No I meant I should be the bear relaxing in a bed of food I was so hungry.

That's what I understood, but wow for the Japanese moms! I'm not showing that to the boys. Adam would refuse to eat something so cute, and Rocco... don't know, but just in case they want lunchboxes like that, no ways.

I'm also dragging today, due to heat and humidity. I'm calling myself lazy, as it wasn't supposed to be a rest day, but I just couldn't get up to do something this afternoon.

ODIN! ODIN! ODIN!

Gym Yesterday was great.  My Partner had to go to an emergency problem and is working today as well, it is our Weekend.  So I was alone in the gym, well me and the other 4 guys that are regulars.

I redid the same workout for upper body I did on Tuesday.  Early in the day my chest was still sore to the touch, but by 1330 I had no soreness and decided to go for it.  I was not able to do as many reps, but did get the same reps.  I am not happy with that but Ill take it.  I did more weight on Seated rows, and went to 55 kg instead of 50 kg I did on Tuesday.  I forgot how much I loved this exercise when I used to lift a lot.  I can really feel it in y back and I can already see change in just 3 sessions.

I used the hex bar again for dead lifts and yeah I think I am going to like that apparatus.  While I was there Russell, one of the regulars, older guy probably 52 is, asked Rav ( younger in shape Brit) and myself if we knew anything that could help hm with his sore back. he had low back pain all the time and thought it was due to weak low back.   We both looked at each other, I was working Bech with RAV at teh time, and simultaneously said " Dead Lift" lol.  So we got Russell going on dead lift with 40 kg, and working on form.  we got him sorted, and I wish my form was as good as his lol.  It may also be that I still have gut hanging over my belt and he is rail thin but whatever.  He got through 4 sets of 10 and felt good.  I then took him over and set him up on the Roman chair, and reverse roman chair.  He really liked that as well and said he was going to put that in his routine.  His back felt better just doing them.

the rest of the workout was pretty uneventful.  No big numbers no revelations.  It does feel good though to have someone come up and ask for help in the gym, and actually be able to tell them something, why it should help and show them how to do it properly.

the pool is not open on Thursday afternoon so no swim.  I instead went and spent 15 mins in the steam room.  I should have worn my swim trunks lol.  I came out and had to wring out my gym shorts, under shorts and figure out how to get tin my gym bag without contaminating anything else.

I also came t the conclusion I need t make some chicken up to have as a post workout snack.  It takes me 30 mins to get home from the gym, and then I need to cook something.  SO I am missing the post workout meal window big time.  I am also finding I am often really hungry after I finish particularly if I swim.

well I did a long hie this morning, and I am not going to the gym, I actually had a bunch of work emails about this new project they are standing up this weekend and had to answer them..  I am going to do a roast rip today and tonight I am going to Dubai to see La Perle , (

And I am staying IN Dubai tonight since I am going to the 2130 show, and there has been heavy fog lately.  It is about an hour drive home, and well it is also way b=past my bedtime too.

Tomorrow I am going to go shopping and do food, other than that I don't know of anything else to do.

So far this year things are going well, and you know it could be worse.

Oh, Dinner last night was same as previous night, I just ran out of potatoes, so I made steamed cabbage instead.  So no picture.  Dinner tonight will be at a restaurant so I may picture that.

As always, thanks for stopping by and thank you for the support.

ODIN!

Well I didn't do any formal exercise over the weekend but I walked, a lot.  I went up to Dubai for the Show Le Perle  Friday night and I was able to get in a light swim in the Hotel pool, but then I went to City Walk, which is like a Mall and I walked around that place for like 3 hours lol.  then I walked another 30 mins looking for my car in the parking garage lol.

brisk_walker.gif

The Show was really good, but it was over priced.  I know how much productions like that cost and all, but it was a full 1/3 more expensive than my 4th row center seats to La Boehme at the Dubai Opera on opening night.  If it was half the cost they charged I would recommend the show and probably go back.

La-Perle-Master-2048x1536.jpg

I am still on track for the whole 30, but it was difficult while out on mini-holiday.  It was not that I had trouble resisting the temptations it was actually finding things in the restaurants I could eat.  I would see something that looked fantastic, read the description and realize I would have to ask for so many modifications that it was not worth it.  So I ended up having a lovely meal of marinated olives, for appetizer, then a lovely fish stew, followed by a main of grilled Sea Bass with roasted parsnips.  The down side was that I was hungry the entire weekend.  I mean it was good, but no where near enough food.  I also had not planned accordingly and had nothing with me, no nuts fruit or anything.  Oh well, a little gnawing hunger won't kill you.

79371346gecca_sm.jpg

The star of the weekend however was in my room.  Not the room itself but a fixture in the shower.  Now I have looked into these while re-modeling my home in the US and never really got the big deal.  Well I am now a huge fan of Rain Showers.  I('m not super tall ( 6'3", 191 cm) but most showers hit me in the middle of my chest.  This bad boy was 8 feet in the air ad it came straight down.  It was heavenly.  I liked it so much I took 4 showers while I was there.  If I had had a chair or stool I could have moved in there I would have just stayed there all weekend I think.  So now I am trying to see how I can incorporate one in my current bathroom.

rain_shower.gif

Backing up a bit, it has been a bit cool here, well extremely pleasant the locals think it is cool, 23 C average.  So I decided I would break out my jeans and wear them instead of my usual shorts.  Well when I was at home in September I bought a pair of jeans that fit me well.  I had gotten too small for the jeans I brought with me, and these were a little tight but no issue.  Well I put them on Friday Morning and thought they seemed a bit baggy.  well when I put on my belt, it was not just a thought.  I had bunching all around the waistband, and it looked like I was wearing clown pants around my thighs and stomach.  I had to pull the pants around to the back so the bunching was not in the front.  I was feeling pretty good about that.  I had noticed that my pants had ben fitting different but these are a pair that I know how they fit, and don't wear often.  So the change here was enough to make me notice.

Well fast forward to yesterday  after going to an Organic grocery and café, which I will talk about soon, I came home and changed my clothes into workout shorts.  While I was standing in underwear and stocking feet, I decided to pull out "The Pants" I had in my closet.  When I went shopping for new work clothes prior to coming over here, I found a beautiful Navy blue linen pair of Brooks brother slacks but they were much to small for me.  I was not going to buy them, but my wife said " You are planning to work out and get smaller, go ahead and get them as a goal/reward thingy."  I had doubts as I have tried that before and well, I end up giving the brand new clothes to thrift store a year or so later.  Well I reached in and took them off the hanger.  the last time I tried them was early December and I could not fasten them.   This day I slid them on my legs and prepared myself to see some movement toward closure but put them back in the closet.  Instead I closed first the pull over button then the waist button and zipped them up!  THEY F'IN FIT!  They are slightly tight, but no tighter than I would wear clothes.  I am giving it another week or so before they go in my actual wardrobe but damn it they are something I can wear now!  I have said it before,  I can tell stuff is changing but it is slow, and nothing dramatic so it is hard for me to notice.  This has made me notice.  This means that I have lost 6 inches off my waist since I started getting serious about this In July of 2017.  Biggest gains have come since I went to the gym and started lifting again 18 September 2017 and joined Nerd Fitness.  I wrote a note to my wife yesterday evening telling her about the weekend, and expressing how much it means to me that she believed in me when I didn't believe in myself.

heart-animation3.gif

No on to the Organic Market & Café.   I had been told by one of the regular gym guys that lives in Dubai about this place so when I checked out of the hotel, shortly after my 4th and final shower, I went to find this place for brunch and do some of my shopping for the week.  Well it is a nice little place, but crowded.  It turns out I picked the right day because the 3rd weekend of each month they have 20% off.  Well I had a nice organic lunch from the buffet, not a lot I could eat but that was ok, I could get as much as I wanted.  I had roasted beef, roasted bell peppers, zucchini, and butternut squash.  Combined with a lovely Kale salad.  Once I had finished and was full for the first time in 48 hours, I venture into the store.  Well I found some nice Peppers, eggs and chicken.  I found almost everything on my list, yes I brought a list with me, and went to check out.  I did not bring bags with me so I had to pay for paper ones.  Oh well, no problem expected it with the crunchy crowd.  Then my total came up for my weeks worth of food.  YIKES!  It cost me as much for one week of food as it normally does for 2.  I think I know how people that eat only organic actually lose weight, they can't afford to eat enough food!  I hoe that there is a real difference in the flavor or it will be a rare thing to go to organic all the way.  I try to buy organic things now, like veggies I am going to eat all of, skin included, but eggs?  it cost me more for 10 eggs than it does for 30 normally.  I eat 6 eggs a day.  So this morning I ate my eggs and hmm they tasted the same as normal.

You-cant-eat-gold-but-you-cant-eat-paper

Today is a busy day.  I have work, but it is after this that it gets busy.  I mentioned last week I was an official for a basketball game.  Well this week we are playing the winner f that game an we are the last undefeated teams in the series.  So we are having basketball practice today and tomorrow after work.  So I will go to the basketball practice, then I am going to lift as usual, then swim.  After that I need to run a couple of errands as well as call my wife for our weekly conversation.  So I should sleep well tonight.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for your support.

That is awesome about the slacks!  Those tangible evidences of improvement are super meaningful :)

Sounds like a very nice weekend overall.  Mi Vieja loves those rain showers, but I still prefer the normal ones, probably more because I am used to them anything else.

With regard to organic food, most places in the world have very relaxed regulations about the definition of "organic" so a very popular model here is to basically sell the same things as other stores but slap an organic label on it and charge double the price.  Apparently people are willing to pay more because it has that label, but don't care enough to research exactly what they are paying for.

Im mostly doing it for two reasons.

  1. I can now say that I have tried it, not long term but I did it.
  2. I was lazy and was already there and didn't want to go to my normal market when I drove back.

It's ridiculous, like WG said. One of the farmers who sell veggies at the Farmers' Market on a Saturday, firstly supplies Woolworths here with organic veg. Really organic as in no chemical insecticide, cultivated in tunnels, and I don't know what else, but he is true to his word. He sells his veg at the same price he sells it to the shop for, making a profit. They sell his veg for double that price, if not more. No his veg isn't that much different than other veg, but they taste good, and huge. I get more veg for the same price as I would pay to some of the other sellers.
As soon as a shop slaps a label on (organic, healthy, Banting approved, Primal, etc. etc.) they increase the price substantially.

ODIN!

Well yesterdays workout was err different.  My workout partner got called to an emergency repair so he didn't make the gym at all.  I went to basketball practice, of which I have one today as well, and did that for 90 mins.  After that was done, I was pretty whipped and since I had no one on the gym with me, elected to punt and swim instead.  I did 1km in the pool, and then moved to do the errands I needed to get done.  I was tired in the pool.  The running around and doing all the hands up defense drills and then offensive drills tired out my arms and well everything.  I think going to the gym would have been a mistake on my part as I doubt I would have had he clairvoyance to go lighter and maintain form.

All in all I still got a respectable workout even if it was not anabolic.  Today is more of the same, but I am going to try and get in the gym today even if it is just getting on some machines and doing a circuit.  Tuesday is a off day for basketball, with our game on Wednesday, so I plan to lift tomorrow, and then swim if time permits as I go to my first Dance class tomorrow night.

Food was good, I did Peri Peri chicken again and made a bag of chopped spinach.  The chicken was easy, I just cubed the chicken thighs used some onions and peppers I already had prepped and threw it in the oven while I showered and cleaned up a bit.  I then poured pre made Peri sauce on it and wolfed it down.  I have a picture but have not uploaded it yet, I will do that sometime today.  and put it up.

talked to my wife last night for about 40 mins.  Things are going well, looks like September is the move time frame.  We will see as winter is really putting a hold on getting anything meaningful done prep wise.

Anyway almost time to head out to gym.  Thanks for stopping by and thanks for all the encouragement.

Today on How Greg did at the gym, we find are intrepid hero, sweating like a Lobster at a fat guy convention Clam bake.

I went to Basketball practice and set many pics.  I also did about a bazillion drills for setting said pics and also screens.  Very tiring.  I did not lift today.  I did swim again 1000m.

Not much to report other than I am tired.  Dinner tonight was roasted chicken quarter, chopped spinach and minced potatoes with peppers.

Glad things are going well her side. Is she still ok? Not becoming too anxious?

Food looks delicious.

Swimming is super tiring. I remember when I took swimming lessons and afterwards when I tried to keep up when the boys took swimming lessons. Glad you got something in, and hope you had a good night's rest.

All the best for the match tomorrow.

ODIN!

Well I went to gym today and  did more drills with one of the guys today.  We were seeing a lot of use setting pics and screens yesterday.  he is one of our point guards and I play center or guard.  So I set up screens for him to shoot over me and fake pics so he could drive the lane.  get used to how I position etc.  then we did a lot of shooting.  for 90 mins lol.  I decided not to swim or lift today, I want to be fresh as I can for tomorrows game.  I know it is a recreation league but I want to win!  Once this is over I will be back at it hard.  But I just don't want to be selfish and work out to much today and not be at my best for the team tomorrow.

thanks for the Looks delicious comments.  I am enjoying it.  I have been sending the pics to friends of mine on WhatsApp, and I have two of them that want me to help them with food plans and shopping so they can start eating healthier :)  So I guess it is helping somewhere.

I had a person ask me today if I always cracked jokes.  to which I replied " are you serious right now?"  Then said I do.  They used whyy I do it.  I told them that I have been all over the world and I have seen abject poverty and misery of all kinds.  I feel strongly that if I can crackle joke, make one person chuckle or smirk or outright smile a day, it was worth getting up that day.  They walked off without another word.  I don't think they expected a reasoned answer.

I will amend this post as well tonight when I get my dinner done.  I am not sure what I am making other than it is out of ground beef.   wish me luck.

Well, I decided to go off the path tonight.  I made cauliflower and minced beef stuffed peppers, brazed carrots and sautéed eggplant with mustard seed.  I won't have peppers for my morning eggs but I had to sacrifice. :P

BRODIN!  ALL FATHER OF GAINZ!  I know you are punishing me for not worshiping in the temple of Fe, but it was a team thing!

odin_by_kejablank-d6f644b.jpg

Well, we had the big undefeated contest today, and we lost, lost badly.

Final score was 39 to 25.  I had 9 points and 8 rebounds, but we didn't't win so kind of tastes like ash you know?

Before I go into my gripes I have to give them props, they drained 9, 3 pointers like they were using laser guidance.  We had pretty much shut down the lane so they started popping from downtown.  Usually we just plan to box out and recover the misses, they just didn't miss.

Now to the gripes.  We had good officials this time, we had to go looking for people that would be un-biased and it payed off.  However,  I was really getting tired of being elbowed, shoved and generally manhandled.  I wanted to strike back as that is my style of play but when the Brigadier that is sponsoring the event tells your team in a previous game, at half time, on the court, stop be friendly and since he can decide I am no longer needed in this great job, I had to hold it.    They were doing it to everyone.  As an example, they fouled out an entire line.  Yeah and entire line and entered into team penalties.  We had 5 played in a row that we got free shots due to fouls, non ball fouls.  If it had been a game where other than friendly, we work with these guys, I would have put chiclets on the floor.  Their fees are bout the same height at best of my horizontal elbow.  Just saying, they were playing school yard basketball and we were warned that we could not return.

We started playing a 2,1,2 defense and they were having pretty good success.  We should have changed it during the first half but didn't.  The Half score was 25 to 8.  We switched to a 1,3,1 defense n the second half and held them pretty well.  Having a point man playing the ball really hurt them a lot.  If we had done this halfway through the first half, we would have had a real chance.  Oh well.  We still did better against them than any other team. They practice twice a day everyday.  They get dispensation from their officer to go and practice during work hours.  So the fact they play all the time, are all younger than us we didn't do bad.  Our average age on the team is 53.  Im under the average at 47 lol.

131

x131ZoneDefense1A.GIF.pagespeed.ic.FXEQ7

Well, after we lost, I got called over by my LT and he told me I was playing with the Calibration lab on the football match.  We lost this 4-Nil and it was ostensibly my fault as keeper.  I had 8 saves though so you know.   One of the scores was from my fullback trying to stop a long kick I had moved up to catch, and called him off and he tried to kick it, sorta hit it changed its direction by 40 degrees, and it went in the goal.  I stopped a penalty kick, and two, two on 1 situations.  Oh and the last time I was in goal I was 13.

What I thought I was doing for a while

tumblr_nsn64pqm7R1rylr5to1_500.gif

What it ended up being, except I didn't get dirty.

turkish-player-misses-a-wide-open-goal-f

So that being said I am tired.  I am hungry and a little down.  I am just glad we cut the basketball score to something close to respectable.

So no other gym report.  I am going to the gym tomorrow and may not have food porn for a few days.  I am ordering in take away tonight, all on plan, but I am pooped.

Tomorrow night is game night and I may or may not get pics of what I throw together after gym before games.  Then Friday I am going to Dubai to help a friend that wants to start eating healthy, and going shopping after we make a week meal plan and helping her prep.   I promised to make her lunch Friday, she has been loving my pics of food.  So I may get a picture of that.

Saturday I am doing a road trip, so I have no idea what I will post from that.  I need to get on the open road and turn up the tunes.

I got a couple of compliments today.  My OIC said " I have talked to several officers at sport and they are impressed that a man that looks fat like you is exercising, you run up and down the court or swim, sometimes both.  They think it is good."  I also had a couple of the guys we were playing today actually gulping air following me up and down the court.  Im not fast but I jogged the whole time.  I got a free shot wen they dragged a bit and I was open under the goal.

832677103.gif

So as I am about to leave I run not two Emirate soldiers I know and they are talking about some track and field thing.  One of the guys I know wants to do running, another wants to do Javelin and they are discussing know one has volunteered to do Shot Put.  Guess what idiot put his broken kneed hand up?  Thats right this guy.  I have thrown put before but again we are talking 30 years now.  I just don't know if I can do the movement to do it justice.  they said don't worry you can stand still and throw it.  no one else is trying.  So now I am going to be out of teh gym, so I can train for this lol.  I just can't let it alone.  oh and I have apparently given soft commitments to learning both Tango and Salsa as well as my Swing dance.  I think I am brain damage.  Can someone ask Tankimus or Dr. Feelgood to counsel me?

As Always thanks for dropping by and all the support.

I would like to. The only practice I had were 5 shots on goal prior to game.  LOL.  I think I would have done better if I had time to just practice .  I came out of goal a few times and cut off drives, I had several saves and two of the goals were re-shots off my blocks.  One I couldn't hold the ball in a catch, the other I made a block in a two on one and instead of instinctually dropping to cover the ball I had to think and he got a heel strike into the goal before I could get down.  I enjoyed playing, and I did as a kid but I didn't but the time into it as I did Baseball.  So rusty and wasn't great to begin with . :)

ODIN!

Well I woke this morning and felt like I had been run over by a large tracked vehicle.

My back was a little sore so when I went in the bathroom for my morning ablutions I saw a funny shadow, then another and another and another.  I turned and I have fist sized bruises all over my back, on my right deltoid and right rear thigh.  Yeah it was a clean game. :P

I am not going to the gym today, I hurt.  I really do.  I haven't felt like this since I did Medieval sword fighting and got tooled, or when I did full sparring in Tae Kwon Do.  I know it is punking out but man, I was really tired last night, went to bed at 1930, and slept through to my alarm at 0430 this morning.  I did my morning routine trying to loosen up, so I did do some work today, but I think I need to just ease up for the weekend.

Most of the bruises are not painful to the touch well the ones I can reach.  So not to bad.  But yeah I probably should have had more free throws lol.

I got a compliment today from one of the soldiers I work with.  He said that my spirit was courageous.  I asked what he meant and hea said, that I played well in both games but what he saw was I finished running up and down the court in basketball, and as soon as we finished shaking hands I came over and put on the Jersey for football and went right out.  He said No one would have done this.  I just said, I said I would be on the team and the team needed me , so I played.

But it feels nice to be recognized for hustle and doggedness.  Never give up, Never Surrender!

never-give-up-never-surrender.gif

As Always, thanks for being there guys.  I do appreciate all of your advice and kind words.  the fact that people actually come by and comment makes me glad to be here.

This is totally the opposite of punking out. This is smart and well deserved. Listen to your body - one missed workout is going to do more to help progress than pushing through and potentially injuring yourself. Take a walk or do some extra yoga if you absolutely feel you need to do something.

A little late on this one but: Yay for fitting into skinny pants!  I hope you have a good occasion to wear them to.

It's interesting reading about your varied activities. Way to go on trying so many different things.

How are the dance classes coming? You said you had your first one on Tuesday?

I hope you get recuperated quickly. One of my friends is an apothecary, and she makes a "bruise juice" that is amazing and it really does make them go away faster. I used to beg bottles from her. I googled around for you and it looks like there are several varieties from different sources and makers... I have no idea what hers would compare to, but if hers works, some of these others probably have a good chance at working, too? You may want to try one out and see how it does though. Or not. :)

I don't think it is punking out, but just plain common sense. Sounds more like you were in a wrestling match! The stretches should help your muscles feel better.

You do, do a lot. One said it, but many see it without saying it.

Well the dance class.

My partner, the lady I was talking to in Dubai that does semi-pro Salsa, and Tango up there, enters the competitions etc.  That really got me talking about Swing again, said she wanted to do it with me, she hasn't done it before and wants to fill her whole week with dance has the flu.  So she asked if I could move the first lesson to next Tuesday, and I did.  So I didn't start yet.  It was just as well.  I had extra for the game on Wednesday.

The bruises are going away, I have always recovered fro them quickly, but as I get older that is slowing down.  The pain was mostly gone by last night, however a couple of them look very pretty :)

I also was told yesterday that I need to go in to the office on Sunday for a mandatory security update on my company laptop, so I will not be working out on Sunday.  Oh well into every life a little rain must fall.

I was playing FUBAR with my workout partner last night at game night and he finally went to the doctor for his rib injury.  Yeah he fractured his rib with his own femur doing 240 kg leg presses.  I mean go as low as you can but come on man!  He is out completely for 4 weeks.  So I will be solo at the gym.  I am try to figure out what I am going to do.  I can do some exercise that no spot is needed like curls, military press etc.  But all of the BP is going to be an issue.  I am thinking about shifting the workout to use machines on those lifts and get in chest work, but go for moderate weight and higher reps instead of low rep high weight until he gets back.  Also with him coming back he will effectively have been off for 2 months.  I think we are going to have gains issues and have lots of weight swapping when he comes back.  As sad as it is to say we were even on the Bench press and leg press area, he was actually a bit ahead of me on Bench press.  I have him on Deadlift and curls, shoulders and calf exercises.  So I need to figure it out as I need to be doing it on Monday.

No real workout today I plan to be doing a lot of walking.  Tomorrow will be the same but I have a scheduled road rip planned.  I am going to go through Dubai, Sharjah and up to Rasal Al Kaima, back down the coast road of Fujairah, and then home.  Should be lots of great coast road to follow as wells some mountains.   If I see a good spot I may hope out and take a swim, the towel and sunscreen are coming with.

Anyway, I am headed to Dubai today to help a friend plan out a healthy week of food, make a shopping list, buy the food, and then prep it as well as make her a nice lunch.  She has been liking my pictures of dinner and says she wants to learn to do it and eat healthier.  Her complaint before was that healthy looked bad, and she knew it would be flavorless.  I started posting my pics to a group on WhatsApp and she decided maybe she was wrong. :)  So, my helping myself with pics and putting them up here has actually helped someone else try and be better.  Damn NF is awesome.

I am also working with another friend on the same group that wants to change her diet, but first I am helping her quit cigarettes.  She was smoking 10 a day, with occasional days of 15 if high stress and on Thursday nights when she went out she would drink and smoke a pack.  Well In the last week she has cut down to 1 per day, and last night she had 3 cigarettes.  She is a bit down on herself, but thanks to all of the things you on NF have told me, I am encouraging her with little victories and how great she is doing.  I mean lets be honest a 90% reduction in 1 week is pretty great.  I also gave her some advice on drinking to much, she wants to slow that down too, and gave her the old trick of have a drink, then order a tonic with lime in a rocks glass, or water with lime in same glass and then you friends think you are drinking and don't pressure you.

Anyway, I am glad I can help these people and I owe it to you guys here.  Your help and all of the things I see on these boards make me want to be better, and help others be better too.

Thank you.

ODIN!

   Well the weekend went well.

The food plan and shopping trip as well as the prep and lunch went very well with my friend.  She was happy with what we came up with and surprised at how few items we ended up having on her list other than spices ( more on this later).  She wanted things that were easy, tasty and fast to prepare as she works long days and often is not home until after 9 pm.  So I set her up with some easy baked chicken recipes, some minced beef ( ground for us civilized folk) and peppers, onions and celery.  It seems she was eating healthy but stopped after just a week because " It tasted like cardboard and was to much work"  I told her there is work involved but you can do a lot of it at once and then it makes the rest of the week a piece of cake.  I took up my chopper as well, one of those removable blade devices that lets you dive, slice and so forth.

Kinda like this one, but a bit nicer:

It also turns out why she thought the food was flavorless was she was using no spices at all, not even salt.  She somehow got it in her head that spices were bad.  So when I put the list of spices we would be picking up at the store she almost choked lol.  I told her we would also pick up food to make a healthy lunch, by healthy I mean Whole 30 cause that is what I am doing, so we had Pan Seared  Sea Brim fillet, steamed Asparagus, and riced potatoes with ghee, and garlic.  She said she was not fond of fish, but loved what I made.  Apparently she spices nothing.  I made a simple ghee garlic and salt sauce to cook the fish in and then sautéed some onion to put over the top.  Yeah she was surprised how easy it was to completely change her mind with something so simple.  So I have her set up with cooked Minced beef ( 1kg) in a bowl with a bit of salt and some garlic in it, 2kg of boneless skinless chicken breast seasoned with salt pepper and garlic in containers ready to be heated or eaten over salad greens.  A bunch , I'm not sure  how much other than a pot full, of boiled potatoes, and roasted sweet potatoes. We also have several quart sized Ziploc bags full of diced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and sliced squash in her fridge and freezer.  I had her buy several cans of diced tomatoes and tomato paste.  She commented that she was not having pasta, I chuckled.  I told her how you can use those things to make many dishes from Swiss steak, to chicken cacciatore  with the ingredients she had already prepped with adding n some spices some veggies and tomatoes.  I think she is seeing the light that it doesn't have to be hard.  It took us 2 hours to prep everything and she was a bit put of by the time, but I told her that it goes faster, as I had to show her what to do each time and we were setting it up for the first time.  I told her if you buy half as much as you did today every week, and prep it so you always have half or more you are golden.  I also had here buy 30 eggs.  I told her if she really has no time, or forgets to take something out eggs are the go to.  Just cook them up and throw in veggies and make an omelet, frittata, or just fried eggs and you have a fast easy low mess nutritious meal.   All in all I think she got it and we will see if she keeps it up.

I took off from her place to go to my buddies American Football game, I was booking it back from Dubai, got caught in a traffic jam due to accident, and was feeling bad I was going to be late when he texts me and says, "Yeah I'm dressing out but not playing.  I ran the Dubai Marathon this morning and I'm tired."  So I had the night free, and took the time to make food for my road trip on Saturday.

The road trip  was EPIC!  I mean nothing really exciting happened but I finally got all 7 Emirates in one trip as well as going to the highest point in UAE again.  I woke up at 6, and started getting ready.  I had everything packed and myself fed and watered by 0800.  I headed out.  I started in Abu Dhabi, where I live, and headed to Dubai via the coast road.  Tooled around Dubai, and went to Sharjah, not much in Sharjah , then Ajman, also little and not much to see, although in both I did see herds of wild camels and goats.  Next was Um Al Quwain and up to Ras Al Khamah up to the Oman border.  All along a beautiful coast road.  hen turned SE and headed through sand dunes and into the mountains of Fujairah, I have been here a lot.  I did however this time head North and to the border of Oman again and followed the coast road again, do through Fujairah proper and then into Abu Dhabi via Al Ain and up to the top of Jebel Hafeet.  From there I made it across to Dubai again and then headed home.  the round trip was 888.9 km (522.3 miles) it took 11:57 hours.  I stopped at a nice shaded spot overlooking a sea scape for lunch and did spend time at other turn outs and at the top of the mountain.  It was a great drive and I really needed it.  I am still a little hoarse this morning from all the singing I did.  I really need to stop putting off buying that Go Pro, but oh well.  I say that after all of these excursions.

Not the actual camels I saw but they looked a lot like these.

I didn't do any formal exercise on either day but just relaxed and went for walks.  Even on my road trip I spent an hour walking around the top of Jebel Hafeet, as well as at lunch walking around looking at rocks and stretching a bit.  Today is a no gym day as I have to go into the office after work and do a mandatory update to my company PC.  So I will try to get in a hike after I get back depending on how long the security update takes.

Thanks for visiting, and hope you all had or have a great weekend.
