LEVEL 1 - Basic Instincts

She rolled out of bed, head pounding, the light from the window giving her reason to flatten her ears against her scalp in irritation.  The day was young and there was much to do and she wanted nothing more than to curl up in a ball in the dark, tuck her tail and continue her rest. But this was not to be, and she pulled herself from the safe, security of the blankets and pulled herself to fill her palms with fresh water splashing it on her face and drinking a few laps. The reflecting pool showed the dark circles and the tired expression. 

Yes... it is time for this one to change.

Hello everyone - I'm a recent convert to "druid" class after a bit of a hiatus for a few years. I am a recent medical school graduate and a stress-monkey so I am trying to address both physical health and mental health in a lot of ways, and hope I can build a sustainable way of being for myself that is rather challenging in the world of a resident physician. I'm also an Elder Scrolls nut and DnD fan <3 

 

CHALLENGE

Diet (pick two)

  • Drink 1 bottle/glass of water in the AM and PM 
  • Eat one full, prepared and cooked meal with protein and vegetables per day

 

Fitness (pick one)

  • Complete the NF bodyweight workout at least 3x a week
  • Go to a yoga class x1 a week minimum

 

Level Up Your Life 

  • 5 minutes meditation daily
  • Go on a walk OUTSIDE 3x a week

 

 

CHECKLIST of thing for the upcoming month: 

Find yoga studio until moving ACHIEVED 

* PACK ALL THE THINGS 
* MOVING DAY 

* Find yoga studio in new town

* Diet plan with husband

OKAY I have been bad about not updating y'all buuuut here is what I have to report: 

 

Goal Meeting:

 

DIET: I've been drinking maybe 1 full glass of water when I am supposed to? It's silly this is so challenging for me, but I really just am not someone who stays well hydrated. Need to focus on this one! Diet has also been iffy but I have been eating a bit more veggies. 

 

FITNESS: I havent even done 1 NF workout... ack. Might need to re-adjust my own expectations. I have plans to attend yoga tomorrow though. 

 

MINDFULNESS:  Meditation: I've been using Insight Timer pretty consistently to aid in meditating. I find a lot of their guided meditations are really helpful and I especially recommend Sarah Blondin. Super nice and heart-warming and makes you examine yourself in some good and positive ways. I've even had my furry friend assist in my meditation

I use Insight Timer every day.  I only stray into their guided meditations when I fit in a second session in the same day, but if I do that sometime soon, I'll have to check out Sarah Blondin.

Sadly I actually was doing *better* about going to classes before the challenge started! 

I'm going to attend one tonight and one tomorrow to make up for not making it last week :(

Does this sound weird, but do you find when you keep a goal to yourself you tend to strive  but once you tell someone about the goal you falter more easily?

Hah! I was definitely experiencing this. 

 

 

In other news I DID make it to yoga today! And have been working on the last bits of packing for our move over the weekend.
