I think I have that exact same scale in my dragoncave. Huh.

Obviously I now need a punching bag.

The Great Reading Thread of 2023

“I've always believed that failure is non-existent. What is failure? You go to the end of the season, then you lose the Super Bowl. Is that failing? To most people, maybe. But when you're picking apart why you failed, and now you're learning from that, then is that really failing? I don't think so." - Kobe Bryant, 1978-2020. Rest in peace, great warrior.

My favorite part is the yoga mat being held down by plates.

And the scale in front of the heavy bag. "You must be this heavy to beat on me."
It wouldn't stay put, kept rolling up. And I was bad and left the scale out, it usually sits next to the wall.

I miss my heavy bag! I sold it at a garage sale, dumbest anti-hoarding decision I ever made.

As long as it's lifting weights, I enjoy it.

About a year and half.

Bench, rack, Bowflex, Elliptical, Heavy Bag, curl bar, Exercise ball, road bike.

No more than one day off in a row works best, time is not an issue, as I work from home. If I need to constantly change weights, that adds to the time, and perceived hassle, and Procrastination starts tempting me. If I can keep the weight mostly the same, then time isn't a factor as the gym is at home and it's a form of meditation.

That's a nice set-up! I see what you mean about the screw on collars for the bar now, though - I'd never seen those before.

If you want simple, you could look into the novice linear progression programmes: Stronglifts, Starting Strength (I recommend substituting power cleans with rows if you don't have access to an oly coach for learning them), and Greyskull. Greyskull (http://www.powerliftingtowin.com/greyskull-lp/) might be the most well-suited for you since it only has two barbell movements per day, vs. three, so there would be less changing weights. You can also add some bodyweight movements and core work to all of them. Deadlifts in some form in particular would be good to add if you have the space for them - I think I remember reading that they help with forearm development due to the grip work...

Other things to look into if you want more accessory work would be New Rules of Lifting for Women, Girls Gone Strong programmes, and Marisa Inda's programmes in Fuerza (review here: http://healthy-musclebuilding.com/2017/10/10/my-review-of-fuerza-a-females-guide-to-strength-and-physique-by-marisa-inda-9/) with the caveat that I don't know much about the former two, so some research would be required to see if they are suitable for your needs :) (I'm also assuming you are female, though I'm not sure that's been explicitly stated!). I think there are fees for all of those programmes too (i.e., to purchase books), so it also depends on what you're willing to spend. If you're interested in one of the Fuerza programmes, let me know and I can share what movements are programmed so you can determine if you have the equipment for them, or if you can make appropriate substitutes.

I also know that Meg Squats is the new Bodybuilding.com spokeswoman, so there will probably be more powerlifting-focused programmes on their site in the near future...

Tl;dr: A linear progression would be simplest on paper, but there are also programmes out there that have more accessory movements, which might be easier for you so you don't have to change the weights on the barbell constantly!

Wasn't really going for too much of a bodybuilding aspect, just was using what I have access to. (Though I do like my muscles on my forearms being more defined...) Basically, I want to be strong enough, flexible enough, lean enough, and have enough endurance to do anything I might want to. I guess when you're always getting information from bodybuilding resources that's how things end up, lol. Any assistance is greatly appreciated~

Actually, I am interested in it, but feel I'm not good enough for it yet.. plus that requires being at the local Cross Fit place, and people I don't know...

After googling the website for the local place, it's as expensive as the most expensive gym in town. So I googled "Can you do CrossFit at home" and found that there is a blog entry on NF about CrossFit *goes back to read*

Will look into this more...

Let me clear some misconceptions.  No such thing as not good enough.  Every workout is scalable.  You can't do muscle ups? do chest to bar pull ups, you can't do C2B?  do reg pullups.  you can't do pullups?  do banded pullups.  Can't do banded pullups?  do ring rows.  It's like that for everything.  Your coach will help you determine what skill you can do, how to scale to skills you can do, and teach you how to do new skills.  Everyone has to start somewhere and your coach knows that.  don't let that

As far as the social aspect,  the 2 xfit boxes I belonged too were awesome.  The people were awesome and supportive.  I'm pretty introverted and struggle making friends IRL, but that changed once i started xfit.  I now get invited out to do things like wine tasting and concerts and stuff.

Now, I have to decline, but it feels good to be invited.

Let us know if you have any questions along the way! :)

Crossfit sounds like it could be a good option for you as well since you want to increaseendurance in addition to strength. And I think some/many boxes also have free gym time, which would give you access to less aggravating barbells :P.
