Proving beyond a doubt that I am both clumsy AND old, I fell getting out of the shower Thursday night.  Then, just to keep things interesting, when I got up, I lasted about 4 seconds and then fainted, hitting the ground a second time.

Went to the doctor on Friday.  I fell pretty hard (and based on the markings on my back, appear to have chattered/bounced my way down), but came out lucky.  First, I didn't hit my head.  That''s a darn miracle, right there.  Also lucky - no broken ribs, and no muscle sprain (the second was my big fear; torn muscle would have completely ended training for a while), but a severe muscle strain in my right lat.  The bruising is quite impressive.  The actual impact site isn't too bad, but the strain is....not pleasant.  I had spasms on Friday every time that I moved, but they have gradually gotten both less frequent and less severe.  Muscle relaxers are my very good friends right now. 

 

I'm not sure what this does to my challenge.  Obviously no training of any sort.  I think that I am switching to:

1.  Walk once every hour to keep the blood flowing

2.  continue to eat like I have sense

3.  Continue to focus on the positive.  This fall sucked, but it is temporary.  This.  Too.  Shall.  Pass.

Today's happy thought: I'm happy that I didn't hit my head.

That's terrible about your fall, but thank God nothing was torn. Hope this means you can get past this little setback soon.

Not much to update. 

Food has been sensible, although not tracked.

Weight has remained stable.

I have walked a lot (in small but frequent breaks at work). 

Back feels about 75% better. 

Oh yeah...the flu is going around at work.  I recognized the fever for what it was on Tuesday and managed to get on antivirals within 4 hours of taking my temp (101 f), so while getting the flu sucks, it's not nearly as bad as it could be...and WTH, I'm not lifting anyway, so let's get all this crap over at once.

Did bw versions of lifting yesterday.  Felt okay, but today told me that yesterday may have been too soon.  Will probably try again tomorrow.  Arm is much better, maybe 90%. 

 

Flu is gone (I may want to send the creator of tamiflu a fruit basket or something... antibiotics are not my friends, but apparently antivirals are!) Yay!!!!

 

My poor brother is in the hospital with complications from an appendectomy.  Poor guy - almost a week. 

 

Food was poor Sunday, but good every other day.  Weight is stable.  I didn't walk a lot today, will remedy that tomorrow.

Glad to hear that you're healing and can do bw lifting.

 

That is a great idea, btw. I should give that a try since I apparently have managed to injure everything inside and out, and body weight exercises is something I can do at home, at my own pace.

 

Word of advice: If you ever injure anything near or around your ribs, do not under any circumstances attempt a plank! And if you do, don't say I didn't warn you!

Did BW stuff Thursday and today.  Probably ready for bar next session.  yesssssss

 

Ate well this week.  Didn't weigh myself, but clothing indicates no change for good or ill. 

 

I walked a ton at work.  Also good. 

 

Brother is out of the hospital and recovering... which is excellent.  He fell sick while traveling for work so was in a hospital 2 hours away - that drive sucked a lot.  So I'm selfishly glad he's out in addition being pleased for him, lol.

 

Attitude has been mostly positive...
