Quote

"We are a famously stealin' folk. Aren't we, lads? Whut's it we're famous for?"

    "Stealin'!" shouted the blue men.

    "And what else, lads?"

    "Fightin'!"

    "And what else?"

    "Drinkin'!"

    "And what else?"

There was a certain amount of thought about this, but they all reached the same conclusion.

    "Drinkin' and fightin'!"

"And there was summat else," muttered the twiddler. "Ach, yes. Tell the hag, lads!"

"Stealin' an' drinkin' an' fightin'!" shouted the blue men cheerfully.

"Tell the wee hag who we are, lads," said the helmet twiddler.

There was the scrape of many small swords being drawn and thrust into the air.

"Nac Mac Feegle! The Wee Free Men! Nae king! Nae quin! Nae Laird! Nae master! We willna be fooled again!"

Terry Pratchett, The Wee Free Men

"Crivens!" said Rob Anybody, scratching his head. "What de ye think headology is?"

"Ye must hae read that wrong, Rob," said Daft Wullie.

"Nae, Daft Wullie, I thought so, too, but there it is." Rob Anybody poked the word with his sword.

"It means when ye drink overmuch," said Big Yan. "Head as in head, ol as in all, an' logy as in logy."

"That dinna make nae sense," said Wee Dangerous Spike. "Ye canna drink overmuch. It canna be done."

"Aye, well," said Big Yan, "tis when ye drink the right amoont, then."

"Tisnae that," said William the Gonnagle. "Tis a hag word, it is. Tis a thing the hags do."

"Y'mean it's tae do wi' the hagglin'?" said Rob Anybody. "Why d'they need a special word for it, d'ye think?"

"Must be a special sort o' hagglin'," said William the Gonnagle.

I'm makin' a wee change to my goals this time aroond. I dinnae need tae steal any ships or coos, but I do need tae steal some time for sittin' quietly an' breakin' oot o' my thoughts. They say a Feegle can break in or oot o' anywhere, an' I need the practice, like.

Drinkin', cos I need tae drink more, an' lyin' doon, cos I need tae do more lyin' doon, an' fightin' cos I need tae do more fightin'. The hagglin' is carried over frae the last challenge.

I know enough to know your challenge is inspired by Discworld, but I don't know enough to make some clever reference or type with the cool dialect. But I am intrigued, so... following!

Aye, yer a proper gonnagle, Smaller Than Medium Sized Tank But Bigger Than Wee Tank Tank. Tis most proud we are to go fightin' wi' a battle poet such as ye. Week 0 Day 2

Aye:

  • Got ready for fightin' wi' some sprints (for the bus) an' some walkin' an' some farmers carries
  • Number o' pints drunk: 5-6/9
  • Stole a few minutes o' meditation
  • Stole some peace o' mind frae doin' all the things at home
  • Started lyin' doon at a reasonable time

Nay:

  • Not enough o' th' lyin' doon last night, y'ken
  • Lyin' doon more would hae helped my brain today

Hagglin':

  • Showed up an' did some things

Countin' th' sprints, cos it was a proper distance run, an' sprintin' is a good primal-approved weekly exercise. Countin' the farmers carries (er, my groceries), cos functional fitness, and also they were heavy.

All drinkin' is properly measured in pints. At least, all drinkin' o' the weak stuff.

I think I bought three whole coos. Coo meat was on sale, y'ken. But also I just wanted to eat a lot of coo.

Week 0 Day 3

Aye:

  • Ah did enough lyin' doon last night.
  • Number o' pints drunk: 1/9

Nay:

  • TBA

Hagglin':

  • TBA

I did enough lyin' doon that I got up early and did some wee chores. The dishes are washed, the fountain pens are refilled, and the bits o' coo that I cooked in the instant pot last night while I slept and let it keep warm are put awa'. (It's handy not to have to babysit your cooking sometimes. Ye can make yer dinner and let the next few days' dinner go overnight.) An' I took oot the trash early. Aye:

  • Ach, I was responsible on the lyin' doon last night, an' still woke up too early. But I canna call that something I did on purpose, so the lyin' doon goes in this column.
  • Pints drunk: 6/9
  • Did a wee bit o' hikin', which as y'ken, is aye underrated. This counts as conditionin' for the fightin'.

Nay:

  • I wasnae guid about the lyin' doon tonight. Crivens...

Hagglin':

  • NA

I did some wee chores before work. I put awa' the chili that I started when I went tae bed (pure laziness that I didnae do it last nicht, but the instant pot kept it aye hot fer me), programmed the wee robotic vacuum beastie to vacuum more, an' did the laundry.
