Aw that tiny frog sure is cute.

It's tiny frog season here too, they only come out when it rains though and they're all slimy and gross and jumping everywhere and they scare me what if one jumps on me just the thought fills me with terror one time I went to open my front door and curled my hand around the handle and there was a FROG underneath and I squeezed it and screamed so loud the Earth's crust shattered THEY ARE TRAUMATIZING, THE FROGS

(sorry i needed to get that out your frog is cute though)

Also, it’s tiny frog season. I rescued this one from the parking lot before she fried.

We had a green one that size against our bathroom wall a couple weeks ago. Their cute.

Sorry to hear your knees and hips are giving you trouble.

This evening I’m going to a graduation/ birthday party. I was going to wear shorts, but it’s being thrown by a Mexican family and thinking about some advice I gave Elastigirl I’ll instead wear pants like an adult :nonchalance:

I went to a graduation party Saturday in yoga pants. I will never go back! Viva le Resistance!

When we were in Mexico, every time it rained (that is, the entire time almost all day every day) there were itty bitty frogs hopping about.  Some much much tinier than the one you took a picture of.  Like smaller than a small house fly small.  So very cute.

How did the weekend wrap up?

Also, I was in a PD yesterday about the site flocabulary (really great site) but one of their videos was a rap teaching kids the parts of a non fiction book...and the book was called "all about sloths." It made me think of you, ha.

Mrs. Sloth is threatening to make her stay in ballet because she looked so good up on stage.

Did you learn earn anything about Sloths?  I’ll have to check out flocabulary, my vocab game is weak.

I’m sorry the tiny frogs are picking on you like that. These guys just left the pond and are drunk on oxygen. Soon the ones who can’t get over it will be eaten by crows and snakes or dry up on a hot rock and all that will be left will be the quiet, cautious ones who don’t bother anyone.

Thanks. It’s my own fault, I know the cure (yoga) but it won’t be pleasant.

The great thing about going to a party in yoga pants is that they’re stretchy so you can eat all the things without having to unsnap.

That is really cool, I’d like to see that. I did my senior thesis on frogs.  I caught hundreds and hundreds of them one summer. They still haven’t lost their charm for me. My screen name was almost frogboy, but it was already taken.

I’ll put the weekend wrap up below the break.

6/23/18 Saturday

It was a family sort of day. I was able to go mountain biking and got 15 miles in (or more - gps error) before I thought better of loading my knee and went home.

6/24/18 Sunday

Another day full of family stuff. The highlight for the kids was going to one those giant playgrounds. I decided to take the day off of training. I meant to do yoga, but by the time we got the kids to bed I was exhausted.  I fell asleep on the floor next to Slothboy’s bed - a side effect of chronic insomnia is that every once in a while I hit a point where I have to lay down and sleep right then, wherever I am. In the middle of the night I woke up to, “Dad, I have to throw up.”  I rolled out of the way just in time to only get a bit of splashback and not a face full.

Today we brought the foster dog Lucy in to the vet.  We got terrible news. She was apparently hit by a car and her leg was never taken care of. Her femur is shattered and pretzeled and isn’t attached to the pelvis. She’s going to have to have it amputated. She must be in constant pain, but she is still a super sweet dog.  Dogs are pretty amazing that way.

Now that I’ve bummed you out...

Challenge wrap up.  My only goal, IIRC, was to listen to Total Control Racing before I rode my bike. I did that for a week or two and got distracted and started listening to synth pop. With the Pride week build up, that morphed into 90’s dance music.  That means I failed the easiest challenge I’ve ever had. I’ve been here 5 1/2 years and would probably be a level 7 if I was keeping track.

Anyway, if you’re looking for Sloth goodness this summer, I’ve retreated to my battlelog until the winds and the cold drive the sun away from us.

Battlelog: Sloth: The Man with the Hammer

As a bonus, here’s my favorite 90’s dance song.

I haven’t been able to glom on to any new pop culture since the turn of the century. I think my brain had a Y2K error. Your challenge looks like home to me.

In the early 90’s a guy I rode with showed me a video of Erasure, probably to see how my overly straight self would react to it.  Andy Bell was wearing red sequin booty shorts, an open jacket made of AstroTurf and Doc Martens. After I got over the WTF I was all, “This is the best song ever!” And by the end of the summer I had all their albums. They’re still one of my favorite bands.

IKR, she totally seems okay with everything and can play hard.  We’ve never had a dog go through this, but she’s resilient and I think she’ll bounce back pretty well.  Although the vet poked and prodded a little too much and she’s been a little howlly this afternoon.

Good thing you quick ranger reflexes. Not a fun way to wake up.

Hopefully Lucy will get into a loving family, maybe they can get her one of those wheeled carts.

Haha.

She has a good home lined up :)  who still seem committed to adopting her (although I wouldn’t blame them if they found another dog sooner).  I think she’ll get along just fine on three legs.

Oh my word! Poor baby :( Most dogs just give and give, no matter what life hands to them. She seems to be one of the good ones.

Wow, quick reflexes! Lucky! or not, because you probably had to clean it up, but it could have been worse.

Yip, I've seen some in rural areas and one or two farms, and of course on Youtube. Usually they use those little 'carts' when the dog has no use of both of it's hind legs. Give her some time and she'll race Sloth Boy and Sloth Girl all around the garden.

Love that song, b.t.w.

I think we’re similar in a lot of ways. You just need more wheels and Lycra in your life.

I'm completely honored, though dubious about the wheels.

I haven’t been sleeping because Ewok dog barks every time anything goes by the house (car, pedestrian, leaf blowing down the street). She does this all night long and it takes me forever to fall back asleep. Getting up and getting moving is extremely hard now. She also bites people’s toes when she is displeased. She has one last vet visit on Sunday and we can hand her off. I won’t miss this one.

If you can't hand her off, we'll have to take up a collection for some steel-toed boots (just to avoid the biting I mean).
