Hello friends. This challenge I am focussing on some goals which are a little more Druid than Ranger. Given that I have friends here and am used to the Ranger way, I hope that I am still welcome despite that… :P I am focusing on building my mental armor, backing myself and keeping myself safe.

 

Affirmations, to reinforce my brain, “I am a strong and resilient person. I am a good worker. Toxicity will not change who I am”. Freggies, medicine, and vitamins reinforce my body and will keep me strong and healthy. Yoga will keep me flexible as well as giving me time outside if the weather is nice. My habitat impacts my mental health directly, as such I will spend ten minutes a day following the UFYH suggestions, I will also water my plants every day, I need more green in my life. Weekly I will do my readings for my management class to ensure I maintain my distinction average. Twice within the challenge I will be paid, and I will continue to pay down our debts, if I can squeeze out some extra cash from can collection etc I will roll it through to extra debt reduction.

 

Summary of Goals:

Daily:

- Affirmation

- 5 a day freggies

-Meditation or yoga 5mins (outside if possible)

- UFYH 10mins

- Water the plants

- Medicine and vitamins

Weekly or one-offs:

- Pay down debt (2 paydays in challenge, bonus from cans/other cash influx)

- MGMT969 readings on Sunday

I like the no-nonsense aspect of it. It's true that doing a huge clean puts me into a mindset of 'nuuuuuuuuuuu' about cleaning, so I am trying to do it a little differently and see if little chipping away has a better final product than a sledge hammer (even though we love a good hammering in the Rangers ;))

Monday of zero week. Nailed it!

Affirmed. Meal prepped a butt load so there is no excuses to not freggies (pumpkin Thai curry soup, potato and leek with pea soup, frittata things, many oranges) read a bunch of stuff for homework (two hooooours!!!) still need to read a little more tomorrow before class... I meditated and watered my plants. I cleaned all the dishes from my meal prepping and did a ‘middles’ vacuum before people came over for DnD (I spent waaaay longer than 10mins clearing... but that was because the vacuum was making a funny smell so I pulled it all apart and scrubbed it out and put it all back together... smells much better now). I’ve taken my medication and multivitamins.

Ysy meal prep!


Really solved my ‘what will I have for dinner’ dilemma tonight- I could choose soup, soup or frittatas. Let me feel like a choice but took 5mins to make and was already paid for.

I spoke to my psych today and she thought they were a good idea. She also wanted me to schedule some fun... this is not the first psych who has told me that I need to schedule fun... interesting...

Tuesday, another good day today for goals. Work was work. Had my psych appointment and my class after work (had a minor debarked with my taxi- I booked it through the app and something went wrong and they ended up sending three taxis to pick me up, so the second two both called me while I was in the first taxi on my way to the appointment... I must say it was rather unsettling to have a call saying ‘your taxi has arrive but can’t find you’ when you are already in a taxi... I was glad that it was a marked taxi and not an Uber or that could have been actually frightening!) appointment went ok, psych wants me to continue tracking mood (7/10), and also to schedule some fun activities... we talked a bit about what I used to like when I was a kid and I will try and get outside to look at some bugs and flowers this week. Management class was fine. I put my foot down about not carrying some students who hadn’t bothered to do the readings and who were mucking around on Facebook instead of working.

I affirmed in the morning, I repeated it to my psych and I wrote it down a few times when I had finished the pop quiz ahead of time. I freggied- banana for brekkie, potato leek and pea soup for lunch plus an orange and a little snack bag of salt and vinegar beans (think wasabi peas but... beans) then for dinner the pumpkin soup and some toast. I have taken my meds and bits. I foam rolled instead of yoga but I’m counting it. I let myself gripe about how cold it was as I watered the plants but I didn’t let myself get out of watering the plants (and it wasn’t even that cold). I did a UFYH in the kitchen for ten.

I am going to go outside and take photos of bugs and flowers! When I was seven I wanted to be an entomologist... if there was ever any doubt in my parents mind that I was going to be a mega nerd (that they didn’t figure out from me speaking before walking and reading novels in year one) it was me learning the word and meaning of entomologist at seven...

I went and looked at some fizzies yesterday, but I decided not to because I hadn’t had my freggies for the day.

Given the recommendations of your therapist this might be appropriate:

Wednesday. Had my first meeting with my mentor today (I nominated to join a mentor ship run by the professional development team). I came prepared and brought a little desk plant to give to my mentor. I liked him well enough. I cried for a moment when talking about why I wanted a mentor, acknowledging that I’m struggling is really hard. I pulled myself together though and I don’t think I scared him off. We have set a plan to go over my performance planner together and my position description, as well as my resume. The mentor ship is a six month program, so I am keen to learn from his experience. Other than that I brought back to the office two trays of sammiches and a cheese plate (they were just going to throw it away!) because they had over catered. The staff were very appreciative. After work my trainer picked me up and we hit the gym. It was a combo strength and conditioning session- squats and then rower tabata and walking lunges. My leeeeegs. To finish off I did planks and at the end just lay on the ground catching my breath... it’s a warehouse gym and it’s winter, so I could see the steam coming off me. I’m choosing to think that is cool rather than disgusting haha.

Goals wise I got every thing done except the plants because it was dark and cold and I had wet hair (excuses excuses).

I did a guided meditation while laying on a heat pack because one side of my back-bottom (? What is that called? Before the butt starts, but not really the back... the bit where dimples would be drawn on a nude?) was really sore and a little swollen. I can’t think of anything I did except maybe sitting with my leg up on a different chair twisted something. Regardless I am proceeding with caution. I do not want to throw my back out.

Freggies I did well on despite a catered lunch. I ate a banana and an orange. Had one quarter of a veggie sandwich and some fruit off the cheese plate. Pumpkin soup for dinner.

Planning for an early night falling asleep to an audiobook ^_^

Thursday. 7/10 day. Double gym day. In bed by 8.30 and I’m freeeeeezing!!! Affirmed. Ate freggies. Cleaned for ten. Meditated for 10. Will take pills in a mo. Neglected my plants again :/

Friday TGIF. Mood wise 6/10. Work was work. In the evening Mr and I went and watched Solo... so many movies we are seeing this year! Because of the loyalty card I have we ended up getting tickets for $8 each (instead of $16) which was a nice little perk. No spoilers. I liked the music.

Freggies- I ate a verrrrrry ripe pear, an orange, potato leek and pea soup and a couple of strawberries, then I had a raw carrot for a snack in the movie... I hope I didn’t annoy anyone with my crunching...

UFYH’ed in the morning, a little folding, (putting away will be tomorrow’s problem).

Watered the plants before I left (guilty guilty groot).

Affirmed.

Took my meds/supplements.

About to pop on the meditation guide and fall asleep ^_^
