Evicious: [Insert Cool Title Here]

Evicious

Recommended Posts

Carrying over my goals from the last challenge:

  • Work out 5 days a week (run / row)
  • Eat in accordance with my doctor's orders (as vegan as possible)

My running goal is to get into consistent (re: at least one week) 10:30 1 mile time. Once I hit that 5 days in a row, I will increase my distance from my current 1 1/2ish miles to 2 miles.

My food goal is to continue practicing Intermittent Fasting 5 days a week, and to continue experimenting with new and delicious meals.

This morning's run - I skipped my warm-up on the rower, and regretted it: my starting pace was definitely more sluggish.

Heck yes! And now we can be IF buddies too!

Yay! I still have days where I'm eyeballing my lunch SUPER hard in the mornings, so I'm happy to have (and offer!) all the encouragement available. ^_^

Spoiler

The flu can go fuck itself.

I won't bore anyone with my tale of woe. I was sick AF; now I'm back, and my only goal is to continue kicking ass.

well done!

Thank you. Word on the street is that Fitbits tend to report higher numbers than some of the more accurate tech, such as chest band: but I do try to make sure I'm pushing myself at least a little bit. :P

Following.  How are you doing the IF?  I’ve been curious about it, but there are so many variations.....

I'm doing 16/8 Mon-Fri (weekends I do whatever I feel like: sometimes that means eating breakfast, sometime it means my first meal is lunch). It's fairly easy for me, since I work 06:00-15:00. Meal prepping has gotten a lot easier (and cheaper!) as well, since I no longer have to prep two meals to take with me. I just stick with black coffee (decaf) or tea until noon, then eat like lunch and dinner as per usual (although I do eat slightly bigger portions to accommodate caloric requirements). I always take a snack with me (apple, or carrot or celery sticks), but I've found I only eat it about half the time.

Because I've been down for the count for almost two weeks, I expect my run time to have increased again. I'd say I'm totally fine with that... but I'd be lying. So if anyone wants to pump me up for the inevitable droop in spirit I know is coming tomorrow, feel free to do so. :P

LMAO I do both! And I'm looking forward to getting back into weightlifting in the (near) future, too. :P And speaking of doing both...

I don't know if I didn't warm-up for long enough before I ran, or if it was the cold, or if I tried to go to fast for my first time back out, or what... but today's run was the second time in my entire life that I felt physically sick to my stomach afterwards. I didn't even stretch when I got back to the house. I just collapsed on the couch and had to wait for the nausea to subside before I could get up again. :disillusionment:

Still happy I did it, though.

Tomorrow, I'll do a longer warm-up and try running a little slower. Hopefully that will see me back to my usual post-run glow.

Today's run and warm-up:

Spoiler

Capture.JPG Capture.JPG

I figured out why I felt sick after yesterday's run.

I was looking back at my pre-flu runs, and I noticed that all of them were 00:11:30ish min +.

Yesterday's run was 00:10:30ish min.

As impressed as I am with myself for that, I do NOT believe that one should feel ill after completing a workout. Tired, yes - but not sick.

So I dialed it back today. I was aiming for the low 12 min range, and I hit the 00:11:30ish mark instead.

Ok...?

When I first got back on NF, I said I would extend my run distance to 2 miles once I was consistently running the first mile under 11 min. I was sure I had lost progress being sick for as long as I was, but that doesn't appear to be the case...?

In light of this strange and unexpected situation, my goal for this week is to continue aiming for the 00:11:30ish timeframe for 1 mile. Next week, I will see if I can get into the 00:11:00ish timeframe or below. If I am consistently below 11 mins, then I will increase my mileage the following week.

You get up far too early in the morning :) Nice job getting back into the running though, you're kicking ass!

LOL That's what everybody says. :P But I love getting up early - it means I get lovely, peaceful runs with no barking dogs or facefulls of car exhaust; and when I go to the gym (which I really need to start doing again) it means I almost have the entire place to myself.

I'm looking at my 1 mile times, and they keep bouncing between 11's and 10's... I *really* want to move back into the 2 mile distance range... I dunno, what would you guys advise? Should I accept that my 1 mile time may take longer to achieve and move on to running 2 miles? Or should I wait until I'm consistently running 1 mile in 10 min?
