@Wolfen, wow, you are really on the ball this challenge, both with opening the trading post and your challenge thread. Good for you! =)

As for me, I will be joining you all soon enough. The past few days have been pretty rough, and the next couple of days are probably not going to be much better. I am exhausted on a number of levels. I have just not had a chance to game plan my next challenge, but I will be working on it soon. I give anyone reading this the right to hold me accountable. If you don't see a challenge thread by me by next Sunday night, feel free to call me out on it. No excuses.

Hi folks!

Ann of Vries signing in, a returning Adventurer (I've fallen off a few times, usually on matters of tracking--but I made it through a Level 1 Respawn Challenge so I'm ready to try again with the Guild).

I’m a hiker/rambler (urban and wild), traveler, fantasy, and RPG geek who moved to London 2 years ago from Seattle. This has been an excellent opportunity to explore and have new experiences, but in between I tend to become a hermit for weeks (*cough-or-months-cough*) at a time and leave the house as little as possible unless my husband drags me out on a new adventure (thank goodness for him), and I’m looking to change that. Especially now that I’m 33 weeks pregnant, and I know how easy it could be to lock myself up in my hobbit hole and just watch Netflix and eat donuts—this could spell doom for my adventuring life if I don’t stay proactive. I don’t want that; I've managed to stay fairly fit so far during the pregnancy (despite some periods of Netflix and donuts), but I need to keep those habits going into the home stretch.

If I disappear late into the challenge, it may be because someone decided to show up early and I got a little distracted. XD

Happy Challenge, everyone!

Anyone into cosplay? I want to make a simple Assassins Creed/Jedi costume. Suggestions for boots, long sleeve shirts, and hoods?

The closest I have ever come to cosplay is when I was in theater. And Halloween, of course. :P

Indeed. Although it will be the best adventure that you two will have for a while I bet :) Do you have a good support net around you and your husband if you need some help or just someone to watch the baby so you can have a nap or be a same adult for an hour or so at the beginning?

I remember a friend of mine calling me up when her daughter was under 3 months old just to have me come over and help around the house. Or just watch over her daughter so she could go to the store in bad weather when she didn't feel comfortable taking baby out in a bad storm. Mind you she was a single parent so that's a lot harder.

I hope you have a swift and uneventful delivery and a happy baby who sleeps through the night sooner than later. :D

One of the downsides to an international move is that the support network I had is 5,000 miles away. (His situation is more complicated, but it comes down to "people might come out of the woodwork now and again, but it's not something I'm planning around.") But I'm pretty used to being self-reliant and I'll cope; I have a supportive husband, and any help we get along the way will be a pleasant surprise and much appreciated :)

Guys... got a little problem. My gym... doesn't have a squat rack.

I know... sucks. But, now I want to learn something else. That's the beauty of challenges and obstacles. Next month, I will learn how to power clean. Why? So I can do front squats.

Is it that great?!

What is your squat currently at? You can squat with dumbbells at most facilities until at least 100 lbs.

Thing is that they have a Smith machine and I tried to do squats there but it feels weird and forces me out of form. So, I know is more than 100 lbs. Goblets squats is an alternative though.

Yeah, Smith machine's aren't great. There are a few specific exercises that are really cool / fun to do with a Smith machine, but squats are not one of them.

Yeah, I tried to do squats but when I go heavy, it feels really weird since I can't balance myself. I might practice other exercises on it though. But, for the moment, I'll do goblet squats to keep the legs doing something while training to power clean.

I always found holding dumbbells in my hands and resting them on my shoulders to do squats helped with balance issues when I can't find a barbell.

Maybe take another look around the gym, if they have a 3D Smith machine that is a decent substitute for a real power rack. You can move the bar more freely and are less likely to murder your back with forced improper form from a standard Smith machine.

Heavy dumbbell deadlifts at also good for legs if you want to try them :)

Hey there. I'm respawning in the middle of the challenge but figured I'd come hang out here until the next challenge anyway, while I get myself ready over in my battle log. My current adventure is teaching kindergarten in China but I'll be moving to Ecuador in August and I am SUPER excited. I've never been to South America before. I've never been at that altitude before. I've never taught 2nd/3rd grade before! So many firsts!

And I get to add "climb a volcano" or even "mountain bike down a volcano" to my epic quest list.

But yeah, for now I'm twiddling my chopsticks waiting for August.

Did someone say squats? I'm doing a 50 bodyweight squats per day challenge right now and this morning I got my students to do it with me. I haven't been in a gym in months (they closed it to remodel and I guess they just never reopened). But I'll get there. Part of me wants to cheat a little and say that I squat 99kg (since that's my body weight) but that doesn't really work that way, does it? Hmm, if you squat 200kg but then lose 20kg of body mass, and your muscles aren't getting any weaker, how do you count that?

From one respawner to another, welcome to the group! South America is definitely a place I want to visit eventually. (Yes, I know it's big and there's a lot of it. But there's something to be said about starting by just touching ground....)

Well, we'll have a spare room open to couch surfers for sure, so maybe you will get there eventually.
