shoobie
For this first challenge, I won't pick a specific guild. I am still unsure of what my goals are other than losing weight and eating healthier. Do I want to get stronger? YES! Do I want to improve my endurance? HECK YEAH! Do I want to conquer my mind and find balance within me? OMG, YES PLEASE! But baby steps, Shoobie... baby steps! With that being said, for now, I'm proudly a REBEL! Here are my goals: Goal #1 Eat healthy. I get lazy a lot. When I get lazy I don't want to cook, so I order out. When I order out, it's always pizza or a HUGE burger with fries. That's obviously -not- healthy. I am not following a set diet, but I do need to control my carbs and fat intake. Counting calories sends my anxiety over the edge so I will be logging the quality of the food rather than the quantity. Goal #2 Drink water. I will drink pretty much anything... except water. I always have a glass of juice, iced tea or soda by me... or coffee.. tons of coffee... but never water. I want to get into the habit of drinking at least 2 L of water daily. I mean, how hard can it be? It is always hot here in Brazil... Goal #3 Complete my spreadsheet I need to get in the habit of updating my spreadsheet daily. Weight log once a day Body measurements once a week Food log and notes daily Goal #4 Read a novel and a Science book Over the years I haven't read as much as I used to or would like to. I have a HUGE line of books waiting to be read, calling my name. I have started reading the handmaid's tale by Margaret Atwood today and will start Physics of the future by Michio Kaku. I am a fast reader, so I believe that if I read a little bit every day I will be able to finish both books in 4 weeks (well, 5 really) You will notice there isn't an exercise goal. I will do that as I can, but because of health issues, I am not allowed to exercise at the present moment. Hopefully, that will change in a couple of weeks and for the next challenge, I'll be able to add an exercise goal! I am starting this tomorrow, however, my birthday is on Thursday and I am going out with family and friends to celebrate it on Friday. On Friday while out celebrating I won't be ona diet, the other goals I can still nail them tho ( I hope!) 9 Quote Intro: Intro thread Current challenge: Shoobie's baby steps to greatness Eventually, all the pieces fall into place. Tateman
I am totally in the "too lazy to cook" crowd a lot. One things that helps me is to do meal prep. It's a convenience factor. Like it is easy for me to go "Yeah, I want to eat something healthy, but I can have that lasagna done in 5 minutes" or whatever. I am lazy about meal prep too, but for now I will make things in batched. Like I made 7 chicken breast the other day, and I have salads that can be made quickly. It's boring, but when I want to eat something, it can be ready really fast. I have also done a cook day. Like Sunday I would make a spaghetti (with spaghetti squash or zoodles), soup or chili in the slow cooker, then some third meal option. Then put in all in one meal like containers. Then I just pop in in the microwave and go. 1 Quote Current Challenge#50: Tateman: Setting myself up to win in 2021 Tateland.com, Instagram, Fitbit Link to post

Even if it’s 50/50 you still have more water then usual! On a hot day my favorite is cranberry juice splashed in my ice cold water! I’ll do mango-peach juice for my kids (and myself!) Oh! To be able to look at what I have eaten and say: "wait, I ate carbs for lunch, maybe I should have greens for dinner" or "Yeah I'm really overdoing on bacon, maybe I should pick a leaner ptn". That sort of balance is what I want to have in my life again. I am hoping that getting in the habit of it I can actually change my eating habits for life. That's why I say I am not on a diet, my quest is simply to eat healthy. "Being on a diet" for me sounds like there's an end date... About 6 years ago a few online friends and I started an online radio station and both listeners and DJs started to derive Shoo into all different sorts of things: Shoobie, Shoobs, Shoobidoo, Scooby-Doo, you name it. I thought Shoobie was cute... so I started using it... @Wolfen , you'll never see me wearing socks on the beach!! Flip flops and a Brazilian bikini for sure tho! Love feeling the sand with my feet! I started the day well eating a tapioca. Not the pudding!!! I think it is a Brazilian thing... every time I tell ppl tapioca they think pudding! It's like a pancake... made with tapioca flour... gluten-free... tasteless... but not bad... ate it with a slice of cheese and ham... that gave it some taste at least!! I know it doesn't look appealing at all... but in all honesty, it ain't that bad 4 Quote Intro: Intro thread Current challenge: Shoobie's baby steps to greatness Eventually, all the pieces fall into place. Sylvaa
Yay! New Challenge! I'm also in the "can't count calories" party. It sends me down a dark path. I'm going to second (or third) batch cooking, especially if you are lazy (no judgement here though!). Most recipes make four servings, so you could cook every other day and get two dinners and two lunches out of every meal. Have you tried putting fresh fruit in your water? I drink a ton of water anyway, but this is what I do if I want to mix it up. Quote Sylvaa's BattleLog Sylvaa's Tracking Spreadsheet Link to post

I usually freeze combination of fruits in ice trays (so they don't go bad -- can you tell I like variety?) right now I have pineapple + strawberry and orange + kiwi in the freezer... I usually just suck on them when it is too hot instead of buying a chocolate popsicle LOL It's kinda what @Butternut suggested... I usually need sugar in those situations... but I'll give it a try for sure! On a cuter note... Drake Alexander
Hey! Following close too. Nice goals. I'm part of the lazy party too. I get bored easily and I'm used to wandering a lot. My motivation sometimes is deadlines. The rush of losing everything on the last second gives me superhuman powers. Also, I figured out that, if I wait an extra 2 seconds before eating, my will is stronger to take better decisions. Anyway, success in your challenge! 1 Quote Link to post

Butternut
That’s so cool! A radio station?!? Do you still do it? Chugging it helps. Maybe chug one in the morning and one at night? Theres an analogy I use with my kids. If I were cursed for the rest of my life to eat a frog everyday from now on, I would eat it first thing to get on with my day rather then cringing all day knowing I have to eat it. So treat things you really don’t want to do as the frog, just get it done and over with! This is why my son is 13 and still eats his veggies first on his plate. I am a humble procrastinator and this analogy gets a lot of my stuff done 2 Quote "One should eat to live, not live to eat." -Molaire- "People always forget their hangover" -My dear ol' dad "People are born to live, while some are born to evolve." I still do the radio thing... We've been going for 6 years and change now. It's a small station, but it is cool! Well let's go for day 1 update... I could have eaten a better dinner... but it was left over and I hate wasting food. I have about 200mL of water left, but I am confident I can drink that before bed! If my headache allows I'll read some before bed I think today was alright... I mean, I could have done better, way better.... but... hopefully tomorrow I'll make better choices. I'm giving myself a 6 out of 10 for today.
