Elastigirl
I went to a self defense class last night. It was taught by the instructor who teaches the Tae Kwon Do where my friend's kids attend. I was super nervous before hand. A room full of people I don't know and plus anything fitness in front of people makes me feel like I'm back at jr high when I was a klutzy nerd. But I went, and really enjoyed myself. It was a good class. Got a lot of chances to practice hitting and kicking, which was great. And yelling. We did it in circuits, where there was just a small group and you went around and did the hitting drills with the different instructors. Which meant you kept moving, and really everyone was too busy to notice if someone was doing something right or dorky. Plus the instructors were super nice. And it was a good workout. My hamstrings feel it today. Morning was slow, but my friends were late getting to my house, so I finished the kitchen by the time they arrived. We went out to Chick-Fil_A for lunch and I had fries. SO yummy. Weird fact about me, when I go out with my friends, I am more likely to get fries then when I am with hubby. My friends never do , they always get salad, and I just feel like someone needs to represent for team fries Planned it out though, so I will stay within my MFP budget for today. I'm actually pretty low carb today(undr 100 grams) After lunch I walked to the store and bought some chocolate bunnies and Easter plates, and then took the long walking route home 11 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment

Elastigirl
It seemed like I got going well today, set the timer for my computer time and everything, but I still had trouble finishing by 10:45. I;m trying to do Focused Flexibility and my workout. It seems like an hour and 15 minutes should be plenty. I'm going to time my FF tomorrow and see how long it takes. Then I can decide if I still want to do it in the morning, or try and do it in the evening. Struggled a bit with motivation today. Today was my day to do scrapbooking, which I enjoy, but I kept putting it off, dinking on the computer. Finally I got moving, and actually got a lot And then I did a quick Flylady 15 minute dusting of our bedroom. This evening hubby had a retirement party he went to, so I ate dinner, and then he came home about 7. I actually felt like I overate a bit. Mr I. has a 21 ish day streak of his walking goal, and is super motivated to keep going. He still needed 2,00 steps. It was twilight , so we went for a short walk around the block at his quick steps. Helped him get his walking goal, and me to not feel quite as overstuffed feeling. Introvert ponderings: I was talking to my friends yesterday and we were discussing various ways we all budget. One of my friends said she tries not to spend, and then just feels guilty when she does. Which made me think, how that used to be our method, and I hated it. I could never buy anything without feeling guilty about it. Now with a budget, I know what I can afford, I make decisions, and I either have the money or don't.It was after we started to budget that I decided I wanted to get in shape. I was approaching food the same way, I felt like I could never eat anything without feeling guilty, and I wanted to figure out a way I could eat like I budget. I think food control is harder than budgeting, but it does help to have a plan. Pondering this today made me remember a bit of my why, in that I want to learn to have self control with my eating. Which to me means, when I am eating I want to enjoy it without guilt, and then when I have enough, I want to stop. Whether my" budgeting" method is MFP or intuitive or Paleo isn't as important as just finding a plan that works for me . 9 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment

Elastigirl
This weekend was amazing! My friend (the same one I went to the self defense class with) invited me to her gym. They were having a ladies lifting session. It was me, my friend and her teen daughter. We were a little late, so we missed most of the how to talk. They had a lighter weight, it was a bar with a fixed weight. We went over to that , it was 20#, and the trainer showed me how to deadlift. And I did it. Practiced a bunch. The weight was easy for me, but I wanted to feel the movement. Then we tried the 30 #. It was super fun. Then I noticed that they had pull up bars. I had to climb up on a bench to reach it. I always wondered if I would be able to do a pull up in a gym.I'd wondered if maybe my doorway was easier and if I had to do it at a gym then I couldn't. But I was able to do it! And then this super strong gal who had been lifting weights said "wow you do that without bands!" And my friend boasted about how I'd taught myself. I suddenly felt strong, and a bit of that I'm just an awkward clutz nerd feeling sort of disappeared. I felt- almost- like maybe I belonged there. Then my friend's daughter went over and picked up a 60# bar, and of course I had to try, and I did that too. We had so much fun. Her daughter is great, she is super full of energy and she and I have lots of fun seeing what we can lift. Of course, the DOMS yesterday and today in my quads are very real. But I feel like I earned them . And now, in true Ranger style, I think one day I will have to add weight lifting to things I do too. Then yesterday was Easter. We went to a sunrise service at the park, then regular worship service at the church. Then we came home and had sandwiches and played games with my son. Then in the late afternoon, my in-laws joined us, and I fixed roasted lamb, roast potatoes, orange-honey carrots, asparagus, salad with candied pecans, and gluten free brownies for desert. I did however how to make two batches of potatoes. I put the lamb and the potatoes in the oven at 400 degrees, set the timer for 15 minutes, and then I was supposed to turn the oven down, only I was so into the game, I didn't hear the timer. It wasn't until I smelled the potatoes burning that I figured out my error. Thankfully, the lamb had a meat thermometer and I didn't overcook it, and I had some more potatoes, so I just made some more. If you can't tell from my forgetting the coffee before and this story, I'm way more into visiting than actually fixing the meal I wasn't worrying about calories, it was a feast day. However I did eat too many brownies. It's not that I felt guilty (or tried not to) because I gave myself permission. Just that I came back and had a third one, and then felt gassy and bloated. I wish I wouldn't do that. I seem to have little self control when it comes to sweets and that is frustrating. I don't like eating until I feel that way. But once I start eating sugar, I really have trouble putting the brakes on it. But I also don't do well with telling myself I can never have it either. Not really sure what the answer is. The extra brownies did go home with my son however, so that problem is no more. And today I plan on eating at a bit of deficit,to give my stomach a bit of a break. 7 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment
