Juni0r83
So, last challenge, I managed to get some successes, but I don't tend to think it's because of my challenge that I did those things. I'm mostly convinced that I was headed in those directions anyway, and my lack of updating kind of supports that theory. Maybe then I should just keep trying to do the same things, but maybe, update my thread more often? That's pretty much the challenge in a nutshell. Goal 1: Eat stuff that isn't takeaway. Fairly easy, I'm a reasonably tight budget these days, but I need to actually post anytime that I do eat takeaway. Goal 2: Train 4 times per week. My wife is back at it again, so this shouldn't be too difficult. Post a training log after each workout. Goal 3: Keep writing. Post a total words update at the end of each week. No theme, just simple goals that I'm hoping I can stick with. 6 Quote Dwarf Warrior I am today what I made myself yesterday, I will be tomorrow what I make of myself today. Juni0r83
Had takeaway for lunch yesterday, but it's unlikely to happen again for the rest of the week, so I'm not to bothered by it. Also, didn't go to the gym yesterday, ran out of time. I still plan on getting 4 sessions done this week, I'll just need to be a little more creative about how I manage that I think. Juni0r83
Managed to get to the gym Tuesday: Deadlift 3x5 140kg 1x8 140kg Squat 3x10 120kg (was supposed to be 130, but this much volume is scary). Then I got to the gym again Wednesday: Bench 3x5 97.5kg 1x8 97.5kg Seated Dumbbell press 3x10 15kg dumbbells I also had takeaway last night. The vegetables originally planned for last nights dinner were no longer edible. 2 Quote Dwarf Warrior I am today what I made myself yesterday, I will be tomorrow what I make of myself today. Juni0r83
Well, life went on, and I got myself back into the gym again today. But time was short because I lost half the day looking after the little one while my wife went to a study group. So I just did my main movement, and dropped the accessory in favor of making it to work for nightshift on time. Squats: 140kg 3 x 5 140kg 1 x 9 Next week we'll be doing our primary movement, an accessory movement, and some sort of conditioning work (mostly based on cross-fit met-cons because plagiarism is easier than originality). So first up is a 21-15-9 alternating dumbbell snatches and a 500m run. I figure this is as good a place as any to track my progress, so I'll post my time when I finally get there. 3 Quote Dwarf Warrior I am today what I made myself yesterday, I will be tomorrow what I make of myself today. Juni0r83
I've got a week of updates to offer, so, here goes. I lifted Monday: Deadlift 145kg 3 x 5 145kg 1 x 8 Squat 100kg 4 x 10 No conditioning work though... Basically our workout took too long, so we left it for Tuesday to pick up some conditioning work. Lifting Tuesday: Bench 102.5kg 3 x 5 102.5kg 1 x 10 Seated dumbell shoulder press 15kg dumbbells 4 x 10 - these could probably be heavier, but I'll give it one more week before upping the weight. Conditioning was meant to be an EMOM: 15 rounds of 10 wall balls. I got through 5 rounds. After that I couldn't breath and my legs had turned to concrete. They still haven't full recovered. Thursday I got back into the gym: Squat 145kg 3 x 5 145kg 1 x 10 Stiff legged deadlift 100kg 3 x 10 No conditioning work again, but that's okay, I'll go again at some conditioning work tonight. Additionally, the only takeaway I've had so far this week is last night (Thursday). And I'm okay with it. 3 Quote Dwarf Warrior I am today what I made myself yesterday, I will be tomorrow what I make of myself today. Juni0r83
Friday's lifting update (despite the fact that its now Sunday) OHP 52.5kg 3 x 5 52.5kg 1 x 8 This was harder than I suppose it should have been, but I haven't done OHP in quite a few weeks, so I'm hoping I'll adjust to the weight quickly enough to continue progressing. Dumbbell bench 25kg dumbbells 3 x 10 And I skipped the conditioning because I was living on about 3.5 hours sleep. My next week is going to be screwed up due to going away for the second half of the week. My plan is to hit the Monday and Tuesday workouts, and then just skip the rest of the week. I'm considering skipping the first half of the week after (recovering from my trip away) and hitting the workouts I missed from next week. I'm not sure though, will have to think about it. 3 Quote Dwarf Warrior I am today what I made myself yesterday, I will be tomorrow what I make of myself today. Juni0r83
Okay, to finish up. Goal 1. Don't eat takeaway. The number of takeaway meals is down, but it seems an ever present part of my diet. Trying calorie counting for the next challenge. Goal 2. I managed to keep this kind of up. I hit mainly 3 sessions per week, with a fourth I think twice during the challenge. Scaling back my goals for next challenge to try and improve adherence. Goal 3. This didn't really happen that much. I'm dropping it off the challenge goals for a while, but it will remain an ever present part of my personal goals long term I think. Onwards and upwards for the next one.
