Wednesday

Coffee Day 2, and I managed to mostly behave at a buffet breakfast.

Breakfast: 3 Americanos with almond milk, 1 plate with roasted mushrooms, a slice of roasted tomato, a piece of beef bacon, a slice of turkey ham, a sweet potato patty and a soft boiled egg + 1 plate of mixed fruit - about 2 cups of huge chunks - pineapple, watermelon, honeydew, papaya & strawberry

Lunch: 1 cold turkey hot dog

Dinner: Japaneseish zoodles with chicken, soy sauce, miso & furikake

Really wanted a post-yoga, post-dinner, and/or pee-yoga snack. Settled for a bottle of water pre and a hot tea post.

Also did more research on hotels for Croatia, supported my Nerds, and spent time checking up on an IRL friend who is going through some rough shit.

Was fine - did zero things, ate fine since I didn’t leave the house.

Friday

Yoga in the am
Walked the mall in the afternoon - ate a big salad
Deadpool 2 and too much popcorn for dinner

Saw Jurassic Park
Slight mall walk
Took pupper for a fairly long walk after dark

It was! I liked it, but I’m hella biased and would love pretty much anything with a 🦕 🦖. DH said it was “meh” and was proud of himself for not falling asleep.

Blenders are definitely wonderful - this one isn’t bad. It’s not the Vitamix we had, but it is at least doing its job of making smoothies smooth enough to circumvent DH’s gag reflex, and included a recipe for cauli rice - so I should be able to do most food processory things with it as well.

Signed up for 2 (free) yoga classes on Thursday for Solstice Day/World Yoga Day because I’m bummed about missing my favorite event in Times Square this year - so dammit, I’m doubling down. Won’t be seeing my girlfriends that day like I usually do, but I’m doing this for myself.

This will also keep me from sitting on someone else’s couch and drinking wine or from going out somewhere my ass is not going to be able to keep my caloric composure.

The stuff we had at camp was incredibly questionable however.  I think they overcooked it. Or undercooked it.  Or doused it in kerosene before lighting it aflame in order to cook it.

Camp was my only expierience with the stuff. I'm glad to know it's not all like that thin sliced shoe leather.

Oh no, it’s pretty much just as bad here - this version was sliiiiiightly better and tasted less like chemicals.

Veal bacon, if I can get it and it’s more of the Brit-style than American-style, is actually pretty good.

Neither is pork, but hey ...

No smoothie - coffee

Breakfast with a friend - moar coffee x2 + avo toast with poached egg and salmon

Super simple lunch of zucchini & pepper with a little chicken

Made a bowl of bulgogi over sweet potato

My last building yoga until September (boo) - shoulders weren’t open enough for binds I should be able to do o and there was no way in hell I was attempting wheel

Happy International Yoga Day!

Coffee & smoothie

Walked to yoga

“Detox” yoga class that was fabulous - binds were a bit better; still not doing wheel, but crow was an almost.

No idea on today’s macros, because lunch was at the vegan place: double cashew cheese burger with caramelized onions, tomato relish & somehow mushroom on a gluten free bun + slaw

Whoo boy did that lunch contain a lot of wind

Dinner was another sweet potato bowl - this time with Vietnamese style broccolini & the last of the chicken

Bailed on yoga class #2 of the day - mostly since it was vinyasa led by a dude and I was scurred

Also: hot and didn’t want to walk, my shoulders felt luxuriously open, and aside from allthewind [emoji100] my body felt pleasant and to sound woof about it glowy from yoga class 1.

But mostly scurred because I’ve built up a whole thing in my mind re: vinyasa class and hard.

Also did a bunch of research for the nth time regarding fitness classes. Still hate everything offered - still never taking a Les Mills or Beachbody class, especially not for 50-120 riyals.

Sooooo ... while my now-regular yoga class is off for 2 months, I think I’ll be biting the bullet and shuttling off to the expensive yoga 3x a week. Or a combo of that yoga + maybe the other studio downtown if I’m out and about anyways.

I think for this summer I’ll go back to carrying a tote and I’ll start carrying a yoga outfit with me so there is absolutely zero damn excuse. I can get dropped off by Uber directly to yoga after coffee or what have you.

Also transcribing my Arabic notes into my Arabic notebook & doing the homework from the teachers’ book I purchased at last class. I think Monday is the last class till September.

Up today: mall walking with a girlfriend. Eating a salad for lunch, dammit. Maybe trying to surreptitiously buy the last component for her bday present if we run into a Woojoh (Middle Eastern Sephora) that sells Jeffree Star lipsticks.

Also going to talk about the 4th of July BBQ I’m throwing for our other girlfriends bday.

Friday

Gross breakfast smoothie

Walked the mall with a friend and bought alltheshit for ‘Murcia Day decorations

Ate broiled fish and eggplant (fried, no batter) salad

Had a coffee

Walked a second mall with the friend + DH

Had tuna tofu stew and a quarter of my rice at a Korean joint for dinner

Got my steps party

Saturday

Had Bunless Hawaiian burger with sweet potato fries and unsweet jack Palmer for breakfast/lunch

Went to yet another mall with DH so he could get new workout shorts - tried in vain to find a new workout top I liked. Also tried to find a ‘going out’ purse I liked - even at my fav expensive store because the whole joint is still having really good Eid sales - to no avail.

Came home and wrapped birthday presents, re-dyed my hair, and makeuped.

Went out to a South American joint for a friends birthday. Split with the DH: steak sushi roll, guacamole, beef cheeks in wine sauce with polenta, duck confit fried rice. Had a gin & tonic and a whiskey mule. Left not crazy full; most dishes were appetizer sized.

Had friends over for after dinner drinks and puppy snuggles. We think the hubby of the couple is Freya’s boyfriend gauged on the amount of excitement she shows him and the fact that she almost exclusively snuggles him while he is over.

Got my FitBit party.

Up today: lunch somewhere, grocery shopping & a horror movie out.

It's a special blessing to feel like a dog's favorite.

He’s quite thrilled :) less happy about the submissive peeing every time he comes to the house, but super into the snuggles.

Monday

Good - last Arabic class until September, but vague plans were made to get together and practice with classmates.

I’m pretty sure food was good.

Vinyasa class was fantastic.

Tuesday

Coffee group where I was behaved and ate chicken + egg + spinach breakfast and tea, then walked around the mall.

Bought a tunic shirt and a boho dress for vacation. Plus splurged on a going-out purse that matches my hair. And hung out with a new friend from the group.

There has also been quite the uptick in attendance - there were 15 Ladies this week, and at least 2 asking to join the Meetup group per week. Glad to see everyone is liking checking out a new mall every time.

Today has been pretty good - second coffee group and surprise dairy that wasn’t listed on the menu in my omelette - plus coffee with whipped cream because they had no soy and I rolled from bed to the shower to breakfast. Found Cool Whip so my ‘Murica cake is on!

Yoga tomorrow before joining girlfriends at the same mall from Tuesday for a walk around; will go grocery shopping for the bbq this weekend while there.

Put down a cleaning deposit for the bbq area this afternoon. Now I just need: plastic cups, 2 pitchers & the food. Wish we could get sparklers, but that’s definitely not happening here.

Sunday

Tried submitting RP paperwork; hit a snag that may not actually be a snag, but may just be one dude’s answer.

Had steak and sweet potato fries (+toast) for lunch.

Walked around a shitty and tiny mall in the middle of nowhere.

Watched IT and ate popcorn + the last of the peanut butter pie for dinner.

Thursday

 

Smoothie with too much damn fiber & coffee

Yoga that had me wiiiiped halfway through - maybe because of the heat? 

Grabbed some vegan crackers + 2 energy balls + some flavored water at the bougie vegan place

Caught Oceans 8 with girlfriends - zero popcorn for me

Had a coffee with soy that may have been bad(?) while out

Got a haircut from a home-based hairdresser for cheap 

Dinner was 2 ears of corn fried in a little butter + the last hot dog & chives

 

Friday

 

So far, I've packed - thinking of doing a vacation look book for those that are interested - got my luggage down to 6.2kg!

Had a bunch of mango + instant coffee for breakfast

Also filmed this week's update video

Going to go get my talons addressed - I've been taking glucosamine for the past month, and if nothing else - my nails are the strongest and longest they've ever been. 

Going to get more contacts tonight

Going out to eat with DH this evening as well 

Making something involving corn & chives for lunch - maybe egg? Probably hash - should probably eat before going to get nails done. 

Also putting up my next challenge before shutting off this computer.

Challenge Wrap Up

 

GOALS

 

1. Macros 

1286 - 1686 Calories

62g protein

Under 80g carbs

Under 100g fats

 

How did I do? Abysmal. I've eaten for the most part with an eye toward sticking with my macros, but fell hard off the tracking bandwagon - because smoothies have a lot of ingredients and I am lazy. And then I'd just get derailed from there. 

 

Most days, I had a smoothie for breakfast and only coffee while out (sometimes lunch as well). Ate reasonably at home most days. Only really over-ate a hand full of times. 

 

2. 2 - 3 yoga sessions a week 

Current schedule looks like: Monday night, maybe Tuesday, Wednesday night, Maybe Thursday, Maybe Friday

 

How did I do? Great! Hit 2 yoga sessions each week, even when my schedule was killed by summer class cancelations. 

 

3. Focus on meaningful social interactions 

 

How did I do? Great! Nurtured my friendships, made a new friend, and kept my general social schedule up. 

 

4. Support the DH - bonus: it looks like his exercise and healthy eating regimen has pulled him out of his doldrums a bit. 

 

How did I do? Good! DH has been on a great track, I found some peace re: my role in life from speaking with a friend, and I've been able to support his goals through nutrition again. 

 

And that's it, other than blog and video posts + steps + the other shit I need to be doing but really don't feel like focusing on at all this cycle. Whoo! 

 

How did I do with this nebulous cloud? Good - once weekly recipe & daily picture hit the blog, no more than 4 days between Instagram posts, posted 1-2 videos a week, and finished out my Arabic classes for the summer. 

 

This cycle was mostly coasting, but it's better than albatross wings .... on to the next.
