W 3/7 - Th 3/8

1) Fitness

Get through week 8 of the Bigness Project by the end of the challenge (4 lift days/week)

I think I slept funny Tuesday night or something. My right trap/neck/shoulder area has been bothering me. I spent some time self massaging and broke up some of the crunchy bits last night and it is feeling better today. However, certain exercises were difficult: lateral raises and upright rows mostly.

 

Wednesday morning was glutes and delts (lots of hip thrusts. Lots). This morning upper body push/pull. Trying to squeeze it all in and start W9 on Saturday (7 days in a row) so I can have Sunday as a rest day and go see my dad.

 

2) Read

 Comic a day. Total 14

Read a book-book instead

 

3) Movement/Mobility

Nope.

 

4) Nutrition

Good on Tuesday. Yesterday I was putting in my time and someone asked me a question so I left at 6:08, so close, but not quite.

Friday morning hamstrings. Although the "hamstring focus" day has a serious quad burner in it. For 3 sets of 20. lolololol im ded.

Forgot about handstands last night so will do them after work today probably.

3) Movement/Mobility

I joined a FB group for stretching lead by camp NF wizard Jonathan Mead. I stretched using some of this guidance/advice last night. Holy crap. Very good stretching. It will definitely help a lot.

 

4) Nutrition

5) Work

☐☐☐ Leave work by 6pm. (6:20 on Mondays)

I intentionally stayed until 7 because I had more things to do. And a meeting towards the end of the day made me realize just how much work ahead of me I had. :(

More seriously though, this is called getting old. Sometimes you just wake up with weird pains/tightness that lingers all day, sometimes for multiple. I now have a morning routine when I sit up from bed and twist around, starting slow and getting faster and bigger motions as things loosen up, before I ever stand up.

The difference between how i felt at 30 to how I did at 20 was crazy. I'm told it only gets more dramatic.

Handstands Friday night. Good on pushups everyday.

Read Friday and Sunday, but not Saturday. Instead I binged watched 8 episodes of season 2 of Jessica Jones. Kind of counts, right?!

 

3) Movement/Mobility

 Stretch, foam roll, mobility routine, etc 3x/ week

Stretched on Friday.

 

4) Nutrition

I am definitely more broken now than at 20. But I also was a sedentary alcoholic at 20.... so you win some, you lose some.

3 week challenge wrap up

1) Fitness

Get through week 8 of the Bigness Project by the end of the challenge (4 lift days/week)

☑☑☑☑☑☑☑ Daily 22 pushups

 

I finished the program through week 8! I also did 5/6 handstand practices I wanted and did my pushups every day.

 

2) Read

 Comic a day. Total 16

16/21, but I think I may have not logged a day or two this past week, looking back at my notes. Either way it's still better than a few weeks ago.

 

3) Movement/Mobility

 Stretch, foam roll, mobility routine, etc 3x/ week

Managed 9/9 planned stretch sessions, and actually did some extra stretching! What what!

 

4) Nutrition

Didn't end up coming up with anything here. I'll come up with something for the next challenge to implement. :) 

 

5) Work

☐☐☐ Leave work by 6pm. (6:20 on Mondays)

11/15 here. Definitely scrapping/modifying this goal somehow. I need to not stay at work forever, but also set some sort of boundary. 6 pm is not that boundary.
