HAPPY ZERO WEEK! 

 

Once again I was considering not doing a challenge. I'm not 100% sure on why I've been meh on the challenge front, but I think it has something to do with being over/underwhelmed in that - treading water - kinda way. I appreciate those of you who have reached out to check on me, wondering why I'm not rocking zero week like we all know I love to do. ZERO WEEK!!!!!! ZEROOOOH WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK

 

But I digress. I really do have some things I need to do. I think I'm a tad overwhelmed with the tasks ahead of me, and lethargy and laziness have been settling on my shoulders. I seem to be on the same field trip to Six Flags as @Taddea Zhaan with the rollercoaster highs and lows with everything going on... One week I'm up with a ton of DO THE THINGS energy, the next I'm feeling desperate to recover. SO. I need to break things down a bit. I find that once things get going, the tasks aren't nearly as enormously insurmountable as they first seemed.

 

CLEAN THE FUCKING HOUSE

Not like, sweep or dust. CLEAN OUT THE FUCKING HOUSE AND GET READY/MOTIVATED TO MOVE. Here is the spoiler/painful version of everything that needs to get done that will absolutely take more than a month to do.

1: Paint upstairs hallway bathroom (I see this everyday)

2: Clean out shelves and cabinets in master bedroom bathroom (I see this everyday)

3: Organize & purge downstairs stock/mud room (I see this everyday)

4: Build shelves for trunk and clean up back door area (I see this everyday)

6: Organize & purge studio

8: Organize accessory curio (I see this everyday but kinda sort of not really)

 

 

MAAAAAAN seeing that all in one place! No wonder I'm overwhelmed. Getting this biz done means breaking it into small bites. This challenge I will create a list of small, bite size tasks that chip away at this megalith that's been weighing me down. I will attack with gusto, at least 2 items on that list every week. I like the idea of working on the list for a few minutes every morning as a way to seize control of the day. I will try this in the beginning and see how it is.

I've been needing some guidance for awhile, but balking on therapy. Likewise, I haven't done any academic work in my field since I finished ortho last fall. I think these worlds are colliding, (re: the blog I keep working on/balking on), but I need help. I've done a ton of therapy throughout my life - mostly optional, some mandated, and I trust and even sorta-kinda enjoy the process, but I juuuuust don't think it's what I need right now. All the IE -> Mindful eating -> anti dieting etc, has led me through a maze of different kinds of life coaches, and surprise surprise, I know a whole bunch of them that I've never really tapped in to in a professional way. I have one friend in particular that I ran into recently that I feel like I should get in touch with for a conversation about coaching. To... possibly become a coach in the future...? :P 

 

This feels like a similar confession from a few years ago when I announced here that I was considering becoming a personal trainer. Looking back on it, it seems so... odd, that I was so unsure. I love the work I do, and I love being with people. This very much feels like a professional extension of my personal interests and I would like to finally remove the word "lofty" from my daydreams. And honestly, I don't know if this is the right step or direction or what, but I think reaching out to a pro is a solid step forward. We shall see.)

 

 

TOUCH HANDS

In workout news, I did my thing until evil tooth came out, then I rested like a good girl. Then I got back to work and sort of was super blah and uninspired by it until I touched hands (kung fu stuff) with a willing coworker/lifter bro. After a short session I hit the weight room with great focus and energy and verve, all the things! It was a great workout and I really enjoyed it, and touching hands kicked it off. I'm going to strive to touch hands with someone once a week for this challenge. This may be a little challenging, but I think I can make it happen with at least coworkers.

 

ONE AND DONE

Contact the finance guy and the realtor I was recently referred to. This requires getting Mr Red involved. Involve Mr Red. Make him do whatever he has to do to get things started. Do it. This is so easy. Just. Fucking. Do. It.

Lastly, I've been having some body image pushback. One selfie set per week. Bonus points for vlogs. (Remember when I used to do vlogs???) You got it. - we're doing a selfie challenge! And by we I mean me. Unless you want to join me?  It's a great practice for anyone struggling with body image issues, truly, my first time was eye opening!

Thank you so much for the compliment!! That's so kind!! ^_^  One of my favorite things about this process is finding a joyful moment where I really... I dunno... enjoy myself LOL (That sounds questionable, but you know what I mean :lol: ) And after a period of being a bit hard on myself, it's nice to take ownership of the "good light" and have a little fun in the process :D

I feel like this is so common! I never really did either, It's a shame really, how much I shied away from the camera for so many years of my life, let alone using it purposefully to record my shape! But when I did finally start, it helped me see changes I couldn't see in the mirror, and over the years show me where I've been and all the things I've done and experienced. I feel like there were so many years where I was stuck thinking about some outcome, a moment in the future when I would have fulfilled my goals... instead of a series of right now, right now, right now, wait for it.... right now :D I'm glad I have more of those right nows, now :P

OMG so much -_- and it's sunny again today! You'll be disappointed in me tho... while I was writing up how to clean up the back door clutter, I moved my greenhouse of seedlings and realized I filled the wrong tray with water.... they've been dry this entire time and not I'm 5 days behind even more!!! T_T Buuuuut on the plus side I started writing/ doing how to clean up that corner! So that's good...

WOLF!!! <3!!!! How is the shoulder? I've been having people do these DB scap holds during alternating flat press, so instead of holding the DB at the top it's at the bottom while the other hand presses. I really like this as an active stabilization + anti rotation for core + one arm press :D I guess in my head I separate personal trainer from life coaching but there's been way too much of both going on at the same time to ignore the other side. I think I need some education on the language of that process, and probably to experience it for myself before going full hog - the biggest difference would probably be working for myself versus working for a club... in general I see a combination of holistic movement and training to support the empowerment and living our best lives workshopping, having them go hand in hand when appropriate. Martial arts when it's applicable, strength work or restorative, freeform dance etc, all mixed in with the life work...

I've been going with Kerrygold lately and just a bit of salt ;) Where has Irish butter been all my life???

Starting my list in the morning got me moving things around before I even poured coffee. I'll leave the notebook out to continue on with this practice. I also slept in a fair bit because my day starts later with clients... but I don't feel more rested than normal and half the morning is lost. I think I ought to set my alarm for weekdays even when I'm working later in the day...

LOL your confidence is astounding and greatly appreciated. I sent her a quick note this morning and.... well she got back to me immediately and I thought about having the conversation next week but instead I said fuck it. This afternoon. I'm excited! Making a list of conversation points now... (I should really include: how to daydrink with Raptron and survive the night as a goal. I'll have to implement that one arm/scap hold press into my routine! Shoulders are feeling pretty good these days. I haven't been rehabbing them as often as I should and I rarely go heavy on OH press - Maybe 15-17.5 DB's in each hand - but other than that I'm feeling pretty fantastic! :) 

 

You have a plethora of knowledge and I think you could easily combine life coaching + PT coaching rather smoothly! Maybe working for yourself is your ultimate endgame? Like, get an LLC-keep on your Vlogs and start your own multi-functional coaching company?? I definitely see you doing this sometime in the near future ;) 

 

I would pay for one of those workshops!

I do love da Kerrygold! Out of stick butter, it's my absolute favorite! We've been buying a big tub of ghee from costco over the last few months and love it! Most ghee is set in smaller jars and stuff for like $12-13 but this large tub is like $19 at Costco...gotta love that place!

Hahaha oh I totally was the same way the first time! And you can absolutely see the transformation over the month where I did it regularly. Everything was tight and nervous and miserable and hidden in spoilers and by the end you can totally see the good time I'm having plastered all over my face. I definitely recommend it, at least as an exercise or experiment in facing that fear.

(Maybe I'll do a glasses selfie one day... I even tried to get a pair this year to wear regularly but I'm still using contacts 90% of the time...)

Thank you so much!! That means a lot to hear <3 This seems like the end game, but def a few emotional dragons to wrangle on the way there. One of my Kung Fu brothers is running a model that I can see for myself for the near future - he's the lease holder on a space that he rents time out to other practitioners of complimentary disciplines, but that don't compete. I could see myself running a space that includes massage, yoga, Tai Chi etc. while running my own Kung Fu, PT, coaching etc... I also like the idea of vloging, somehow it feels less isolating than blogging, and I have to work with the body image demons regularly. I like it...

SO I sent off that note to Coach Lauree and we booked a talk this afternoon. The conversation was awesome, just how conversation with motivational speakers should go! I have a game plan that involves contacting Coach Katie next, as well as connecting with an artist friend to talk about opportunities for me to run a self defense empowerment workshop for a group she's involved with... or at least sit down and talk about what she thinks people would want.

 

There's an event this weekend, but i'm not sure if she'll be there, but looks like a really good space for what I want to do. I dunno, as soon as I looked into it (mid writing of this paragraph) I'm like - oh no! Too soon! Or maaaaybe, I should just go. Check out the place. Don't be a wimp. It's a community space that makes workshops and events available to all people despite financial ability in an area of need. I mean really. That's good stuff right there. Don't be a wuss RedStone. ARG. Let's see what your girl does!! TBC...

 I'm exercising, because I want to get my stamina and strength. I enjoy medieevil swordmanship,  Tai Chi, yoga, aikido and fire spinning. I'm also a roleplaying nerd and a book worm. Let's fight the procrastination dragon!

It would be WAY less isolating, like you said, and you wouldn't have to spend countless hours typing everything. I actually thought about doing my challenge updates in vlog fashion because then I can be more animated. I know you have it in you to be successful at this and you have my 100% support!
