starpuck
"Almost all of the common people and other folk that one might encounter along the Sword Coast or in the North have one thing in common: they live out their lives without ever traveling more than a few miles from where they were born. You aren't one of those folk. You are from a distant place, one so remote that few of the common folk in the North realize that it exists, and chances are good that even if some people you meet have heard of your homeland, they know merely the name and perhaps a few outrageous stories." Starpuck Prepares for Traveling and Does Good Things Well! And apparently creates a title that will make grammar hounds twitch and Zoolander proud, lol! Keeping it super simple this time around folks. I may be recovering from a mild concussion brought on by one heck of a collision in my last hockey game. The professionals that checked me out weren't overly concerned but said to err on the side of a positive diagnosis and give my brain some chill time. I'm also a few weeks away from my first vacation of the year and would like to get myself prepared for that. Since walking is still on the allowed chart, and since I need to avoid the more strenuous activities and sports for a few weeks, I will tailor this challenge to doing what I can with what I've got. That is going to look like this: Eating of the Foods Continue to read and follow Intuitive Eating. This is not an easily tracked goal, so for the sake of accountability, I am going with a sort of negative points system. I will tally up points whenever I eat past my hunger, by as many points as I feel I've passed a good spot on the hunger scale. Ate just a bit past full because of reasons, that's a point. Go absolutely ape poop on food, that's three points. Cook things at home, eat tasty stuff that does good things to the body. I've slacked on the cooking of things due to timing, schedules and a feeling of being burnt out. Now that I am having more 'down' time to recover, it allows me the chance to expand on this area of exploration. Walking the Path Walk. Outside, inside, whatever- but do it daily. This is going to be hard because if it's at all cold, or cloudy or meh, I tend to not want to walk. The weather SHOULD be starting to break here in Chicagoville, so the goal is to get 20 minutes of consecutive walking a day for right now. Adjust as able. Cultures of Other Lands Art. Keep up the art habit. I've been on a better upswing of art. So keep at it. Get at least four days in a week, sketching and tablet time. D&D stuff. Keep slowly organizing the D&D notes onto Google Docs. Engage in prep work and creative minded projects for it, but don't obsess. Journal in the BuJo I do better when I keep up with my Bujo. The key to this is having the next week set up by the Sat/Sun prior, and making sure I think to open it during the weekend. Odds and Ends Set new budget and freaking stick to it. Plan out the trip details for vacation. Make plans with besties. Clean Closet? *wince* Create weekly time sheet. That's it folks! Simple and stress free. Keeping the focus on doing what I can, and doing it well. 8 Quote Level 83 ~*~ Ranger Deviant Art Gallery || YouTube Channel Current Challenge "It is difficult. All things worth keeping are." starpuck
Hey all, thanks for tagging along! It was a super busy Thur-Sun for me. (D&D on Thurs as a game I play in, Level 11. Then I ran my game that I DM on Friday. Saturday was haircut and then 4 hours of Divinity II then Stranger Things II. Sunday was church, For the King and then Tomb of Annhiliation D&D game.) I'm still feeling a bit brain off which is super limiting of any sort of motivation and what not. Also, all that gaming over the weekend has left me inspired mostly to make D&D characters I can't play right now because my slots are full lol. Today's plan is keep up at work (Monday's are busy.) Try to catch up on here. Chiro after work and then laundry/food/art, chill. starpuck
Day 2. I think today has been the least 'foggy headed' day yet! I had brief moments but it really wasn't too bad. I also managed to get to the indoor track and walk for 30 minutes briskly. (2 miles covered.) I did lots of stretching and that felt good, then I headed back to work. This took some extra willpower today because our wonderful first day of Spring was ... 29 degrees, feels like 16 this morning. So even though I was at the indoor track, getting changed into workout clothes and making the trek there and back was still rather unfun. Daily Tally Read IA: -- -- Foods vs Hunger: X 2 Cook at home: -- -- (Postponing until Thu. I still have leftovers there to eat.) Walk: -- 30m Art: X X D&D stuff: X X BuJo: X X Got some really good sketching time in at work and am digging the pic so far. That said, I also feel so bad for having drawn it! I've been very inspired to draw pictures of my Tempest Cleric's childhood. Spoiler: It was not fun, nor kind. This is the character I am playing on Sunday night in the Tomb of Annihilation game. She has not confessed to her current traveling companions who her deity is; and now that she's in the thick of combat and disaster, she's relying on his granted powers a lot more often again. Something she does not like- yet cannot stop herself from doing. Anyway. A flashback to one of her early childhood, when she was forced to watch one of the more brutal rituals take place. Doing okay on things except the reading. But the good news is I bought a nice little bedside/desk lamp at Target today for $6 and I will get that all plugged in tonight and be ready for reading tomorrow. I am really craving reading... just ... not the Intuitive Eating book. So I am telling myself I cannot read my next Blade book until I finish both IA and Aftermath II which I am halfway through. But but but, with my new plan to see if reading at night helps me sleep less tossy-turny, having a few things on tap isn't too bad of a thing. Tonight is Divinity II with the boyz. 3 Quote Level 83 ~*~ Ranger Deviant Art Gallery || YouTube Channel Current Challenge "It is difficult. All things worth keeping are." obax
Glad to hear the noggin is on the mend! Looks like you're off to a fine start! With respect to bedtime reading, I find having a few options is not a bad thing. If I get bored of option 1 and there is no option 2, I'm more likely to watch tv or something that I shouldn't be doing. Having several options lets me cycle through them as my boredom dictates and keeps me from slipping back into bad habits. This is also why I like magazine as my bedtime reading, if the article is boring I can skip to the next, and mostly the articles don't last long enough for me to get bored of them anyway. 1 Quote Dare mighty things Current Challenge Link to comment

My head is on 3 days of feeling pretty good. No real noticeable fogginess and stomach is good and not too much pressure. I've been on a regime of Zyrtc + Flonase + Mucinex D for 4 days now, so I am really wondering if part of this was in fact sinus struggles in the deep sinus areas. My nose never got stuffed up and my throat wasn't sore- but the rest of the symptoms were sinus-curious. I did not 'walk walk' today because I had terrible shin splints and thought perhaps it would be best to not exasperate that. I did however manage to get 20 minutes of near-non stop walking while running errands at lunch so I will count that. (I mean, even Fitbit says I have 23 actives minutes, and Fitbit is real persnickety about what it allows to be 'active'.) I picked up the food to cook tonight; simple and quick. Chicken tenderloins with some red potatoes, onion and seasonings all skillet-ed up, with a last minute tumble with some added green beans thrown in. We've got D&D tonight so there won't be any IE reading, but I did do a ten minute rough sketch at work, then fussed with adding armor to the pose between other things. I need to find out from the player, what hair style this dude has- so for now he looks One Punch Man LOL. In general, I've not been super happy with my art lately- BUT, I have been happy with how often I am 'sketching' full blown poses and getting some serious practice in. With being knocked out of playoffs due to my noggin', I have a remarkably UN PLANNED weekend that I am super looking forward to. I mean we have loose plans, but no BIG plans. I have a final chiro to get my neck back into the right place, then I think it's going to be video games, cooking, tv shows all at our whim and leisure. I'd love to get some outdoor time in but.... 35 and rain/snow does not appeal to that plan at all. 2 Quote Level 83 ~*~ Ranger Deviant Art Gallery || YouTube Channel Current Challenge "It is difficult. starpuck
Oi, we have a week gone by already. Honestly guys, I feel like I phoned it in a bit. (Is that the right saying?) As per usual my week days weren't that bad, but things pittered out as I got to the weekend. By the time Sunday hit, I was acting/eating like a total d-bag. Anyway, let's get this recap done and focus on the new week. Total Tallies for Week 1 Read IA: -- -- Y -- -- Y -- 2 Days only. Needs improvement. Foods vs Hunger: X 2 X 2 1 2 4 (Oi!) 11 points over my hunger level. It was taste and boredom leading the charge. Not ideal. Cook at home: -- -- -- Y -- -- Y This went well! Cooked a yummy thing on Thursday, that I ate for lunch on Sunday. And did new crockpot thing on Sunday. Walk: -- | 30m | 40m | ~20m | 30m | -- | Lots of steps, nothing intention on Sunday. Guys, walking is boring. Especially in cold grey weather. Art: X X X X Four of four days. This went fine! But I think I'd like to add a weekend day so that my practice isn't on for 4, off for 3. D&D stuff: X X X - Totally okay here. Lots got worked on. BuJo: X X X X X - Checked out on the weekend. Focus needs to be had! I am still having a hard time finding focus. I think it may be that I just try to do too much, maybe? I dunno. Or I get easily distracted and can't focus on the one thing at a time. So this week I am going to attempt to do that. I might even break down my BuJo tracking to daily by the am/pm or maybe work/home. I also am going to start getting some light workouts back in. Because 2 weeks away from lifting, running and hockey has proven to me, that I Really Really like being active.... I must embrace the suck that will be the first week back to weights after 2 weeks off and just go slow and be ready for the Doms. 3 Quote Level 83 ~*~ Ranger Deviant Art Gallery || YouTube Channel Current Challenge "It is difficult. Siuken
Finding Focus can be difficult, I know I struggle all with it, especially with all the new and shiny, glittering, massive piles of gold and magical items.....what were we talking about? oh yes, focus. you do have 7 different goals there....But you are far better than I at keeping up with and knocking down these goals. So If anyone can do it, It's you. It is a new week. you got this! 1 Quote Lvl 1.
