[NeverThatBored] Now Give Me That Fire

Lately, I've had energy?? For the longest time, I was tired and foggy daily. I've been the type of person who can easily take 3 naps a day. But lately, if I take a nap it's out of habit (or procrastination) rather than any actual need for a nap?? I have no idea what's going on, but I'm ON FIRE these days. So I'm going to run with that. 

 

Last challenge, I restarted aikido AND started doing crossfit. I also signed up for a Japanese class that starts in 2 weeks or so. ALL THE THINGS.

 

Regular fitness:

  • 7 mobility mornings/week (20 sessions over the challenge earns me some sort of mobility reward - a class, a tool, etc.)
  • 2 Crossfit sessions/week
  • 2 Aikido sessions/week
  • 1 Startbodyweight session/week
  • 1 smaller muscle session/week (little stuff for muscles in hips, feet, etc.) - this can be combined with the startbodyweight session or broken up throughout the week
  • 2-3 GST stretching sessions per week
  • Walk 16 miles/week (12 to pass, but 16 earns $10 towards hiking/backpacking gear)
  • Run weekly (shins allowing)

 

Mobility Supplementation:

  • Toe touch sequence daily
  • Shoulder stretching daily
  • Squat movement daily
  • Yoga weekly?
  • Soft tissue work as often as possible/needed

 

"Triathalon" Goals

  • GET MY FRIGGIN' BIKE TUNED UP AND RIDE IT ALREADY. SHEESH.
  • Go swimming 3 times

 

Other Goals:

  • Stand OR sit on the floor to work 3 hrs/workday
  • Do something weekly to connect with my father
  • Continue to check off tasks on the nutrition program I started last challenge
  • Put on clothes by 9AM on weekdays
  • Like 8

I forgot where I had read it, but it was YOUR thread from last time that inspired my mobility goal. I want to start sitting on the floor more too!

 

Is it terrible that my plan is to first read about how to best to this (while sitting curled on my couch or laying half propped up in bed). Gotta start somewhere, right?

*Thinks back* Yeah, it's been almost exactly 6 months since my Tough Mudder which was the last time I felt like I really had energy. It was right after that that I went into hibernation. I've dealt with SAD for the last few years but this year seemed worse than normal.

The weather prediction for this weekend changed for the better since last time I looked and it might actually be spring here for at least the next week!

Week 0 Monday/Tuesday 

 

Monday:

  • Crossfit! We did snatches (tee hee) and I mainly focused on learning the movement. 
  • Walked
  • Nutrition tasks done

Tuesday:

  • Went to aikido! Confession: I'm not sure how much I'm actually enjoying aikido right now. The class gets out late, I always feel tired when I'm there, and I'm not sure what I'm actually getting out of the practice. It's satisfying when I eventually learn a technique by the end of class, but that's about it right now. Hrm. 
  • Mobility morning + toe touching/shoulder/squat stretches throughout the day + some exercises for the feet & shoulders done in the afternoon
  • Dressed by 9 
  • Walked 
  • Nutrition tasks done
  • Not quite there on the work sit/standing
  • Talked to my dad on the phone and was friendly the whole time

I had the same though this week, I look at the list of things I'm doing and am like wow that's a lot! And then I actually plan them out and am like GIVE ME MOAR THINGSSSSZZZZZ

Yeah, you still have half an hour free on thursday afternoons, am I right? I'd suggest you take up on memorizing all Shakespeare works.

So, I got a call last Wednesday night (1 week ago) that my mom needed emergency surgery and was in the hospital and I should come home. I flew home to CA on Thursday morning. After a few days and 2 surgeries, she's recovering and can hopefully leave the hospital soon. I spent the night in the ICU with her on Friday night, and then my sister and I spent the next few days keeping her company and helping her be comfortable and asking her doctors 10 million questions while she started to recover. 

 

Needless to say, challenge stuff has been on hold for now. I don't know exactly how long I'm staying (until my mom comes home and is settled) but I'm guessing I'll be heading back to VA sometime early next week.
