Happy New Year fair Druids :tranquil:

My last few challenges have left me uninspired, so I am joining you with my efforts to realign and find fresh perspective. It has been a year of sea changes and I am in need of some introspection :D I enjoy GIFs and emojis and exploring raw emotions.

I'm keeping things very simple to start, and will try to flush out details as I go :)

FOCUS

Moving Meditation (4X per week/Leaves)

Combining my martial and fine arts practices, this is an experiment in meditative mark making that utilizes qigong movements, starting with a piece of the Ving Tsun form Silumtao.  I will allow the details of the movements to evolve as I explore, and post photos for accountability.

Ditch the Dew (As per)

I have a pretty bad Stardew Valley habit that I need to get under control. I believe I use it as a numbing agent so I don't have to deal with some of the more difficult things hapenning in my life, but it's also just very fun. This is a goal requiring limitations: Do NOT play for more than 1 hour at a time. After 1 hour, do something on the list. (Still in progress on the bujo page) Must have 1 hour break in between. One meanie pic on bujo page for every fail.

COMMUNICATE

Write it Out (1X per week/Pansies)

In the past year I've done a 180 and become completetly over socialed after a long period of being people starved and pretty damn lonely. I am predominantly extroverted, but currently stretched way too thin between a very social job, and new and old friends and the activities that come with all of it. Honestly... I'm not sure how I feel about everything other than being overwhelmed. Stream of consciousness has helped in the past and so I will try it here to see if I can set some priorities down with a weekly journaling.

Find A Pro (1X per challenge/Rose)

I'm no stranger to therapy, but it's been awhile. I feel that I'm in a place where I would benefit from regular counseling. I have started to research local options and must get to the point of the process where I make a sit down appointment with one of the prospects by the end of the challenge.

This sounds fantastic, and something I would like to explore in a future life when I have some knowledge/practice of martial arts.  Looking forward to your pics!

It's interesting, though the way I currently have it set up, I'm concerned it's a bit limited. Time will tell, I think I'll give it at least 2 weeks before even considering making any changes. Here are the first few sessions. I use different colors each time and think, for now, I'll be changing paper once a week :D  (Mr Red brought me home some crisp brown butcher paper I will try next week.)

Each stroke is either a breath in (/up), or out (/down).

Aw thanks! Most of my bujo spreads are typically grids, but I just wasn't feeling it this time. I get upset when perfect things aren't perfect, and I'm kind of digging the coloring book feel for this. I like doing coloring books for morning meditations anyway, so it sort of worked together ^_^

I LOOOOVE seeing people's bujos if you ever feel like sharing!!!! I would love to see :D

HIEEEE you found me :P No worries, I know how tricky cross guild can be. You know where I am ;)

_____

Success on SV so far today, it's my day off and it's super easy to get sucked in all day. I think having some sort of timer will help... I'll bug Mr Red later to see if I can use the Alexa I got him for the holidays :P

I had an eye checkup this morning and looks like my vision is getting slightly better somehow? The doc thinks it's due to better hydration ^_^ So I'm dialing back the Rx, and also ordered some frames to try to wear to work instead of contacts. I didn't have my usual anxiety about picking frames, there were several right away that I liked, so I think that means I'm in a good place for body image confidence.

Also did some breathing/drawing (see above), and gearing up to clean out my draws a bit to make room for better clothes. (Since starting my new job... I just look like a gym rat all the time, and not a cute one. I need some new solutions that make me feel like a together and chic human being while still fitting into my lifestyle. I have some ideas... but I need to clear out the old and make room for the new. ANY FASHION IDEAS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Basically I wear black legging and sneakers and a uniform tee shirt. Obvs the tee can come off when I leave but it would be best if the other stuff could stay on.)

Did some writing out of ideas concerning work, but not sure I want to give myself full journalling credit. Mostly because it was only a few minutes. It did feel good tho and I worked out some ideas, so I'm happy that this feels like a good goal for now. Work out dem ideas!  I think I'll start a document somewhere. (I thought about hand writing it, but I'm such a fast typer now that writing might slow down the thought process.)

Soooo that's where I'm at! Excellent to be along side ya'll, and happy weekend!

Hey you!!!! I'll be making my way through the warrior soon too ^_^ Happy challenge!!

Soooo fashion - what I'm hearing is sneakers are your main way to show personality at work? Have you thought about custom designing yours? I know nike offers it and I suspect others let you customize colors too.

Also, positive body image? Such a win.

Well.... this is true. But so far I only wear black sneakers LOL I am doing leg warmers this winter tho, because they make my legs look great ;) and my ankles were getting cold. In the summer I usually wear capris :D I like the idea of upping the sneaker game tho and we should brainstorm that some!!! But I'm not so concerned about my on the job look, it's pretty much decided for me.

AAAAAfter work tho, and working out, I run errands, see friends etc. I want to get a look together that goes with black leggings (I mean come on, how hard could that be?) looks chic with a splash of punk, and is something I can easily toss into my gym bag and feel comfortable in after a work out. I'm basically looking for day to night staples, but the day is all active wear lmao

I think one of the problems is that my main layering staple are 90s-esque cardigans. Awesome with jeans... not great with leggings. I could swap out my sneeks for boots and booties and that would look great... but maybe over the head layers? Yoga brand type long sleeve tops? It's gonna be cold here for a good 3 - 4 more months... I tend to do hoodies because I'm chilly working out for the first 5 minutes. But that's what makes me feel shlubby at the bar after. I kinda like the idea of more chic long sleeves...

YASSSS I've def seen some sweet "post active" yoga gear in the lovely natural soft materials that look kinda crazy to work out in, but maybe are okay for those first five minutes that I'm just warming up LOL that was I'm not carrying an extra hoody and a million outfits? A sweet little dress/tunic would be a perfect thing to keep in my bag for just in case social things. I'm also thinking I should toss a small bag of going out accessories in there. They'll take up less space than outfits and totes game changers on an overall look! :D THANKS!

Thanks! It's kind of an art series utilizing elements from my practice more than practice itself, but I've done a few hybrid projects like this in the past and I always enjoy them :)

I guess I should explain a little about myself and my background since I'm new around here? I'll spoiler to avoid excess...

Spoiler

So... hi there! I'm RedStone, GL over in the warrior class ^_^ tho my physical practices tend to span many genres, I enjoy thinking about strength in all that it can mean. I started out as a competitive gymnast and then was a varsity diver for my university. After college (and an attack I endured during), I started my Kung Fu journey with Ving Tsun and have been teaching for about 10 years now. I worked in the arts for many years as well, (design, photography etc) and only recently turned the coin to be a fitness professional full time. I'm a personal trainer at a health facility, and currently specialize in orthopedic exercise - think post rehab for injuries and musculoskeletal issues of all kinds, young and old. I practice movement with a parkour group, and try to face a major fear every year.

I have a life long relationship with disordered eating, and am very open to discussion concerning pretty much everything. I subscribe to the notion that dialogue and open communication is a major factor in recovery and maintenance there of.

Otherwise I like making art, playing music, and now I'm not sure if I'm trying to introduce myself or internet date all of you. Soooo.... Happy Saturday dear sweet nerds <3 Let's rock this B like it's 1999!

So far so good! Journalling was really successful the other day. I got a little app called NoteSpirit which may be useful down the road if I keep this practice up. (I... tend to low ball my goals when I need to snowball the wins. Journalling once a week will likely be more but I find that when I have trouble with challenges, keeping them easy helps me to get back on my game.)

Mr Red set up Alexa again and she yelled at me this morning to quit stardew after an hour. SOLID. That will come in very handy indeed! Also bringing my laptop to the club, but without gaming mouse and mousepad, should help increase productivity and decrease gaming. (As opposed to coming home for my long breaks, which I often do, game, and then feel dazed for my evening training blocks.)

I fear that the coloring book style bujo page might be a problem (in the best way), I'm dying not to color it all in at once! I think that'll keep me coming back and make sure I do the things. Also makes me kinda itch to pull out my other coloring books. Perhaps that will happen as well lol

Well this weekend ended up being surprisingly productive! Last week I found a little pod espresso maker on my towns used trade site (only $20!) and when I went to set it up... it didn't fit where I had expected to put it. This resulted in an impromptu rearranging/cleaning of the kitchen. It's way more functional and we got rid of some nonsense that was in the way. Feels great to have that done! Of course I immediately trashed it with this weeks batch cook... but that's what it's for after all LOL and all tidy again now :D

(Also that cup of red eye was AWESOME when I first woke up!!)

I swapped out my lift on Saturday for a gentle yoga class because I did something to my shoulder on Thursday. (Still had ab DOMS yesterday tho lol) I've been good about letting it rest, and even better about NOT sleeping on it, so I'm going to go ahead and do my "A" day (glutes and chest) and see how that goes this afternoon, and just lay off anything that aggravates it. Then on weds for shoulder day, I'll start with rehab work and see how it goes.

Still haven't started on my drawers... even tho it's not an official goal on my challenge I'm kind of treating it like it is LOL incentive being new clothes!! I did put most of the holiday decorations away, and that kitchen and everything, so that's a start. Spent some time with Mr Red, possibly some of the best quality time we've had in awhile. I need more of that.

Happy Monday all! Awesome weeks all around.

HI GUYSSSS LOVE YOOOOOOSEEEE <3

_____

DUDES. I'm exhausted. I had one of those days yesterday where I hit an energy wall at around 4pm, had a solid workout before that, and went to get some new sneakers (I've been wearing just one pair for like 2 months. It's getting gross...) and also ended up wandering around the mall for awhile, so I guess it kinda makes sense that I got sleepy. I took a nice hot bath with salts and suds, and crashed pretty early, I'd guess no later than 10. LOW AND BEHOLD I woke up bright eyed at about 3am, and got an extra hour or 2 after 5am. Today has been very very long, but I did get a breathing/meditation sesh in, and the exhaustion levels were pretty nice for that LOL def in a walking trance to begin with hehee

I start work later tomorrow, and have a very easy schedule, so I think I'll get a melatonin in tonight, have plenty of time for some journaling and stuff in the morning, and possibly a date with Mr Red after work and a workout... probably back day sans shoulders.

I also fixed up my new rainbow totem necklace in my dream state this morning!! (got some beads and chain over the holidays). It's a visual reminder to put quality into my body - nutrients, exercise, self care - rather than limitations, doubt and punishment - and is 100% inspired by this graphic:

Even got a few nice comments about it at work ^_^

also I bought my first dress from asos recently and I freaking love it. they have a wide range of stuff but you could definitely find cheap cute dresses or tunics to put over your leggings! some of their sweatshirts even look cute enough to wear out. look at this cute thing!

So yesterday was more productive after getting some real sleep, and I think today will be so, even more ^_^ (cause I went over calories on a bottle sake at sushi date night and burned out my energy on Nintendo Wii after and slept like the DEAD lol)

SO... flirting with MFP again, and recalled my cal needs based on where I'm at. I'm easing into it, no major pressure.

Did my drawing yesterday, and writing, started looking at my drawers and as I said, this should be relatively easy to clean out. One solid rainy day should do it lol. Got in an interesting lift yesterday... will report more on that later cause Imma be late!!!!

Happy Thursday Folks!

So far it's working out extremely well. I've set it way high, and doing highs and lows depending on training days from this little guy. Loosely... so long as I'm close on both days.

Very comfortable and they look pretty cool ^_^ Totem, thank youuuu I was iffy about a rainbow because I'm not a 12 year old girl, or even a 24 year old super cool girl. But it's pretty and catches my eye. Good reminder, I'm feeling good about it so far!

Things are going well with challenge goals, as well as the goals that should have been the challenge but I wasn't ready to emotionally commit to. Training is back in force, regular workouts, and a solid couple of runs even! (I haven't had a real running program since last spring when I pulled my psoas) I made it back to parkour tonight for the first time since before new years and it felt great, and changed the meditation paper to this nice brown butcher paper Mr Red had, and swapped out the crayons for black and white pastels. Journaling has been great for keeping my thoughts clear, and in general, I'm already feeling much more centered than at the beginning of the challenge :D Here's to a few more weeks of good things!

Happy weekend nerdlings! <3
