Happy anniversary!

Thanks!

Re playlists: today "My Name is Prince" is the one that got me through, but I've decided that a rowing playlist would be incomplete without Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."

Ok so if I make a rowing playlist with music specifically for rowing, what should I put on it? ;)

Rowing by Soundgarden and Down with the Ship by NOFX! :)

I think this is my current list for 2018:

  • Finish my novel
  • Take a karate class
  • Do an obstacle course race
  • Put monkey bars on the back yard gym

Also, I joined NF right after new year 2016, so this is (approximately) my 2nd anniversary as a Rebel.

Happy NFiversary!

Um, I love lists. And think this is a good one.

Thanks! Yeah, I've sort of fallen off the NFA XP train. I've done most of the things I can accomplish for now, and I forget to ever go back and look for possible things I can add.

Hey, gang -- back from cardio day at the gym. I did 5k on the elliptical and tried to go as easy on myself as possible. My legs (yes, and butt, before you all ask) are still aching from MONDAY'S suspension workout and I have kickboxing class tomorrow, so I really tried not to wreck myself further.

What did this week tell me? That I should probably take those one-legged squats out of my suspension bodyweight routine and do straight-up regular squats if I'm also going to be rowing and doing cardio and kickboxing.

Monday is a holiday in the US, but my kickboxing gym has their regular schedule on, so I'm going to try to get an extra KB class in.

Kickboxing class accomplished! And Ms Rogue came with me today. That's four workouts for me this week.

Ideally, I feel like a rotation like this would be great: strength/bodyweight, rowing, cardio, kickboxing. There are going to be a lot of weeks when I can't do all that, but it'd be a good target routine.

Me too. I kind of feel like I need to put it somewhere I can see it regularly, just to refill my heart from time to time.

Luke Skywalker has been my hero since I was 7. 2017 was the year I realized Mark Hamill is also one of my heroes.

I only just discovered how awesome Mark Hamill is this year.  Better late than never.  A national treasure.

TODAY:

25 minutes of rowing. I think that is a personal best. I was going to do some leg lifts for abs afterward, but man, that was enough.

Made appointment for a physical, and gave the doc's office a heads-up that I want to talk to my doctor about knee problems.

That comic happens to me CONSTANTLY

I was right: feeling yesterday's workout all over today. I'm glad I got out of the house and did it.

Today is a rest day. I'm jam-packed all week since I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning and Friday I'm at an all-day conference out of town. I'm going to wedge in a workout tomorrow afternoon so I can at least get my three in.

So this happened:

We got two snow days, yesterday and today (Thursday), so I haven't gotten back to the gym. Yesterday was too cold and icy for outdoor exercise. Today I'll at least get a good walk in -- I'm leaving the house for the first time since Tuesday, going to the store, meeting a friend for lunch, and I have to walk to pick up a rental car for a day trip tomorrow.

I've got two cookbooks on the sofa next to me and I'm going to pick out a healthy recipe to cook this weekend. I guess it'll be Saturday before I get properly back on the workout schedule, though.

I was actually sort of glad to have to drive to Macon for an all-day conference today, just to have a structured day in which I had to wear something besides sweatpants. :)

Ok I’m not quite sure I understand, but good for you ;)

Yeah, I know, I know -- sweatpants days are great. But being stuck home alone and not being able to go out and do anything wasn't great. :) I had a good conference day. Got involved in some new stuff, saw a friend, met a couple of new people, and got some really nice compliments on my work. I sat in on a committee meeting about a scholarship raffle fundraiser for new librarians/LIS students to get them funds to attend their first conferences, and I contributed a copy of my book and got my tattoo artist to donate a tattoo gift certificate as prizes.

I went to kickboxing this morning -- so I'll only get two workouts in this week. Back to a normal schedule next week. (It's 62F today, btw, and will be 64 tomorrow.)

Have meditated every day (still need to do so today). I have lost a couple of pounds of post-holiday weight.
