NightWatcher13
This challenge is mostly a continuation of the last challenge for me, since I came in late and the things I was working on are still in progress ^^; There are some modifications though. Main Quest - Grasping the sword (getting up and fighting back against my mental and physical issues) Sidequest 1 - Daily yoga - I have my yoga set for 11am right now, which means I need to be up a bit before that to eat something (before you ask - I work 3:30-midnight, hence the weirdness of my schedule. I'm trying to roll back my timing so I'm up earlier and in bed before 4am) and I want to roll this back slowly over this challenge to between 9:30 and 10am. Oh boy. Ultimately I'm hoping to get enough of my muscle tone and movement back to be able to confidently get back into martial arts, and starting parkour again this spring. Bonus points if I get 2 runs in in a week now that the second gym at work is up and running again. SQ1 Tracking - 1 point/session of yoga, aiming for 7 points/week 1 bonus/grace point for 2 runs Sidequest 2 - Food tracking - I'm on Whole30 until the 15th, after which I'm going to try to keep a close eye on my intake of convenience and junk food and make sure I'm cooking for several days at a time so I have cooked food available that doesn't involve a drive thru. SQ2 Tracking - 1 Point/1 day food tracked (LifeSum), aiming for 7 points/week. 1 point lost for each weekday trip through a drive through / fast food spot Sidequest 3 - Community building - both for my own accountability and to help others in this community, I want to make sure I'm getting out in there and encouraging others <3 so I want to make sure I get at least 10 comments per week on threads that are not my own. SQ3 Tracking - 1 point/comment on a separate thread - can't be 10 on the same couple of threads ^^; Aiming for 10/week Lifequest - Organization - since the Bujo, schedule, and my house organization have become entwined, this is just all getting lobbed together on my challenge. LQ Tracking - 5 points for getting one room done over the week - aiming for 5 points/week Point scale - 29 points - A+ yaaaaay! 25-28 points - A- - not terrible, but could be better 20-24 points - B - ok, we're going to work on this a bit >20 points - I need to take a look at what other factors are causing avoidance and stress, and get back on track. I'll be editing this sometime later to give everything a more measurable way to track progress, I have to go to work right now (Edited to add trackability) 4 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment
Wobbegong
How's that Whole30 going? I breezed through your last challenge and it looks like maybe you've tried it before? It seems like a great idea, although I know from a few cousins who've done it there tends to be a lot of trouble with the follow-up part where you slowly introduce foods back into your diet and see how they affect you. It's a great way to meet new people! Good luck with your challenge!! I'm following along and rooting for you, yoga-buddy! 1 Quote Link to comment

It seems like a great idea, although I know from a few cousins who've done it there tends to be a lot of trouble with the follow-up part where you slowly introduce foods back into your diet and see how they affect you. I've done it two times before; it's been a couple of years since the last time I did it though and my psyche was not happy about this time for the first week The re-introduction... it depends on a few factors, including why you're doing it in the first place. Some people do it to look for any allergen that might be causing them trouble and that type of re-introduction is super hard - you just slowly add back in an item at a time (cheese, rice, beans) and it takes forever. I won't be doing that type of testing this time around, but I won't be going back to 100% "normal" either - mostly because I went on the Whole30 to break the habits that were becoming normal and causing me to have health and money issues (fast food added up on my calories AND budget... and it tends to make me feel super guilty when it's not an occasional treat so it wasn't great for my mental health either) and I know the first thing I'm doing after getting my latte is grabbing some rice so I can make things like stir-fries ahead of time in packages, things that aren't on the Whole30 plan but are healthy, and have them convenient so I'm not as tempted by fast food or pre-packaged junk food. 2 hours ago, Wobbegong said: This is a fun goal! There's definitely a type of positive feedback loop that happens when you intentionally engage with a community that tends to reinforce things a lot <3 I used to be super active here a few years ago, and the community was super helpful - I just let thing IRL get in the way of me getting healthier for a while. I'm hoping that reaching out a bit more back into the community will help me keep on track, as well as encourage others. Yay yoga buddies!!! I'm loving the program I found so far, and I've definitely started to notice some small changes in things like my posture. 2 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment
NightWatcher13
Week 0 tracking so far (wednesday): SQ1 - I did yoga Monday and yesterday, I did miss Sunday, and didn't do it this morning due to an early doctor appointment (yay glaucoma screenings). However, I do plan to make today's up after work while also catching up on last week's Critical Role. So if I somehow manage to get 2 runs in this week, I actually can claim full points here. If not, I'm at least planning to take home 6 points. SQ 2 - So far I've tracked my food Monday, yesterday and today - all of which (at least so far) have been under calories, but not by a whole lot. SQ 3 - 2 points so far LQ - none yet 3 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment
NightWatcher13
Tracking for today (and a bit of yesterday)Did yoga after I got home last night, so yay I woke up at 10:30ish this morning with a cat in my face, wanting attention. So I did get up early-ish, though it took me until almost 2:30 to actually do my yoga. And I had... Help. So far so good on the food tracking today. This was my "project" yesterday for pre-made food: I got four of these plus 1 meal last night out of it I did get a couple more of my thread comments in last night (and it's awesome to poke through other people's threads and see how they're doing [emoji4] ) Sent via Tapatalk *Quick edit - I also think the room I'm going to try to do this week/weekend if I get the time is my bathroom; it's small and doable but still needs a bit of elbow grease 3 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment

Lol he's cute and he knows it I'll try to get a pic of the other one helping sometime, they both like to monitor me and test out my mat before I get to use it. Thanks, I've been meaning and meaning to start doing crockpot meals again but kept forgetting/getting sidetracked, so I want to make sure I'm getting some in so it becomes more routine Sent via Tapatalk 2 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment

I try to vary it so I don't get bored, but chicken or shrimp with zucchini, mushrooms and onion with a teriyaki type sauce (soy, honey and ginger) is one of my favorites. (Right now I can't do the soy or honey until the end of Whole30, this is just my favorite go-to). I typically put this mix in with about a cup or so of rice, but right now I've just been doubling up on the veggies 3 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment

NightWatcher13
Oh! I forgot to mention: This pose right here I know I'm sure I could have done it before, but right now it's probably entertaining the crap out of my cats - I keep wobbling. 5 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment
Wobbegong
Looks like a fun pose! I'll have to try it in the morning. What does it target? Balance/core? Arm strength? Well done going after it! 2 Quote Link to comment

Xena
I'm really impressed at the way you pulled through that rough first week of the Whole 30. The end is in sight! Your plans for easing back in with a latte and some rice sounds pretty reasonable! 3 Quote Xena, Level 14+ Valkyrie Ranger January 2017 December 2016 Oct/Nov 2016 Link to comment

Your plans for easing back in with a latte and some rice sounds pretty reasonable! Thanks I'm definitely looking forward to the latte, but Whole30 has gotten so much easier since week 1's rough patch. Check in for today :Got yoga in before going to my friend's birthday party (in place of our normal D&D, since people were missing anyway) I did sleep in until noonish, but I have an almost excuse... I was up late last night paintingI made myself go to bed after I got the base layer on the werewolf... Otherwise I would "just another layer" myself until the sun came up.I actually got my food tracking done today; I don't usually get it done on weekends. I did have to pack a lunch though, since I'm still on Whole30 and there's not a lot I could eat there. I did make brownies to take with me, but didn't have the overwhelming urge to shovel them into my mouth. They smelled good, and I'll probably make them again sometime after I'm back to normal-ish eating, but I didn't feel super deprived without eating them.I didn't get on here much today, and have to go to bed early since Sunday's my early day, but I do have free time tomorrow to stop in at a few more threads. I'd have to count to be sure, but I *think* I've been on 7 so far?I got the cleaning supplies for the restroom and got farther on that last night. Still have some deep cleaning to get tomorrow, but it's doable rather than overwhelmingSent via Tapatalk 5 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment

Today was one of those days I didn't feel food deprived at all... I had sashimi for "breakfast" after church, had some butternut squash soup for lunch, and steak with roasted sweet potatoes and broccoli for dinner. And there's another serving of that dinner packed for lunch later this week <3 I also still have 2 roast dinners and 1 lamb left - meaning I have enough to get me through packed lunches until Thursday!!!! Whaaaat? I did actually have 7 threads as of yesterday, and did get 3 more in today. Bathroom is now CLEAN!!!! Including little corners and nooks, like under the toilet. 4 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment
NightWatcher13
WEEK 0 REVIEW: SQ1 - yoga - I completely forgot that challenges track from Monday, not Sunday. So I actually got 7/7 yoga practices in! (no bonus runs though) I also got up before my 11am goal this week every day except for Saturday 7/7 points SQ2 - food tracking - 7/7 days tracked, and no points lost. I'm a bit surprised I got yesterday and today in, since I almost never remember to track on weekends. 7/7 points SQ3 - community building - I did make it to 10 separate threads. And you guys have some very interesting/intense stuff going on! 10/10 points LQ - cleaning - got my bathroom done. 5/5 points WEEK 0 POINTS: 29/29 Sweet! Now let's start the challenge 5 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment

NightWatcher13
Check in for yesterday : Yoga - check, around 11:30am. I also got up at 9 - my body's idea, not mine. Food tracking - check Community - I did get to 2 other threads, including the ranger mini-challenge thread that I somehow overlooked last week; whoops. I'm in team Fox, so my backpack and I need to hit the street a bit this week. Or just me if it's too rainy. Lifequest - my bedroom is the goal this week. I got started on it, but not super far. Check in (so far) for today - I'm going to have to do my yoga after work; I woke up at 10ish but wasn't feeling well (chest congestion, sore throat, bit of a cough) so I went back to bed for a couple of hours. I do feel marginally better, but I'm going to go kinda easy on the yoga when I get to it tonight. Everything else will have to get done either on break at work or after work today I was hoping to go out and ruck for about an hour today, since it had a nice sunny forecast, but that's definitely not happening today. I just really, REALLY hope it's not the flu 2 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment

NightWatcher13
Here you go! Yoga for sinusitis I hope you feel better soon, NightWatcher! Thanks much [emoji4] I'm still not 100% today, but a fair sight better than I felt yesterday. Bit more of a runny nose and cough, but the chest congestion and sore throat are mostly gone for now. I think I dodged the better part of a nasty bullet. Yoga's going to have to be a bit late again, I did sleep in a bit... but in fairness, what monster can disturb this face? (Answer - one that really, REALLY has to pee!) Also, I had a few things I needed/wanted to do that couldn't happen after work, like going for a walk for the mini-challenge so I could log a bit of mileage. (I got 3k in, which is about 1.8mi) Check in for yesterday - Did yoga after work, which included a lot of the poses suggested for the respiratory issues. Food was tracked I did pop in on a couple threads, but I think I'm going to try to schedule set times to do thread hopping & catch up so I have some structure to use rather than "I have 5 minutes here" when in fact I'm going to be on there for 20 minutes ^^; I'm terrible at concepts of time sometimes I didn't do much for the room yesterday though, apart from put away what I had out (I had about half of my D&D books out for some NPC building & planning) Edited to add pic and mileage 3 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment
NightWatcher13
Check in for wednesday: Yoga got done after work Food got tracked Check in for yesterday: cough got worse, yoga got put off :/ food did not get tracked :/ But hey - WHOLE 30 COMPLETED!!!!! Check in for today: Cough is worse still; not as bad now as it was this morning, but pretty gnarly. I'm hoping I'll be able to talk tomorrow without devolving into a hacking cough - I have overtime from 9am-1pm, then D&D at 6pm - and this is my session as DM, so if I can't talk it's going to be hard to game, but I REALLY don't want to cancel on my players 'cause I'm out of town when we'd have our next session, and I left them on a super nasty cliff hanger last game Yoga will need to get done tonight if the cough isn't too bad after work Food tracked so far - including my long-awaited latte (went to a local coffee shop and got a large cherry cordial... never has coffee tasted SOOOO good) I will try to get to some threads either tonight or tomorrow; I'm a bit behind on them at the moment. My poor bedroom has not been worked on since Monday really, though at least there's no laundry on the floor - but there's a ton of papers and stuff I want to work on organizing. I may wind up forfeiting this part of the challenge this week I've just been so tired this week with whatever's going on in my respiratory system 1 Quote Current Challenge: Developing Roots Link to comment
