This is for sure 100% a thing. A lot of transplant patients are on it, not me, but I know many and it gives a raging appetite. Sometimes they prescribe it to Mr T when he has a gout flare up and I try to buy at least 1 1/2 times the normal amount of groceries.

So the weekend has come and gone, and it's back to the daily. And the daily is starting out pretty good. My second lowest weight since I started this nonsense at 258 even.

 

No gym over the weekend, but I did host grimble's bday party with about 45 people. Fitbit says that day hit 4500 calories burned and 6 miles walked. I never left the house.Image result for adventure zone gif

 

Other notes. Taako didn't even show up this weekend, let along be aloof outside. And Sunday I respawned. waffles and bacon for breakfast, 1400 cal burger for lunch, bourbon milk shake for dinner. 

 

And I'm currently pretending I'm not hungry. Or that I have amazing tamales waiting. I will resist their siren call until it is time.

Magnus Rushes In

 

Leg day Returneth. With Volume. Also, I totally got nommed by a green jelly in my right calf. Stupid paralytic poison. Wave Echo Cave should be renamed Leg Achey Cave.

 

BB Squat: 4x205x8. I hadn't done volume leg day in a while so I dropped weight a little. Glad I did too. The last reps were more Squat mornings than regular squats.

 

BB RDL: 4x225x8. Could gone about 15 lbs higher, but I couldn't find any fucking small weights. I hate bro lifters. PUT YOUR GAWDDANG WEIGHTS BACK! So I did a 5 count eccentric, made my hamstrings electric. 

 

BB Hack Squat: 3x135x8, 1x155x8: Been almost a year since I did hack squats so I started light, didnt think I could go heavier since my grip was giving me the middle finger. But then I discovered you can do hook grip with hack squats. Joy and increased weight ensued.

 

BB Split Squat: These broke me. Two sets at 65 lbs. and I. Was. Done.

 

Seated calf raise: Who's got two thumbs and  forgot to drink enough water and their right calf cramped up on the first rep?

I am jealous of your workout. *glares at knee cap* May have to steal those Romanian deadlifts, since there is no knee bending involved in those at all.... hmmm.

They're a good hammy/glute workout if you can't use your knees. Steal away!

My unilateral leg work has always been fairly weak, but I think the regular SS is harder than BSS. The leg on the bench helps with stability you don't get when it's just kicked out behind you. But I think they could either could be used. Maybe I'll try Bulgarians next week when leg day comes around and report the difference.

That's interesting. I figured it would be the other way around. A foot on the ground underneath me seems more stable than a foot in the air behind me. Then again, I've caught myself letting that raised leg do work that it shouldn't be doing. I may give the standard SS a squat shot next time around as well.

BSS has a much higher balance/stability component than ground level split squats, IMO. But BSS loads your front leg more and ground floor ones load your back leg more. YMMV.

Static vs dynamic. Lunges you always return to start, split squats you stay in the split position.

Hail and well met, my dudes. There is officially a recovery period after drinking too much alcohol in which I get to skip my IF this morning and no amount of good sense will convince me otherwise. *Eats bagel smugly*

 

Magnus Rushes in

 

Machine Assisted Pull-up: 3x203x8, 203x4. Program calls for 4x8. But I can't do 4x8. So until I can, I shall do these. Good note is they improved greatly from the last time I tried this many pullups, so yay.

 

Pendlay Row: 185x8, 185x7, 2x165x8. These are humbling. Also probably very annoying to the stores right below my lift. 

 

DB One Arm Row: 4x85x8. Normally I can move these with some aplomb, but two big back exercises later these made a very heavy weight on reps 6-8.

 

BB Curl: 2x70x8, 70x5. Felt these. Oof.

 

Alternating Supinating DB Curl: 3x30x8. Not heavy in and of themselves, but after the heavy BB curls, my arms just felt tired.

 

Hanging leg raise: 2x15. I am fat and weak. Please sir, may I have another.

 

Diet fell off a little bit last night, but I blame that on the beer. Weight went up one and a half lbs. Get back on track with the foods today and tomorrow should clear all that up. That and some pretty awesome mac and cheese. You can find more about it here.
