Paleo-ish with the exception of naan for lunch. But instead of what I usually do with Indian food, stuffing myself silly, I managed to stop eating when I was full but not uncomfortable.

Was really craving sweets/dessert after dinner, but all I had was ice cream, which I wasn't really feeling like, so I just had fizzy water instead of eating the ice cream because it existed.

 

HAPPY FEBRUARY! January was a pretty long year, huh?

2/1

 

1) Fitness

It's crazy how much better my handstands are when I work them at the beginning of practice instead of the end when I'm all tired and exhausted already lol

Did mostly back tucks again, some from the trampoline. But did work some standing drills (jump up tuck back onto resi) and then worked standing into the pit.

Finished the last few minutes with front handsprings.

I'm kind of excited to go back to back handsprings and bars and have them be terrible again lol Too many skills, not enough time.

 

2) Read

 Comic a day. 

Not yesterday! Caught up on some TV that has been building up on the DVR.

 

3) Movement/Mobility

 Stretch, foam roll, mobility routine, etc 3x/ week

Yep! Mostly splits, but some calves and wrists.

My splits have been improving so much, it's crazy!

NOPE I ended up not bringing a big enough lunch and was STARVING at like 4pm. So I got tacos from Qdoba and then also had a big rice krispy with peanut butter and topped with chocolate. OH WELL. It was delicious and worth it.

Only did a workout on Saturday and ended up hitting the barbell again for the first time in TOO LONG. My hamstrings are nice and sore :) RDLs are still hard but fulfilling

Did BOOK reading a lot over the weekend. Nearly complete with my book. Also, went to the comic shop over the weekend.

 

3) Movement/Mobility

 Stretch, foam roll, mobility routine, etc 3x/ week

Stretched after the workout Saturday and foam rolled. 

 

4) Nutrition

Overall not too bad. Went out for lunch Friday and had a sandwich and tomato soup, could have done without the french fries tho, but still paleo? lol

The rest of the food over the weekend was homemade, including pizza with lots of veggies, and tacos.

I did have donuts on Sunday. I bought some at the grocery store Saturday for breakfast on Sunday and Mr. J also bought some Saturday night at work, so we ended up with three 6-packs of donuts at the house. OOPS!

 

I got rid of some of the items I purged via Facebook Marketplace for free. Man those groups are a freaking pain. I'd almost rather just throw shit away then deal with all these people. If I'm offering free shit for you, I'm not driving all the way to the other side of town to meet you. 

 

Stay tuned for my next challenge, Will post link when up, otherwise I'll probably keep tracking here in the interim. As I'm going to Mexico Thurs-Sun and won't want to start a new challenge until Monday probably.
