Grumble
sted Wednesday at 09:23 AM Magnus Rushes In Little bit of confession. I have body issues, particularly my chest and arms. And in the awesomely sabotogey way the mind is, the concept is to avoid doing things to them and hope everything else overshadows it. Fucking mind. So today's work out is brought to you by insecurities and frustration. that was harder to type than i expected BB Bench: 135x8, 165x8, 2x175x8. I moved my grip out a bit and really engaged my chest more than I think I ever have. I've always been taught just outside shoulder width for standard bench, turns out that's kind of bullshit. Who knew. DB Incline Close Bench: 65x7, 3x52.5x8. First was too high, second weight was too low, but by the end of the 4th set it was just right. For the unclear, the dumbbells are pressed together for the duration of the exercise. Dip: 2x8, 2x6. I normally do close grip tricep dips and can usually hit 15. Moving the handles out and leaning into the dip to emphasize chest was humbling. I almost landed flat on my face twice. DB One Arm French Press: 3x25x8. probably could have gone to 27.5 and been ok, but 30 would probably have not worked. I dunno if the weight is too much or the dumbbells are too wide, but I sucked with those. Either way, last set still almost failed. BB Reverse Grip Skullcrusher: 60x7, 2x50x8. I need to use an EZ bar doing reverse grip, these were hard on my wrists and I''m already hard enough on them. Decline Oblique Crunches: 2x15 per side.... OOF. Taako's Good Out Here I did not note take yesterday, mostly because I got distracted by new computer for the living room. It's so tiny it almost looks out of place. Abraca Fuck You! Can abraca fuck off yesterday. 4 Quote "You're going to be amazing." Grumble
It's Monday, that means another week down. Let's check in on the weekend, shall we? Friday finished up with my last workout of the week. BB OHP Clean and Press: 2x95x8, 95x7, 95x4. Racks were full, so I learned my newly acquired skillset of the clean to make the lift oh so much fucking harder. DB One Arm Seated Arnold press: 27.5x8, 30x8, 35x8, 42.5x8. I havent done this particular variation in a long time, so I started light. Now I know I could probably hit 4 sets at my highest weight, might even be able to go to 45s next time. BB Incline Rear Delt Raise: 70x8, 3x80x8. Again, I probably could have gone higher, but I was more interested in learning how to properly activate the right muscles for this exercise than moving more weight. DB Lateral Raise: 3x22.5x8. One of the things about working to have a more aesthetic look is getting to see striations while lifting. Made me feel good. BB Shrug: 2x275x8, 285x8. Maybe shouldn't have jumped up here, forearms were giving out, but I had to do it. Also, I should be aware of WHERE exactly the bar is sitting when I shrug, tried to reverse time on my first lift. Air Bike: 3x15 (4 count). It's a military thing. The only notes taken directly related to my character in this weekends pathfinder Game. Which was hampered slightly by grimble rolling her first d20 for. And rolled a nat20. She's rolling everything for me forever now. Also, my aunt's memorial was this weekend. I'm not super upset about it. We weren't close and I was there for my mom. It just made me think about the people I keep in my life and the people that ARE in my life. Like, I know you and we're friends, but I don't make the effort to keep in touch regularly. At some point I need to sit down and decide if I NEED all these people. (Not you people, you are all the Chance Lance of my internet heart). Maybe part of my Year Of Clean isn't just stuff. I need to think some more on this. 5 Quote "You're going to be amazing." Grumble
Another day, another post. Magnus Rushes In BB Squat: 205x8, 2x225x8, 225x6. I got distracted by an old friend. Last set definitely was almost like lifting cold. Woops. BB RDL: 4x235x8. Everything felt stronger, including my grip. Woot. BB Hack Squat: 4x185x8. Definitely felt stronger than last week. I might be able to move up to 205. We'll see. BB Split Squat: 2x65x8, 75x8, 95x8. I did it! I think part of it was I did last weeks in my Cons and this week in my socks. #Allbalancematters Seated Calf Raise: 70x12, 2x90x12. Still dealing with some cramping in my right calf. Lifelong issue. Things I need to work on. The cut weight-wise has stalled. I haven't been eating well, and I just don't have the will to do all the work myself right now. It's tough getting the Mrs to participate in something she doesn't really care about. I dunno. I need to figure something out that I can do. I think I just need to let my actions speak for myself. So, maybe dig in and do the shit and become a beast. And remember that grimble needs a good role model too. Taako's Good Out Here We've got some major shit at work that's coming down the pipe, so my notetaking has been going nuts in an attempt to start building a documentable process. I've discovered that above everything else, it's let my brain think about other things. I don't know how good of an idea that is yet. Abraca Fuck You I threw some shit away. Got in trouble for it. Because if you don't, you end up with massive clutter because the old stuff hangs out next to the new stuff, and never ever goes away. 2 Quote The Great Reading Thread of 2023 “I've always believed that failure is non-existent. Grumble
Magnus Rushes In Back and Bi Day. More across the board improvement. Machine Assisted Pullup: 3x203x8, 203x7 (weight is what I'm still lifting as opposed to what is helping.) Last week I had to drop weight and reps, this time I just failed on the last rep. Pendlay Row: 4x185x8. These moved well. I'm going up to 190-195 next week. Still feel sorry for the shops below me. DB One Arm Row: 4x85x8. I did a set with my forearm on the bench, really liked it, but too much like the pendlay row. So back to hand on bench. These will also go up next week. BB Curl: 3x65x8. No 70s, which I needed, and no 75s, so I dropped 5 instead of attempting to increase 10. DB Alt Supinating bicep curl: 3x32.5x8. Solid. Going up to 35 next week. Hanging leg Raise: 3x15. Only last 3 reps of final set were awful. Otherwise these were good. Probably two weeks away from upping reps. Taako's Good Out Here Nothing of note. (heh) Abraca Fuck You We've suspended our hello fresh for the next few weeks and Are going to be cleaning out the food cupboards. Grumble
Weekend? Winkend, amiright? Two more good workouts Thursday and Friday. Chest and tris: BB Bench: 2x175x8, 180x8, 180x7, As usual my weakest lift, but moving better each time. I need to get back to 225x8. That's my immediate goal. DB Incline Close Bench: 60x7, 55x8, 55x6, 50x8. I jumped too much again, so this week I will stick with the 55s. Dip: 7, 6. Wasn't feeling these. DB One Arm French press: 3x30x8. Is better. Almost needed assistance on the last rep. BB Reverse Grip Skull Crusher: 3x65x8. Lemme tell about my love for the ez bar. Saves so much wear and tear on the wrist and lets you really focus on the muscles being worked. DB Side Bend/Oblique Crunches: 2x70x15, 80x15. I'm STILL feeling the after effects of these this morning. Shoulder and Traps: BB OHP: 3x115x8, 115x6, 95x2. I knew the last set was gonna be rough, so I rejiggered the weights so I could strip down and finish the set as prescribed. DB One Arm Arnold Press: 3x45x8. 47.5x7. Woo, failure. Shoulders are stronger than I have been giving them credit for. BB Incline rear delt raise: 4x90x8. I'm probably a month away from having to use full size barbells instead of the preweighted ones. DB lateral Raise: 3x25x8. No Dumbbells, used plates. Felt like a badass. Also, purely aesthetic note, my shoulder surgery has actually caused my right shoulder to be smaller, I don't have the same cap that my left does, and I don't think I ever will. Just something interesting I noticed now that I'm getting more defined. BB Shrug: 3x285x8. Because shrugs are fun. Bicycle Crunches/Air bike: 3x20. (4 count). The core is strong, but squishy. It was a good weekend. I was able to actually relax. Had breakfast with my cousin and her family on saturday, and grimble went to dance on Sunday, but that was literally all we had planned. I t was kind of nice. Got some cleaning done. Had a bunch of swag shirts from conferences sitting on a shelf that I was holding on to "just in case". Well, just in case came, went and didn't even say hi, so I took everything off the shelf, got rid of all my workout shirts that are too short, replaced a couple with nice big shirts, and took the rest to the shed for cleanup. My closet looks better, the corner where we had a big bag of clothes looks better. I went through my nightstand drawers and cleaned those out. Kept the important bits (everyone needs a safe space, even the ball gag). I don't know if the two are related, but I slept better last night. I also made Panang (coconut based curry) with chicken in the crockpot friday night and Ropa Vieja in the instapot sunday night. Very satisfying dishes. Also used to clean out some existing food stuffs. But here we are, a one more week. Let's finish strong. 3 Quote "You're going to be amazing." Kept the important bits (everyone needs a safe space, even the ball gag). I don't know if the two are related, but I slept better last night. I also made Panang (coconut based curry) with chicken in the crockpot friday night and Ropa Vieja in the instapot sunday night. Very satisfying dishes. Also used to clean out some existing food stuffs. that is a great weekend 1 Quote Instagram | pinterest read harder challenge | Battle Log | NROLFW Challenges: 13-1 | 13-2 | 13-3 | 13-3.5 | 14-1 | 14-2 | 15-1 | 15-2 | 15-3 | 15-4 | 15-5 | 16-1 | 16-2 | 16-3 | 16-4 | 16-5 | 16-6 | 16-7 | 16-8 | 17-1 | 17-2 | 17-3 | 17-4 | 17-5 | 17-6 | 17-7 | 17-8 | 17-9 | 17-10 | 18-1 | 18-2 | 18-3 | 18-4 | 18-5 | 18-6 | 18-7 | 18-8 | 18-9 | 18-10 | 19-1 | 19-2 | 19-3 | 19-4 | 19-5 | 19-6 | 19-7 | current Link to comment
