This coming storm should mostly miss me. Might make for a missed day of running and/or some muddy trails, but otherwise should be ok. 39 minutes ago, Stribs said: Looks like you're making progress on all fronts! Keep it up!! You too! And thanks :-) ------- Last night was a super late night of work, and today was a pretty frantic day. Decided not to run this morning, but I'll be able to get in a pretty solid run tomorrow. Caught up a little more on the pushup goal (behind by 14 now). Gonna check 3 threads and then do a yoga video. And then watch some random telenovela for practice. The last one I flipped past had a lady saying she had no money to pay the doctor, but maybe she could pay him some other way... (yikes!). 6 Quote Xena, Level 14+ Valkyrie Ranger January 2017 December 2016 Oct/Nov 2016 Link to comment
Sloth the Enduring
I used to watch Univision with my BIL, he’d have to translate, but I really got sucked in to Maria de la Barrio. The telenovelas have the best plot devices. Morag
Good job on the marathon, Xena, sounds like you had a blast. And I totally get the feeling tight avoiding yoga/stretching. The telenovelas have the best plot devices. I got sucked into an "awesome" one. Man in a hospital bed with amnesia. Some woman trying to help him remember. She goes through the bad with his belongings and discovers a wedding ring with a date and some initials on it. [cut to commercial break] commercial for a "HotCami" some kind of camisole that makes you sweat so you lose more weight...and don't worry, they have some kind of t-shirt version for men ...during commercial I'm thinking, there's gonna be a plot twist at some point. I bet it's not really his ring. It seemed like those two kind of liked each other [back from commercial] she decides to do a little visualization to help him try to remember. They both close their eyes and she tells him to think about his wife. Imagine her hair, the feel of his hand on her skin, her kiss, her embrace....with their eyes still closed their hands slowly move toward one another and clasp for a few moments. Suddenly they both open their eyes and pull away. She mutters something about being sure he'll remember soon. They both look a little embarrassed and sad. The next several will be much better. So lots of running the next few days. Then there are going to be a couple more tight ones. Then I'll be traveling for a few more. That will be disruptive to routine but shouldn't be stressful, and things will be pretty normal after I get back. So yeah, not much running this week, but also not much sleeping. It's ok when this happens as long as it's occasional. 7 Quote Xena, Level 14+ Valkyrie Ranger January 2017 December 2016 Oct/Nov 2016 Link to comment

Xena
Challenge wrap-up Week 4 was ok, but not awesome. I did a short run on Monday. Didn't run again until Friday, but thoroughly enjoyed Friday! Did a great trail run with some exploration. Saturday went to an awesome yoga class. Sunday 14.5 miles of running, mostly on trail. Overall: Kind of a transitional challenge to get me through the marathon (which I survived). Loved exploring some of my local trails. Spent lots more time practicing Spanish than I wuold have otherwise. Found an awesome yoga teacher (finally!) and identified some good videos to do on my own. Didn't exactly level up my fitness, but spent my time and energy pretty productively. Progress on specific goals: 10 pushups every day (on average). Yes...I actually did this. It got a little ugly making up the deficit last weekend, but I did it. Breaking trail: The short version is “explore a new bit of trail every week.” Yes, definitely did this. Only got lost once or twice. And I love that I spent the last day of the challenge running 3 significant stretches of unfamiliar trail. This was fun. South of the border. Re-read 2 spanish novels, listen to 8 Spanish podcasts and watch 2 hours of Spanish language tv. This took more time than I thought it would, but I got it done. I was even able to send the novels to a fellow nerd! I finished the tv watching by watching some kind of trashy historical telenovela set in the Babylonian empire. It was pretty kooky. Monday boost: Do some kind of cross-training after my Monday 2-mile run. I found some good simple “yoga for runners” videos to do. This seems like a good addition to my Monday routine. Thanks for following! I'm gonna read through all y'all's threads and then set up my next challenge! 9 Quote Xena, Level 14+ Valkyrie Ranger January 2017 December 2016 Oct/Nov 2016 Link to comment
