This will be the first time I don't doll up my challenge (even though I reserve the right to go back and make things pretty). I'm taking a book from my fellow Texan, Tanktimus the Encourager and making things scarily simple.

Goal 1: Continue streak on Bible App. I'm up to 45 days now. Keep up with daily devotionals (DD) which includes a total of 13 now and stay #Savage

Possible Points: +3 WIS

1b18e385aba85c4c720a81e806e97c93.jpg

Goal 2: 3x a week of strength training. Stay #Savage

Possible Points: +3 STR, +2 DEX

snap-into-slim-jim.jpg

Goal 3: 2x a week walking/hiking/some sort of cardio. Get @PrincessMononoke involved to work those child bearing hips ;) . Get her to stay #Savage

Possible Points: +3 END

Goal 4: Nightly Bible reading to the boys. Minimum of 4x a week. Also, read to the baby each day for at least 10 min. Since Heather just hit 14 weeks today, the baby has developed its hearing. Time to bust out the awesome acapella! Stay #Savage

Possible Points: +3 CHA, +1 WIS

Savage Streaks: Zero Week, Day 3

  • Bible App: 46 day streak!
    • Caught up on 3 of the 13 and completed 4 total. My devotional about Elisha the Prophet has been one of my favorites. I have 2 I'm doing with Heather that I need to catch up on and 1 with my brother, Dusty. I'll clear those this afternoon.
  • The boys are with my mom this week so I haven't been able to read to them. I'll pick back up Saturday when they get back.
  • I talked to the baby for a little bit last night and sung some random song that I made up. I think I'm going to read some Harry Dresden to him/her when we get back to the house. Either that, or, I have a ton of Steven Furtick books right now. I'm still reading "Sun Stand Still". It's been really good. Here's what the back cover reads:
    • "This book is not a Snuggie. The words on these pages will not go down like Ambien. I'm not writing to calm or coddle you. With God's help, I intend to incite a riot in your mind. Trip your breakers and turn out the lights in your favorite hiding places of insecurity and fear. Then flip the switch back on so that God's truth can illuminate the divine destiny that may have been lying dormant inside you for years. In short, I'm out to activate your audacious faith. To inspire you to ask God for the impossible. And in the process, to reconnect you with your God-sized purpose and potential."
    • Steven is one of my role models, now. I listen to his sermons every day and when I don't listen, I watch them on YouTube. He's really helped me get in touch with my spiritual side.
  • Haven't worked out in over a week. I'll do something tonight, even if it's just some air squats and push-ups.

Speaking of tonight. Heather and I are heading up to the church at 630 to help with the teen group. I'm trying to get plugged in there and maybe even join them as a leader.

I just got awesome news from my best bud, Neiman. His dad is the campus pastor where we go to church and I was just informed this morning that he has thrown my name in the scholarship program to get guys at Gateway Dallas to the Men's Summit Conference on 04/19-04/20. I was going to volunteer and serve because I wasn't going to be able to afford a spot otherwise but now I'll be able to have a spot in the sanctuary!! Woot woot! A prayer has been answered! I'm still going to see about serving, though. Maybe I can work a shift and then still enjoy the conference. We'll see what they say :D.

This Saturday morning, Heather and I are going to an evangelistic training at Gateway's Southlake campus from 9-12, and I'm stoked about that!

I hope everyone is having an awesome day today!

That's super exciting!! Just for clarity - did he throw your name in the running to get a scholarship or does this mean you actually now can go for free?

It sounds like I'll get to go for free. I sent off my info to the lady that will be handling this so I'm just awaiting confirmation right now :). I was already getting to go for free because I had signed up as a volunteer but the only downside is I would have to sit in overflow. Which, in retrospect, isn't much of a downside to go for free. I'm still happy to serve so I'm hoping they let me do both.  I'm really just trying to get involved more with the church and find my purpose. This is where Rangerbrain actually works to my advantage because I can try out all sorts of things and see where God's calling me to be. Very exciting times ;)

So, for the last....month in a half or so, I've been consistently intermittent fasting till 11 and then eating 4 hard boiled eggs (and sometimes half an avocado). It's been working out really well for me not only eating wise, but budget wise as well. I can get a box of 24 hard boiled eggs from Costco for like $9 and then a pack of giant Haas avocados (which have 5-6 per pack) for $5. The eggs last me over 2 weeks which means I'm spending roughly $20 a month on breakfast, $5 a week. This has really helped our wallet and I get quality protein in each day. #winning

Hey Bker! Happy to see ya, brother!

Last night was an absolute blast. It was a unique Teen Night where they celebrated Shabbat and we all learned about the Jewish culture. Very informative. Plus, there was food after and we went over the Shabbat traditions which I thought was pretty cool. We met some cool new people too. Kyle and his wife, Courtney, the head youth leader at our camous, Zack, David, the head youth leader at the Frisco campus, Andrew and his wife (I don't remember her name) and Connor, a fellow ginger.

I kind of fangirled a little when I was told by Kyle that Zack used to be one of the youth leaders at Elevation Church, so he studied under Steven Furtick!

Image result for fangirl gif

I asked him about it when I officially met him and he mentioned that him and a lot of the youth leaders had talked about taking a trip up there to NC to watch Steven preach and Heather and I made sure they knew to include us, lol. During worship, I whispered to Heather and told her, "I'm gonna meet Steven one day and not just 'meet' him, but be introduced to him." I speak that into faith :D

That table we sat at during the Shabbat meal was definitely the table we were meant to sit at. Heather and I do really well with any type of special needs kids and one of them we could tell dealt with some form of Asperger's and another one dealt with some sort of physical limitation where she walked with a gait/limp. All the kids were super sweet. My friend Neiman deals with Asperger's as well. He's highly functional and a great guy. He's become one of best friends and I love the dude!

We got home late last night and ended up eating late too. I think I was done eating around 10:45? But Heather made her killer chicken tortilla soup. I cut up one of the giant Haas avocados, split it with Heather and then went to town! We watched some of Jessica Jones season 2 waiting on my sister to come back because she needed her breathing treatment machine. Apparently, she had been sitting around the camp fire where my mom and the boys are at Lake Texhoma and the smoke really started to bother her. It was close to midnight when she got there...and I very rarely stay up that late on a weeknight. My alarm was set for 5:30 this morning and I was NOT looking forward too it.

I missed out on talking with the baby and working out in some fashion yesterday, but those were the only "fails' of the day. My mom and the wolf pups are coming back a day early so our weekend plans have changed. I may not be going to the evangelism training Saturday morning now. We'll see.

We are excited about getting the boys back. We love our 1v1 time but we also miss the little boogers, too.

Savage Streaks:

  • Bible App & Devotionals
    • 9 devotionals done today and still counting. 47 day steak.
  • Workout 3x a week
    • None this week. Been busy.
  • Walking/Hiking/Cardio
    • Short walk to the store on Tuesday but nothing more since with Heather. 2x 15 min walk at work around the block of my building Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Bible Reading & Baby Talk
    • N/A, the boys aren't back yet. Missed yesterday's "baby talk" but that won't happen again. I remember how I felt when I realized the days I missed talking to Violet and I won't ruin these opportunities. I miss her a ton and think of her often :(

Today's been a solid day. I'm about to eat some leftover chicken tortilla soup and read some scripture. I'm in Matthew 9:27-31 completing today's study from my "His Word" book.

Absolutely, lol. Heather makes a reaaaalllllly good chicken tortilla soup. So good that when I had a huge bowl and some extras one time, I gave the rest to my coworker so it wouldn't go to waste and she enjoyed it as much (if not more) than me. She said she had a dream about it that same night and was guarding it from others trying to eat it. Hahaha!

I'm so glad you enjoyed that sermon, EG. Pastor Steven is a huge Godly influence in my life right now and I basically listen to his sermons daily. He brings a powerful message and I really enjoy the way he preaches. I'll post some more of those so you can watch them when you have time :)

Excellent! I'm glad you enjoyed it too, Matt :). I took a TON of sermon notes on that the first time I listened...actually, come to think of it, I haven't taken that many notes on ANY sermon I've watched yet lol. "Why am I Anxious" is one of my faves.

I have good and bad news. I'll start with the good:

  • Started the week off with a tasty little leg WOD. Warm-up was 5 min brisk walk on the dreadmill at 7 incline and 4 speed using nasal breathing only and then; 20# KB x 10 goblet squat with 10 swings, then 30# KB x 10 goblet squat with 10 swings, then 40# KB x 10 goblet squat with 10 swings. After the warm-up, I moved onto Zercher Squats. Started with the bar (45#) x 10, then 65# x 10, then 85# x 10, then 3 sets of 95# x 8. I foam rolled after and then went home to get ready for work.
    • I brought leftover cream of chicken casserole with steamed broccoli and made 2x almond butter and strawberry jam sandwiches with 2x almond scone (cookies). I. Am. Obsessed! I can't stop eating these scones
  • I read the action bible to the boys Friday and Saturday night but skipped last night because Race passed out and he would be mad if I read a story without him. I'll make sure to get in my 4x this week. We spent a lot of Sunday morning and afternoon watching sermons. We caught on the most recent series from Elevation Church called "Savage Jesus". I guess you know where the "savage" came from with my new challenge?? A guest speaker, Micahn Carter, did the 3rd sermon in the series called "Throw it Off". This was the first time I heard him speak and I liked him a lot. He was a lot like Pastor Steven but also different in his own right. I liked him so much that I subscribed to his churches YouTube Channel, Together Church.
  • Church Saturday night was good too. There was a good message and we got to talk with our new couple friend, Matt and Jade. It's nice connecting with other married couples. They don't have kids yet but they both want a lot. Matt said 5 and Jade said 7 lol. She said #lifegoals after she mentioned 7 kids lol. I know they are a little younger than us, maybe 27? Either way, it was fun connecting with them.
  • We went on a stroll Saturday morning and me, Heather and all the boys were dressed in our St. Paddy's day attire. I'll post a pic. The weather this weekend was just awesome.

Now, for the bad news.... (Spoiler: Sensitive Information Below)

If you follow me on FB you may have already heard this....but we lost the baby. We had a midwife appt on Thursday and went in to check on everything. Things looked good all the way up until we couldn't hear the heartbeat....and we couldn't get a sonogram appt scheduled until the following day. I'm not going to lie, I was scared and I know Heather was devastated. I remained faithful to God and knew that no matter what, Heather and I would be OK. The sonogram Friday morning confirmed the baby had passed about a week ago.... :(. It looked as if there was a growth that had developed on the back of the baby's neck/head area that was sustainable with life.

So, yeah...we're pretty crushed right now. I guess the baby never did develop enough to hear and that makes me sad. Racer is taking it pretty hard too. He wanted another baby just as bad as we did.

Now, we are praying that Heather can pass the baby naturally without having to go to the ER or have any outside help. This would be the best way for everyone and we continue to put out trust in God to provide that for us. An intervention would be on the same lines as getting an abortion and we definitely don't want Heather to have to go through a procedure like that.

Life goes on, though. We won't let this define us when we try again later on down the road. We will continue to praise God for the blessings we have in our lives and always put him first. This is a time where I need to be the best supporting husband I can be. Heather needs to be able to lean on me as she leans on God for her strength and resolve during this difficult time. I'll be switching up my last goal that involved the baby and just make sure that Heather has my full support as we both grieve this lost and move forward.

Hey Wolf, thoughts and prayers going out to you and Heather.  I am so glad you guys are where you are in your relationship that you can be there for her, because she definitely needs you now more than ever.

The pack is looking good in green, though :)
