YUP. Only taking 5 online credits but I'm also working 2.5 jobs so it'll be fun!!! (That's what I keep telling myself anyway and if I say it enough it'll be true, right?)

YOU CAN WILL IT INTO TRUTH

I can tell you, as someone who dragged his feet at the beginning of grad school, that you'll probably be glad afterward that you kept pushing forward and got it done.

We're super proud of you, bud. Good luck with finals!

I am working at a Legal Services office for sure. I am also volunteering at a mediation office a few hours a week (the .5). And finally I need a paying job - I have an interview to be a clerk for a local judge and if I don't get that hopefully I'll get a coffee shop job or something.

It's going to be a fun summer but it's going to be crazy busy.

Yesterday was my LAST 1L CLASS. I STG I just started school last month.

This has been quite the ride. I am ending the year (pre-finals) riding a major high because I:

1) Won 2nd in my class for an oral advocacy competition;

2) Got into one of the only Trial Practicum certificate programs in the country; and

3) Am so, so excited to be on a path that I actually feel like I'm doing the right thing for me.

On the other hand I've:

1) Gained 20 pounds and

2) Really lost the gym habit.

While I love what I've accomplished - I need to be able to do balance my health better or I won't be able to do awesome stuff for, like, the next 80 years.

This week my goal is to go to the gym once, bring my dog on a walk everyday, and do a session of yoga.

You're doing so great!

It's going to be tough to keep a fitness regimen going while you're doing all this (I mean, duh, you just said that). I got really flabby and out of shape while I was in grad school. Go easy on yourself and just dip your toe back into the ... the gym. That didn't quite come out ... never mind.

I took a picture of these guys at Dragoncon a couple of years ago (obviously just for you, though I didn't know it at the time)

Thank you!

I remember wondering how people had a hard time getting to the gym while in grad school because I managed it easily with a full time job - and in school you have more "free time" (as in actual time where you aren't required to be somewhere). BOY DID I GET SCHOOLED. A lot of it is just needing to schedule in advance and make myself go even though I feel like I should be studying. Working out isn't just about keeping weight down - it's about keeping mentally healthy too and that's something I need to remember.

Those guys are awesome. That is a fantastic costume.

Week 1 Tracking:

Workouts:

Dog walking: 6/7

Yoga: 0/1

Gym: 0/1 (Won't get in this week.)

Meals Cooked:

3/3

Studying:

6/10

First exam went smashingly well. The next two are definitely the harder ones and won't go nearly as easily, but it was a good start.

Maybe remember: working out regularly is going to help burn off stress, improve your sleep, and (I find) helps keep a clear mind to support the study goal.

Totally! I think emphasizing the mental health aspects might help you get into the gym more easily.

Welp - I just signed up for 2 races in the next 2 months. I've always been goal driven and I'm thinking having a hard goal as opposed to a generic "stay healthy" is really going to keep me on track training wise.

Hello Fresh is awesome! I even converted my mother who was staunchly opposed to it because she thought it was insane. But their recipes are so delicious and fun and 100% stuff we'd never think of doing. Definitely a life/money/sanity saver when we are both crazy busy.

Just some 5ks. I loved my half marathon but it was hell on my body and I don't particularly want to do one again. Maybe one day...

Hello hello! Thank you!! I think I'll less rock star it and somehow stumble my way into success.... I'll take it with zero complaints though! ;)

nice nice. Yeah long distance running sometimes seems like... more trouble than it's worth, body-wise. 5k is a great distance.

If you can ignore the gendered terminology (a Victorian thing, it seems), this might be relevant to your interests.

Gosh I'm so impressed by you! :o You're frickin' amazing!

You're on a career path that's notoriously difficult for balancing life and health and work, but I'm positive you'll find a way to do it. :) Just keep experimenting and you'll find a way that works for you.

Hope you'll have fun at the races! :)
