There is a goat farm just outside of town, where we've previously bought fresh goat milk and various kinds of goat's cheese. I loved it. When we bought goat's milk, pasteurised from the same farm, but in a shop in town, it was salty! Rocco loved it, but no one else did.

That's why I won't ever try Whole 30, I love my dairy too much. Bread I won't really miss, but milk, cheese, cream... also probably why I struggle to loose weight :P

I guess I am lucky that I enjoy dairy substitute milk. I even like my coconut/almond milk creamer better than regular half and half. Some people do successfully follow a modified Paleo / Whole30 that includes full-fat milk , full-fat cream, and full-fat cheese in small quantities. I also discovered this wonderful thing that I can buy at a little health food deli. CASHEW CHEESE. It's really delicious!!!! It is soft and has a very sharp taste, and is great used kind of the way you would use feta or blue cheese - little small bits mixed into salads, eggs, etc.  I buy a block when I feel like treating myself. I only really miss real milk when I make cocoa, so I'll pull it out for that sometimes.

 

But really though - if you have no medical or dietary reason to ditch dairy and you love it, why do it?  :)  Everyone feels better on different stuff.

Ok so I have been doing terrible at posting my food.  I am gong to make up for that this morning.  Now, Yesterday.  No workout as I had a ton of errands to do , so just a nice walk after I was done to relax before I went to game night and tried to kill off my players.

 

  I had a nice meal last night, and it was plenty of food.  I had more fish left over as I thought I would want a lot more but didn't.  I had a single plate and was satisfied.  I made Baked Whitefish with garlic and paprika with a Ghee drizzle, roasted red potatoes with home made Olive Oil and mustard seed mayonnaise and chopped spinach with Ghee and sea salt.

the day before I got up early or rather on time and was hungry so I made a real breakfast.

Ribeye steak with garlic and cracked pepper, roasted red potatoes with dill and sea salt, scrambled eggs with cartelized onions with a strawberry compote on the side.

Sorry for how dark it is.  I will try to get it lighted better.

 

And this morning I had a nice breakfast as well.  I made a Frittata, sautéed mixed capsicum and spinach.

So I am still learning phone photography, so bare with me.  Also I have decided that this year I need to start respecting myself and my food more so I am trying to plate it.  I normally throw it in a bowl if not eat out of the preparing device.  I am trying to set a plate up and then sit at my table to eat it.  Let me know how you like the presentation and any advice would be helpful.  

 

I promise more food porn to come!

The food looks delicious and good on the plates. I was wondering about the cutlery, but thank you for clearing that up ;) You and Rocco will get along just fine. He apparently told my mil straight that I taught him how to use a knife and a fork, but he doesn't like using them unless it is really necessary. Brandt couldn't care less. I only found out last night when he (Rocco) sighed and asked whether I would like him to use his cutlery?

Ding a ding Ding!    Dinner time!

 

Well I got in my exercise climbing my three flights of stairs carrying furniture, charcoal, and tools to get my roof retreat done.  Had two friends come over and give a hand and then I made dinner.  Figure I did about 1500 steps today going up, and that many down again.  Good enough for today.

So I don't have the tiki torches up nor any of my potted plants as the pots and the torches were all destroyed by the sun.  I am going to get more I think tomorrow.

I needed to thank my friends for coming over and helping so I made some food.

 

  Peri Peri Chicken Kabobs with Onion and red pepper, Steamed buttered broccoli, roasted sweet potage fries and Peri Mushrooms.  

 

 

I figured I might as well open the 2018 grilling season too.  In two months air temp will match grill temp.

ODIN! ODIN! ODIN!

 

  Praise from  the Temple of Fe!

 

I made it to the gym for my first real heavy workout of the year and it was in the new gym.  EPIC!  It is awfully functional Death Gym Star thing now.  Started with Leg press and Pressed it!  5 sets of 10 with 120 kg, then to Leg Curl, actual machines without extraneous cushions to make it hurt more, 5 sets of 10 with 50 kg.  Leg Curl thats right 5 sets of 10 at 50 KG.  Then over to Fort Push Press.  this one was kicking my tush, had dropped about 5kg some last time in the gym 3 weeks ago.  But I still did 5 sets of 10 at 95 kg, instead of 100 but yeah I got to cuss at myself to get one rep out and had people in the gym looking at me like I was starting to change like a lycan.  Yeah It is good scaring the big guys.  then we went to Scott Presses and I nearly Puked!  5 sets of 12 with 12 kg dumbbells.  Then over to Calf raise and did 190kg 5 sets of 10 3 up hold 5 3 down.  Yeah My calves were on fire!   Then to ABS!  Did roman Chair, new roman car and it felt unstable but I got 3 sets of 15 in. then reverse roman chair, 3 sets again with 20 kg on chest.  Then reverse crunches with pushdowm=ns. Di  5 sets and kicks =d my partner in the chest every time for all sets!  First time for that.   Then wall walk one set but 30 second hold.  Oh Mama.

 

  I was wearing my Deadpool shirt, and he should have worn a wet suit.  I was soaked.  

 

  Went Down and changed into trunks and went to the indoor whale bath.  Did 1000m of breast stroke just because I can!  

 

Suck It Cold!  You are not the boss of me!

  I feel tired, like bone weary tired lol but good.  Also My Roman Chair was being delivered as I drove up so I k=now have an implement of self torture right here in my home!

 

  So All is good.  here is dinner tonight.

Ok, I think I broke my legs.  not the bones but everything else. lol.  I got out of bed this morning and I wobbled like a new born foal.  

 

   Going good here, and I finally bit the bullit and am starting down the well lit road of Mr. Extracurricular again.  I signed up for a jive/swing class once a week in Dubai last night.  SO Tuesday evenings I will be lifting, swimming and then going dancing.  I used to do Swing 12 years ago in San Diego and I even went to a couple of Viva Las Vegas events, 8,9,10.  So I guess this diet and exercise thing is working after all.  I may not be spelt and lithe as a panther but I got energy and confidence again, in myself.  All I can say is its a good thing Im not single again lol.

ODIN! ODIN! ODIN!

 

Well Yesterday as I am late in updating, was another brutal workout.  This one was upper body.

 

  Started with Bench Press and was a little disappointed.  Apparently doing no upper body excercises for 3 weeks caused me to loose gains from before, huh.

 

  We did 5 sets of 10, and started low, only 40 kg but worked up to 80 kg.  then we did 5 singles at 100 kg.  So felt weak but I got all the singles done. I was unable to to complete all 10 reps on the final set of 10 with 80kg however.

Next was 5 sets of 10 stiraght bar curl.  New gym has more loose bars so my partner and I did them with our own bar.  He said since I was going to do more weight than hm blah blah.  well, it turns out he was right and it worked well.  I did max of 3 kg for 10 reps, I did this weight 3 of my 5 sets.  I had perfect form until rep 7 on the last set.  Then I started cheating.  So. finished the last three as cheats.  Im ok with it, by this point I was imitating a cold glass of water on a hot day, and sweating everywhere.

 

 I won't do blow by blow but the new gym has a HEX BAR!  So Deadlifts or as I had them on the training sheet Dad Lifts.  Well We didn't go high on these since it was a new workout device so we weighed it and it comes in at 30 kg by itself.  So 110 kg was where we stopped upward progression and concentrated on the new feel.  It was good I liked it but my partner LOVED it.  I was actually worried there may be a man spill he was so happy.  We also did seated rows, cause this gym got that.  I love seated rows and had previously showed my partner how to do them on our expedition to Golds gym.  Well Got that up to 50 kg sets of 10 0 up 1 hold, 3 down.  Yeah feel that burn baby.

 

Finished off with reverse crunch pushdowns  and I have been doing these wrong apparently.  My partner mentioned it seems like I am trying to resist the legs going down as soon as he throws them and I said " Yea" he said no you are supposed to let them fall and stop them abruptly before the floor.  I figured ok no problem.  It turned this into a new exercise.  Wow I felt that in my abs they felt like they were tearing.   that ended the workout yesterday. I was going to swim but not only forgot my gym towel I forgot the pool towel.  Oh and my shirt was soaked hem to hem front and back and looked like I took a plunge.

 

 Dinner last night, and sorry no picture as I inhaled it.  Was a simple beanies chili.  I put 1kg of meet, two packs of whole mushrooms, 3 capsicum and a bunch of froze leeks  along with crushed tomatoes, tomato paste and spices in a pot then proceeded to eat half of it in a sitting.  I was hungry.

 

Anyway, that is it.  Today is leg day again and I still feel the workout from Sunday, this should be fun

Ok,  I think I may have been working to little last year.

 

   I am starving!  I mean looking at people walking by and thinking, I cold take that guy and roast him.  I am sore, generally sore all over.  Not pain per se but fatigue.  I am very hungry and I am eating quite a bit.  I mean I made chili last night with 1 kg of ground beef and I ate half the pot!   I a sitting here waiting fot he clock to slowly creep by so I feel eating my lunch might get me home after the gym.  I haven't felt this hungry or general soreness since October 2017.  46 weeks into the last program.  I was working before and taking about 1 to 1.25 hours to complete a workout.  This your, Beast mode year, I increased the number of sets and added in one more weight lifting exercise per day and 3rd day in after 2 workouts I am feeling it.   It is now taking us 1.75 to 2 hours to complete the workout, and that is not including swimming.  biggest change I believe is that we are doing the AB work every day.  Not just three times a week, and I am feeling the abs more than I have in months.  Oh, man.  Well, I think I am going to have to increase my food intake.  I even had 50 g of cashews 2 hours ago on top of my 4 large eggs with veggies for breakfast and I am really hungry.  I am also pounding more water.  I am shooting for 5 L per day, and I have already had 3.5 l today and it is only 11 AM.

 

  Well, I guess hunger pains count as pain for gainz right?

 Maybe, but in only the three workouts I doubt I added much muscle lol.  I think I woke up my metabolism and now the furnace is burning hot and demanding more.  I got home yesterday from the gym, after grabbing a handful of cashews I had handy in my car, and ate a can of tuna, then cooked some chicken thighs so I had food today, and ate two of those.  Then went to Dubai for dinner with a friend ate dinner, about 250 grams of kofta and Turkish kebab, then finished her stew that she left lol.  I was still hungry.  I didn't eat any more but drove home and went to bed, but man.  The other end is also into this game now and I am having to visit the facilities 3 times a day for a download.  So I guess I am tuning it up.

 

  Well ODIN, ODIN, ODIN!

 

    Gym was excellent yesterday.  Did leg day and as I walked in the gym, my legs were still sore.  Did some light stretching and some stairs to loosen up and then went to it.  Started with Leg Press.  My partner indicated he wanted to go heavy on this one so we did.  Started with 120 kg for 2 sets of 10, then worked are way up to 240kg!  I think I could have done 250 but we didn't push it as we still had the rest of the exercises to do.  Moved over next to Straight bar curls.   I know I had just done them the day before but pfftt.  Suck it Biceps!  Did better yesterday than the day before.  I got 10 reps of 35 kg with good form for final set of 5.  Previous day I only got 30 kg.  I think I am going to start pushing curls more.  Neither of us saw great gainz in curl last cycle, so maybe we just need more repetition.  Moved to Calf raises.  DId 190 kg, max on machine.  Yeah I got home and showered and ran my hand down my calf, yip, little sore.  thought for certain I would be crippled this morning but, not bad at all.  Then to pushdowns.  I did rope push downs for the first 4 sets and went to 25 kg.  Previous max was 25, and on 5th set I changed to Y bar, and gave my partner the rope handle.  I did 15 res of 35 kg!  YEAH!  It is 2018 time to unleash the Beast!  Finished that and while we were scheduled to do ABS I had to pass.  Every exercise we did required tight core and it felt like someone was tearing my gut apart the whole time.  I decided that we were only doing 2 to 3 ab sessions, and lighter ab sessions prior to this.  Lets listen for a change and hold off.  ABS are happening on Thursday for certain.  SO as we were waling back toward the leg press area to collect our stuff, we both commented on how good our legs felt, and maybe we should do another set .  Luckily common sense prevailed and we said no.  I then proceeded to the pool and did another KM  there before heading home to get ready for dinner with my friend in Dubai.

 

  So Going good in the gym, just need more sleep and apparently more food.

 

I think this would be my ideal environment.

  Yeah just one today.

 

  I didn't lift t is a scheduled rest day and I didn't swim.  Today was sports day at work and we had a shop volley ball game which we won 2-0.  Yeah Us.  then was one of the big basketball matchups. B other teams are undefeated and I got elected as Ref.  So I reffed the game and I called all that running back and forth todays workout.  I was going to play pick up after all was done, but when shooting around I went 0-10 from even 3 feet away I said Nah.  I ned a real rest day though.  I went out last night and had 5 hours of sleep, so maybe in bed at my normal bed time 20.30 would be a good thing.

 

  Anyway, I am planning to make some food at home tonight and I will post a picture even if it looks like It should be served on a trash can lid.  Last night was out so no pic.

FOOD PORN!  As Promised.

 

 I was in a hurry tonight so I just did something easy and that I cold put in the oven and do other stuff.

 

 Cumined meatloaf with Mixed Capsicum , brazed carrots, steamed cauliflower and roasted red potatoes.  Oh and apparently a power cord and my feet.

Bento boxes are like the national past time for Japanese moms.  Do a google search for 'cute bento box' and you will be amazed with all of the amazing things some Japanese kids find in their lunchbox
