LVC - Gets IT done

Recommended Posts

March 12 until April 15

The days are long but the years are short.

So let’s start with a new task today. So the last few weeks I’ve been preparing for my thesis. But I haven’t started writing yet. I read a lot of books about the topic and learned stuff about Syntax. It was a productive month, but I realized I’ve fallen back into an old habit. I need to start now before I try to be a perfectionist again. So this challenge will be about getting started.

Goal One: Get IT done!

Write down my tasks for the week.

If it can be done in less than five minutes, than just do it.

Clarify the tasks, set deadlines, set priorities and organize

Do it!

So every week I’ll write a to-do-List and try to get stuff done.

Goal Two: Exercise

Aiming for three workouts a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. I can try to get in a missed workout on Sunday, but I don’t want to make that a habit.

Bonus: Try out some clubs.

Goal Three: Study

We’ll stay at 20 Hours a week for now and I’ll aim for 100 hours in five weeks. At the end of the challenge I want to have written at least 10 pages. I know the beginning is always a little harder. So I’m not aiming for 20 pages yet.

Some old habits I had accomplished and how well I did last month:

- Self care once a day
I did manage my stress level and still got a lot of stuff done. Nice.
- 5 portions of freggies
- 3l of water
- count calories
-  no snacks… Only birthday cakes, if I get invited to any parties.
I think I ate quite well. But snacks were a problem. If I gain back weight, I’ll make that a goal again for sure. For now it seems to be ok.
- morning routine 3 times a week (5 tibetans, yoga, sometines also stationary bike for 20 minutes. It depends on when I get up and how much time I've left)
- visit at least two sport classes a week (Tai Chi, Yoga, Aikido, ...)
- go out and walk at least 5km a day on 6 days a week
Didn’t do much sports last challenge. I got in only 12 workouts during the last five week challenge. Here I want to improve a little.
- at least 20 hours a week; get 100 hours during the whole challenge.
This goal went quite well.
Bonus: To-Do-Lists at least one item a day
Bonus: meditation

Your challenge looks awesome. And your Times New Roman font puts me in the mode of grading student essays. :P Following.

Haha, thank you. That wasn't intentional. The forums weren't up and I wrote my challenge into word first. It seems to have copied the font, when I pasted it. Thanks for following.

Nice! I get the feeling this is a more proactive challenge than usual for something. Must be the To Do list.

All right! Let's get it, then.

I'll steal this one from @deftona before I start reflecting yesterday.

Quote

I am going to pick one good thing that happens every day. It can be something nice I did for someone else, something nice someone did for me, or something good that happened to me. There are positives every day and I am going to find them.

Yesterday I called all the schools and got really frustrated because of various reasons. The last person I reached was really nice. She could help me with my paper, but she invited me to visit her school and have a look. I've always been intrested into "Sonderpädagogik", so I would love to check them out. She wished me luck with my paper. I was glad to hear another nice voice after so many frustrating conversations.

So,

- I got some stuff done.

- studied for several hours after the phone calls.

- did my tibetans in the morning and went for a short walk in the evening.

Ooh, good practice. Things are rarely as good or as bad as we think they are, but we do tend to overemphasize the bad. So! Find what's good!

This week went really well. Today I visited one of the schools and found the first one to help me. I think, I'll take this weekend off continue playing Yakuza Kiwami. I'm glad I got in so much study time. Around easter we're having guests and I won't get that much done then.

Well, there is something to be said for front-loading your work to get most of it out of the way so you can have your time with guests and such. I'm glad it worked out!

I'm also glad to see you're taking time to relax. I know you work super-hard at this stuff, so taking some time for yourself to cool on down and relax is super important.

I love to do lists. They are amazingly helpful and fun to cross off.

Also so when they motivate you to get stuff done early it’s like relaxing is a double reward.

That's true. I played some games. Don't starve with friends and finished Yakuza Kiwami. At the end of the week my head seemed to be full. I'm just going to finish some mails today before I go to bed, so I can sleep a little longer. And also sometimes you want to get something out of the way before going to sleep.

@RisenPhoenix They're very helpful for structering your thoughts.

I'm looking forward to easter. I'm sure it will be fun to see some old friends again.

JAY! \o/ This week went quite well. I was super motivated. And I started a new PS3 game on Saturday. That was fun. So this week was mostly work and fun.

This week went less well. We had a lot of guests over. Studying wasn't planed this week, but I at least wanted to get in my workouts and today I should get some stuff done for tomorrow. And of course I have to do a lot of chores around the house, too.

This absolutely looks like it was the right call to make. On the whole, I'd say this is shaping up really, really well. The trick, then, is going to be hitting this next week hard to get back on track. I can see how it would be very tempting to just coast on how things are going, but remember: we're about building and maintaining habits around here, and right now you've got to get yours built back up.

You can do this. Go to work!

I found a beginner's course for Aikido in my town. 8 sessions for 45€. I wrote them a message to get more additional info. Than I would have Aikido on Monday and Friday. Monday would be the beginner's course and on Friday my regular class starts again next week.

But usually I'm meeting friends on Monday to watch anime. At least we're planning to do so. The last few meetings have been canceled last minute. That's why I considered doing something else with my Monday evening.

It's understandable to go looking for other things to do. You might as well get some use out of your time if your friends are going to flake out.

Still, it's not like either way is wasted time. I hope things go well!

Week 3 is done. I did take care of some organisational stuff and started planning for next challenge. Studying was a little harder. I wasn't really motivated. But I got it done anyway, so jay. This week I'm going back to university and my sport classes start again. Let's see how that goes.

NICE. This challenge looks like it's gone really strongly for you. But that's no reason to coast now in the home stretch. Finish it!

Yesterday I had my 5 seconds of courage. My sensei was late and we had some new intrested students here, so I decided to show them some basics in Tai Chi and explain what we're doing every week. And they really liked it. ;) In the end my teacher was late for one hour. So I was glad I stepped in. And that really was a convidence boost when the older students said, I handled that really well and also the newbies promised to come again.

Nice! All the same, don't read anything into it if they don't come back. It sounds like you did the best you could do.
