brutalbears Posted January 3, 2018 Report Share Posted January 3, 2018 Brutal Bears Winter is Coming Intro: It has been a crazy couple of years being involved with Nerd Fitness. I have lost a lot of weight (twice) and gained it back (twice). The last couple of years have been really difficult with how much has been going on. I was working two full-time jobs, doing school full time, and buying my first home. Things have finally settled down a bit. I am all moved into the new home, got engaged, dropped to one full-time job, and I finished my newest degree. With everything settling down, it is time to get things moving again. I am at an all-time high weight of 223 (as of this morning). It has been in the negatives around here, so Winter is defiantly here. This makes it hard to do all the outside stuff I like, so I have to get a good inside plan. So, here is to starting fresh and very very simple! Goal 1: Get to the Gym 5 days a week. This is pretty simple. The YMCA is literally on my way home. I plan on running MWF and lifting/doing upper body TTHS. Workout Plan: 2-handed mace 3-circuits 10x8x6 360 swing, gravedigger, rebel press, 2-handed paddle swing, uppercuts, ground & pound Goal 2: Paleo during the week Nothing has resulted in losing weight quite like going paleo(ish). I am going to still have my weekends for now, but paleo during the week...though my kryptonite is beer...which is paleo right? Goal 3: Keep off my ass I will get up and go for a walk at work at least once a day. Sitting all day long is asking for trouble. Goal 4: Stay active One of my biggest downfalls has been being active on here. So, I will hop on and at least update this forum once a day! It does make it harder to keep up with exercise when all you want to do is curl up in a blanket with a bowl of stew. Do you have a snow blower now that you have a house? We don’t (no garage to store it in) and shoveling is a heck of a workout! Unfortunately since we had our daughter usually I’m inside with her and the husband has/gets to do it all himself. You know, I had never considered the fact that Y membership one place, means membership in others. This could come in handy if I travel! I talked with some people on here, I went for a run at the gym (which I can still feel), ate paleo (though I did also have a couple non-paleo alcoholic drinks as well), and it was too cold to go for an outside walk at work-so I walked up and down the stairs for a total of 12 flights. I also put up my start of challenge picture and weight...I am not sure if anyone does this anymore, but a lot of people did in my first guild when I first got on NF and it kind of stuck. I love my stell mace, it is perhaps my favorite work out tool! It is the epitemy of an all in one tool that is highly natural and works out multiple muscle groups. I first read about them on the art of manliness and then I follow up by reading more at Onnit. From there I started reading all about them. From there I started with my old 10-pound sledge hammer in the garage, and after getting into it I bought this sledgehammer on Amazon for $60 but price scales with weight. brutalbears Posted January 5, 2018 Author Report Share Posted January 5, 2018 Update: yesterday I went for several walks during work, I did my mace routine, ate paleo (plus some beer), and was very active on NF. So, I would chop that up to a win. I weighed in at 222.2 this morning, which is progress as well. Of course, I forgot my gym bag at home, and I am not sure if I will be able to make my run today-which is not too saddening considering my calves are so sore today it is a challenge to walk-which would make running "fun". On another note, I will do my best to be...reasonable tomorrow.
