Darkfoxx 47: Keep On Keepin On

Last challenge saw me FINALLY return to the mat - albeit only a bit - and kind of sort of reign in my eating to something approximating normal. Plus, I shifted my priorities a tiny bit and found some sort of equilibrium - after a visa hop in India, that is. 

 

This challenge cycle, I'll be building on those small wins and my goals will be simple. 

 

1. Macros 

1286 - 1686 Calories

62g protein

Under 80g carbs

Under 100g fats

 

2. 2 - 3 yoga sessions a week 

Current schedule looks like: Monday night, maybe Tuesday, Wednesday night, Maybe Thursday, Maybe Friday

 

3. Focus on meaningful social interactions 

 

4. Support the DH - bonus: it looks like his exercise and healthy eating regimen has pulled him out of his doldrums a bit. 

 

And that's it, other than blog and video posts + steps + the other shit I need to be doing but really don't feel like focusing on at all this cycle. Whoo!

Did I tell y’all we almost ended up with another pup this weekend?

Saw a suuper cute batch of pups up for adoption on Facebook - all small breeds - loved the face and attitude of this one who turns out is a shaved Maltese. Temperament sounded perfect - shots, everything.

But then logic kicked in - Frills is still grappling with the icky poos, and DH is leaving for 10 days this week. I don’t want to introduce a new pup when Dad is out of the picture.

That, and we’d then have to eventually ship 2 out.

So, no pup - but it was good thinking about it.

Yesterday
Food was ok but didn’t track.
Didn’t yoga - supported a friend in need instead.

Today
Food has been good; half tracked.
Didn’t yoga - coffee Morning, supported the same friend, DH came home early after lifting heavy stuff in the 108 degree (F) heat instead of working out.

Probably won’t get my Wednesday yoga in - going Thursday (maybe), Friday (probably), and 1 day during the weekend (definitely).

so easy to collect pets

 

with four cats inside and another indoor/outdoor cat.  we have yet another cat that is slinking around looking for food and seeming lost and helpless.

 

sorry, but "no"....really we can't do it.  Harsh reality must rule the day.  one can only have SO many pets.

Today

Food was abysmal - Wednesday coffee group was a buffet breakfast - started out great with a plate of fruit & smoked fishes

And then we found the hot bar room.

Full of South Indian breakfast items made out of glutinous rice +- coconut.

And roasted mushrooms.

And a scoop of potatoes.

Oops.

Then dinner happened - finally went back to this Korean place we’d been trying to go to all weekend, and misunderstood the portion sizes of what I thought were appetizers - ended up ordering 2 pieces nigiri (unagi & salmon), jap chae + an entire platter of veggies.

Oops.

No yoga again tonight - DH leaves tomorrow and I’m too full to be upside down.

Up in the next few days:

Friends coming over for more consoling + some sort of additional drama + hair dyeing. Either yoga in the pm or Ramadan stuff.

Potentially final visa hop on Friday. Either yoga in the pm or Ramadan stuff.

Taking myself to the mall Saturday. Steps or yoga.

Yoga Sunday and maybe grocery shopping.

Waiting to see how this fades before doing my whole head in galaxy. Looks like purple & fuschia look the same on my hair & blue May fade super quick.

I’m in the airport waiting for my bounce flight to Kuwait.

Yoga was a no-go yesterday, but DH landed safely where he was going, and both girlfriends were consoled - with a bigass veggie salad and some wine. Dinner was the rest of the salad + leftover curried chicken with raita.

Must not have over eaten - woke up starving and have had a bowl of congee + fruit + 2 coffees in the lounge this morning after having a little panic in the Uber whether or not they’d be serving food in the airport during Ramadan.

Pupper is at daycare after doing her job and snuggling the girlfriend having an expat day.

Yoga has been booked for tomorrow before I head off to the mall to find a dress for iftar.

Family visit visa approved!

Yesterday:

Made it to yoga, though I think this needs to be the temperature I quit being stubborn and either pay for a taxi or wait for the free transportation in my neighborhood to be available:

20 minutes in this heat before yoga is no bueno.

Had a Mall day afterward - hit every damn clothing store in the joint unsuccessfully- was looking for a dress for the iftar I’m going to that wouldn’t necessitate modifications (I.e. covered shoulders and knees) and would still allow me to sit on the floor if it’s that sort of dinner we are doing to. I will probably end up just wearing the dress I got for my birthday and bringing a shawl to cover my lap if we sit on the floor - it’ll keep me from overeating, at least.

Also tried on one-piece swimsuits since there’s a notice in my building about modest dress during Ramadan at the pool in my building, though that is never actually defined. Super unsuccessful there, but at least I managed not to cry about it. Almost bought one where I still absolutely hated my hips and upper thighs, but thought it looked the best in the bunch of 10. Didn’t buy it, but may go back and do so if I don’t find better elsewhere. The back was confusing.

Ended up going over my 10,000 steps, and had grilled squid/fish/shrimp for dinner with sides of creamed spinach and sautéed veggies + 2 rolls, 2 dates, and 2 tiny juice glasses (iftar meals here all come with juice & dates upon seating to break the daily fast - restaurants open at 6).

One good/frustrating thing about Ramadan: coffee shops are closed, so o can’t just pop into Starbucks every time I even quarter want coffee or want a seat.

Which has, in turn, given me a chance to step back and examine *why* I need that shit anyways.

Well played, Ramadan, well played.

Today:

Off to a friends for brunch/lunch - she’s a drinker and is expecting a boozy day. I’m going to try and control my damn self so we don’t have a repeat of the last time DH was out of town and I decided to have a rager.

I don’t need to be sick for 3 days again - I’ve got to go get my medical exams done tomorrow!

Also need to get fake milk, coffee & filters from somewhere asap or my morning is going to be disappointing tomorrow.

Ooh. And TMI update: little one’s poo seems back to normal! Yaaaaaaaay! I can replace my gross rug with probable mold stains!

Today

Had a boozy brunch at a friends compound - ate aaaaaaaall the carbs and drank champagne slow enough that I never got even tipsy.

Go, me - I’m counting that as a win.

Came home and have snuggled the dog this evening in between her patrol rounds to grump at every corner of the house.

Also made chive pesto and mixed it with DH’s leftover rice and a little butter.

Have vegan cheddar, chive pesto, butter, miso, a cucumber, a quarter head red cabbage, chili pepper pesto, turkey hot dogs, parsley & thyme left in the fridge.

And like 1 day of coffee with zero fake milk.

I need to drag my happy ass to the grocery tomorrow after getting my medical and blood typing done (plus lunch with a girlfriend).

Somehow I’m fairly certain I’ll not be making it and I’ll be playing Chopped for dinner. [emoji38]

I will endeavor to not eat allthefood while out tomorrow - I’m going with one of my damn food trigger people who makes all fucks just fly out the window in favor of noms.

Monday

Got my medical exam done and my blood typing done - strangely, the test which she did in front of me says I’m O+, but my mother drilled it into my head that I was A+.

I don’t know what to make of that.

Had probably too much Chinese for lunch after.

Yoga in the pm but no real dinner.

Tuesday

Coffee Morning rolled into Bunless burger lunch.

No real dinner again; was still stuffed.

Today

Tried getting my fingerprints done; was told by the lady at the desk that I still wasn’t on my family visit visa - just an extended tourist visa - paid another 200qr to extend even further - and was told to go to the head office next week to pay 500qr to roll over to my family visit visa - which I have to turn in with a form typed in Arabic, and my supporting documents.

Which is what I think we did through the app and already paid for last week.

I am confused.

Then I come back, get some documents stamped, and get fingerprinted. 2 days later I get my Residence Permit.

Theoretically

Had a light breakfast at a friends, then went to that damn sushi buffet again for lunch.

Going to yoga tonight.

Puppers is back to not so great poo, and hubby is working my nerves from afar.

I am aggravated.

Also tried my fav skinny dress on - and now my ribs are 4 in too fat.

Super annoyed at myself for that one.

Buffet is not what I need in my life - this Sunday is the one iftar I’m going to; after that, my ass is back to something restrictive for a month to reset.

I also have some sort of bumpy something down my arms, chest and neck that kinda itches in some spots but not others - not sure what it is, someone mentioned that scabies exists 2 months ago, so my brain of course thinks that’s what it is, and I have no idea what doctor(s) I can go to or if it’s a doctor thing. Pre knowing scabies exists, I wouldn’t consider going to the doctor - I’d ride it out for a couple weeks - but I’m a damn ball of anxiety atm.

Stress can do funny things to the body, so if anything try some allergy stuff like benadryl if you know your body is ok with it.  You seem to be dealing with things and doing what you can to get everything moving along smoothly so just keep your chin up!

@TiffanyD: good idea. I have zero idea if Benadryl is a thing I can get here, but I know that works well on me.

I think the friend I’m visiting today at least has Claritin, which she offered me days ago.

Thursday

Girlfriend day - salmon tacos, too much wine & a moderate amount of drunk pizza.

Friday

Mall walk with unsuccessful shoe shopping, a moderate amount of off-track but still felt healthy food.

Today

Took pupper to the vet - found out she has roundworms but is otherwise still really healthy.

Still battling the bumpy rash, but it may be dissipating? And I’m like 90% sure it’s from my really nice bougie grownup perfume.

I’ve had a nap, my living room won’t get below 25C, and the wind is crazy today - but DH will finally be home in a few hours.

Woof. Glad Ramadan is almost over, and I limited myself to 1 iftar buffet - and boy, howdy, did I ever eat.

Back to the grind today.
