Hello all!   Welcome to my NEIN Challenge!  Which, of course means no challenge.   And is a great reference to the new campaign for Critical Role, which I love.   Totes <3s.  Anyway.   It's zero week now, making next week Week 1, but I will be in sunny California starting on the 21st and for a whole week.   Those of you who know me, or are somehow my twin (Hi @karinajean!) will understand that starting a brand new challenge without the chance to focus on the new lovely goals you set up, makes for a MEEEEEHXPERIENCE!   So I am not challenging this time.     Just a sort of battle log-esque thing, in the forums for challenges, to remind me to not lose track completely.

 

This week, I will focus on getting some lifts and exercise in before I begin traveling.

I will eat healthfully, with the food I have here, so I do not spend money before the trip.  I will not eat snacks (salty or sweet) unless I am feeling a little hungry.   Food is for filling and tasting, not just for tasting because yum.

  • Breakfast at work will be the last couple eggs and the oatmeal I already bought weeks ago.  
  • Lunches at work will be Tuna Melts because I had English Muffins left over from last week's shopping.  
  • Snacks of apples and yogurts as per usual. 
  • Dinners at home Mon Wed and Fri.    Tuesday dinner is either those rice shrimp bowls or Chipotle (bowl, no rice) if our friend wants to go out before our trip.  Thursday is local taco place because it is SO much better than crappy Chipotle.
  • Snacks at gamer house will be a single healthful sweet + skim or almond milk.   A single serving of popcorn if I get real noshy.

 

 

I will aim to get 3 days of art on the tablet in before I go on my trip.  ☐ ☐ ☐

I will aim for 1-2 sketch days IF able to do so without incurring other stress for trip needs. ☐ ☐

Death Valley National Park for 3 days, then shifting south to Joshua Tree for 3 days, back up to Vegas to hit Red Rock Canyon or maybe kayak Lake Mead and then home!   If nice weather will not come to me, then by the Travelers Knickers, I will go to it!    Getting really excited too!   And as of right now, not anxious/nervous at all!

Actually, it's the burros I need to look out for apparently...    Part of the instructions for the airbnb I will be at:

Enter through the driveway to where you will see the glass greenhouse. Park on the right side of the greenhouse please.

Don't forget to secure the gate behind you so the burros don't get in and eat the trees (not kidding!). They are also very loud and rowdy.

 

Sun is out today - I mean, it's still sitting exactly at freezing point temperature wise, but the blue sky is so great.    Should be doing a run on my lunch break (indoor track) and then getting more of my lists tackled.

Nice start to your non challenge. I'm fine if I'm gone the last week of a challenge, but being gone the first week makes it hard to ever get in the groove. Your trip sounds like so much fun!

Tuesday wasn't the best of days.   I am in a mode of frustrated impatience with many things.   It probably runs in sync with how close my trip is and my excitement for getting a break from routine.     Food wasn't really tracked or watched yesterday, but it was one day and so long as I keep things in order today it's all good.    I also didn't get a run in yesterday - I felt more motivated to get my vacation shopping done.    I find it very hard to focus my mental energy on anything other than "omg omg vacation coming" right now- so I need to rely on the mantra of 'I am a person who does a thing'.

 These things did not get done.  

 

Work got nuts and I got panicked on getting my oysters together for the trip.  

I also had a piece of cheesecake that was at work and it made me so sick, which triggered eating more bad food.  Which sounds dumb, and yet I do it so often.

 

Also had a really bad time packing for the trip.   All of my summer clothes are tight.  Really tight. :(  I'm super disappointed by that- and short of buying new stuff out there, I'm pretty boned on just having to deal with it.   I really need to get myself in order when I get back... I just wish I knew what was causing this to be so damn hard these days.

 

I used art to relax.   Plus really relaxing music.   I inked a pic I was trying to put together of Kess (who is now wielding dual scimitars) looking cold and aloof.   Ugh.  I feel like I am in one of those 'everything sucks with my art' phases.   Then, out of nowhere, in a few weeks I'll manage one of my better ones again.  "Not linear, not linear'... right right.

In other news, my Penguins continue to reinforce my superstition that they only win when I don't watch.  Which is so unfair, lol.   Still.    I am happy for them thus far, but it is definitely not over yet.

This week has not gone to plan.    Before I berate myself for that...

 

What happened was that work proved to be the busiest, crazies it has been in months.     We all know that Puck usually gets a lot of 'side things' not related to work, done while working... that wasn't an option this week so everything started getting jammed up like ... well like this!

So I did my work.  I focused on that.  I skipped workouts because they would have only made me feel MORE behind and stressed about getting ready for the trip.    I'm about to have a week of beautiful sunshine, outdoor activity.    Taking it easy and choosing other things as the priority this week is not a problem.

 

That said... last night I had a very discouraging and upsetting realization.  I was packing for the trip, and I need shorts, tanks and tees...it's summer there!    Well, all my clothing from the last two years no longer fits.  It's way too small/tight.    I've been working to try and eliminate the negative self talk, and learn to accept my body as it is, but yesterday straight up deflated me.   This can't keep going on like this.   I need to get healthier.    I don't want to be obsessive about it.  I just want to find out what I need to do so that it works.  Slow is fine.  Snail's pace is fine.   But it has to be moving toward a path where my measurements aren't increasing every year.      So today at lunch I ran out to Target and tried to just grab a few staples to get me through the vacation and well... I pretty much looked in the mirror and hit a bad low spot.  That, "I hate everything I see" low spot.       It's probably a lot to do with bad lighting, and fitting room mirrors and poorly painted red stalls, but ... man.  It wasn't a good place for me today.

 

The work stress continued and I turned to old support systems.   Stupid food.    So, I did do one thing while at Target - I picked up a new notebook that I am going to use as my journey log.     I'm going to try and really write out what I am feeling, what I am doing, what is tripping me up, what is boosting me.   I'm going to work on de-stressing.  About EVERYTHING.   Because I think that has been a festering burr that is actually making everything else more difficult!  (Weight loss, energy, sleeping, etc.)

I have D&D tonight and I am super excited to hang with my friends and get some rp in.    One more day of work and then tomorrow is early bed and Saturday morning I head out on my trip.    Really want to focus on enjoying the break... getting some R&R, focusing on myself as part of this big beautiful world, and getting some spiritual quiet time in while I am out there.    The key to the trip is going to be:  relax and experience the moment rather than plotting the next one to come.

Dressing rooms can be such discourging places. Even when I'm in a good mind set about how I look, I still find them hard. I like the notebook idea. Clothes are a good way to see what your progress looks like, but keep in mind  you have beautifully muscly arms, and that might make you a larger size then previous years, but it is good progress.  I know everyone has their own journey, and it's important for you to get some weight off, but I look at you and see a gorgeous, very healthy fit gal

I am actually REALLY GLAD to hear that I'm not the only one who does this!! It happens to me every time - I eat something that makes me sick, and then I eat more stuff to try to settle my stomach back down, and also for comfort because I'm feeling sick and upset. Maybe that means it's ... normal-ish? Or at least we're weird together?

 

I hope you're having a simply wonderful time, enjoying lots of sun and outdoor activities after such a crummy winter. I love your notebook idea and I can't wait to hear what you've been thinking about when you get back. I'm proud of you!!!

You're not the only one. I can easily misinterpret stomach displeasure as hunger signals and send more down the gullet to try and shut it up.
