Workshop Gonna Ranger: The Repair The Hype Mini-Challenge

Recommended Posts

To Catch you up to Speed:

The Grind (Two Challenges Ago)

The Hunt (last Challenge)

The Hype was thought to be gone, then it turns out it was stolen. Last challenge we got it back, but the thieves broke it. Now it's time to fix it. To do that we're going to split into four teams. Each team will have a task of the week, while the other three teams work on the other three tasks. The next week every team will rotate to a different task. By the end of the mini each team will have gone through each task. The teams will be ranked on how they compare with the other teams for that task, and at the end an overall champion will be announced.

To sign up, declare yourself here in this thread and sign up here in the spreadsheet. Teams will be assigned before week 1 begins. If you come in late, sign up anyway and be sure to make a post on this thread letting me know you have done so, we may be able to assign you to a team later. You don't have to be a Ranger to participate in this mini, it's open to anyone on the forums.

So what are your tasks? Read on.

Lumberjack Forest:

We need wood to fuel the fires of the workshop. If you are assigned here for the week, your task is woodchoppers.

You can do them unweighted, or you can do them with weights (you can use a dumbell, a kettlebell, or a sledgehammer, if it's heavy, it counts, just be aware of the safety issues with different objects). Log your reps and weight into the Lumberjack forest tab on the spreadsheet. For simplicity's sake, please stick with one weight throughout the week for this  (it's too complicated to make the spreadsheet work for more than one weight). Please use pounds when entering the weight of your implement.

Diggy Diggy Mines:

We need stone and ore to have the materials necessary to fix the hype. If you are assigned to the mines, your exercise for the week is the kettlebell swing. If you don't have a kettlebell, any weight will do. As with the woodchoppers, please use the same weight all week for the mini, it makes the spreadsheet easier. There is a column for reps and a column for weight in the spreadsheet.

Here's a link on the basic swing.

Transportation Team.

That wood, stone and ore need to get to the workshop. If you are on the transportation team your job is Rucking. Rucking is walking with a weighted backpack. If you don't have a backpack, you can still walk, just enter a weight of 1 in the weight column. Please keep the weight consistent. It's the total weight of the backpack that counts, stand on a scale with and without it to figure out how much your pack weighs.

Repair Station

Here you are in the workshop proper. Use the raw materials the other teams have brought and fix the hype. Your task is meditation and or yoga. Log your minutes of yoga and meditation for the week. You can do one, the other, or both.

Reseved for assignments

Week 1

All right Rangers, we've got the hype home and had a bit to rest. It's time to fix it now. I've divided you into teams, check the spreadsheet for your assignments.

Team Wolf, you're going to be in the mines this week. @elizevdmerwe you're going to be the team leader for week 1. Get your team up to the mountains and start mining that ore.

Team Bear, you're chopping wood. @EricMN you're team leader for week 1. Get your team to the forest and get us some fuel.

Team Fox, you're on transportation duty. @shaar you're team leader for week 1. Get the packs distributed to your team and start hauling.

Team Hawk, you're on repair duty. @TGP you're in team leader for week 2. Get to work fixing the hype.

I know the teams aren't equal in terms of people. Teams who are short get newcomers assigned to them first. I'll think up some sort of score modifier to balance the unequal team members.

The teams might shuffle for week 2 or they may stay the same. Team leaders may or may not get changed from week to week. Good luck in week 1.

For the Ranger Corps!

Week 2

Rotation time. We're going to keep the same team leaders for week 2. Your new assignments

Team Fox is going to the mines.

Team Hawk is going to the forest.

Team Wolf is on transportation duty.

Team Bear is on repair duty.

Remember, until 11:59 PM Saturday your time, you are on week 1 tasks. At 12:01 am Sunday morning your time, you start week 2. You can log week 1 until Tuesday, then I'm locking those parts of the spreadsheet down. Here's the spreadsheet link again.

Week 3

Rotation time. We're going to keep the same team leaders for week 2. Your new assignments

Team Fox is going to the Forest.

Team Hawk is going to the mines.

Team Wolf is on repair duty.

Team Bear is on transportation duty.

Remember, until 11:59 PM Saturday your time, you are on week 3 tasks. At 12:01 am Sunday morning your time, you start week 3. You can log week 2 until Tuesday, then I'm locking those parts of the spreadsheet down. Here's the spreadsheet link again.

Week 4

Final Rotation

Team Fox to the repair station.

Team Hawk  get your rucks, you're transporting.

Team Wolf sleep all night and work all day chopping trees.

Team Bear it's off to work you go in the mines.

Remember, until 11:59 PM Saturday your time, you are on week 3 tasks. At 12:01 am Sunday morning your time, you start week 4. You can log week 3 until Tuesday, then I'm locking those parts of the spreadsheet down. Here's the spreadsheet link again.

Question on the Yoga, does it have to be yoga or can it just be a stretching program? I  use Focused Flexibility from GMB. It has some yoga in it, and some other type stretches, it's  just a basic flexibility program.

Flexiblity work can count too, since GMB is basically a workshop for your joints.

I'm in!  Not going to do a challenge thread this time, but I want to help fix the hype!

I'll sign up on the spreadsheet later today.  Can't do Google docs from my work computer, and my phone has no internet access from my office (for now). :(

I'm in? This will be hard, but I need something to do and this sounds like fun. I might not do yoga yoga though because I have discovered it does to complete opposite than what it's supposed to. So if I can do a minimum of 15 min of stretching exercises I'll count it if that's okay (my basic stretching routine does incorporate some yoga moves). This is a daily thing right? Just checking.

Yes, stretching will count. The way it works is the week you are assigned to the workshop you count minutes of stretching/yoga and/or meditation for that week.

That is NOT where that broom goes.  I mean, it's nice that someone was sweeping up for a change, but honestly, it's ten more steps to put it away.

There are no words for how much I enjoy this song.  It is one of my not so secret guilty pleasures....only beaten by the sequel...the chorus brings me so much joy.

I'm in to repair the hype. :)
