So... since I have been going full tilt into olympic lifting this year, I figure I'm not really a Ranger at the moment :P

 

Like with my stint with the Druids, I'm going to focus my next challenges around strength training so I don't split my time around too many things (and not get anything done!)

 

 

No theme for this one, it's enough of a difference to be in the Warrior guild :) Sticking with my weekly point system.

 

My Quests:

  1. Follow my oly lifting program and lift 5x weekly +1pt per session, +2 bonus for getting all 5 done
  2. Meal planning and shopping using Eat This Much +3 for weekly meal plan, +2 per grocery shop (2x weekly)
  3. Get back into learning fiddle music
    • Pick three pieces to learn +3pts each
    • Practice once a week +4pts per practice
  4. Go for a bike ride or walk at least once a week +4pts weekly, +2pts bonus for additional walks/rides

 

Rewards:

64pts = violin stand

80pts = 1 month additional remote coaching in oly lifting

90pts = 15kg bumper plate (I only have one atm haha)

 

 

I might post a few videos up here of any cool lifts I manage during the challenge - I am still at the super beginner stage though!! I was getting nowhere teaching myself, so I have started paying an intestate coach to program for me and give me help. Four weeks in and I'm miles ahead of where I was before, it's going great :D

I like the point system! 

 

I have a secret deep desire to learn Oly lifts, but I'm in recovery from hand surgery right now and my coach (wisely) won't even teach me to power clean until I get my deadlift back up to where it was before - so I'm just gonna tag along and enjoy your Oly journey vicariously.

So day 1 went to a great start - had to skip my lifting session [emoji14]

Tonight was good though - i did a bit of max testing on Saturday and *just* failed a 50kg clean. Well tonight I was doing 15min of power clean singles and ended up doing one @50kg easy haha!!

Good motivation for working on my full clean technique...

This week has been a little crazy since my SO has been doing even longer shifts than me and nobody's home to do the housework :P

 

Time for a points update to keep me on track!

 

Food - has been going really well. It's been consuming time, but I've just told myself to keep going :) So far we haven't been resorting to takeaway or anything, and I spent yesterday doing this week's meal plan & shopping trip +7 points

Lifting - have done the full week so far, though I had to cut a couple sets out of my last session so I didn't go to bed too late! +3 points

Walks - did one on monday, took advantage of nice weather. But there won't be any time for it the rest of the week unfortunately +4 points

Violin - on sunday I picked a piece (off youtube for something different), but didn't get much practice time. I guess when you don't get a violin out for a while it decides to be difficult. The strings were loose, but the bridge came off when I tightened them. It's still in one piece though, will hopefully be fine from now on!! +7 points

 

Total: 14 + 7 + 12 + 7 = 40 points

I think the main thing I should remind myself to do is get the violin out again before sunday...everything else should just happen :)
