PACT Plan Challenge 2

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy and wealthy and wise"

 

I'm continuing my plan to Put Away Childish Things (PACT) which you can read more about here.

 

I will be continuing my daily calorie goal, taking the next step in my sugar goal, and adding in a sleeping goal which will be the big focus of this challenge. I also plan to maintain my habit of walking every day, but will not report on it in this challenge.

 

June Goals

 

  • Eat one or less servings of sweets per day - YES/NO
    • One day per week with NO sweets - YES/NO/PENDING
  • Eat less than 2500 calories/day - YES/NO
  • Go to bed by 10:00pm daily - YES/NO
  • Wake up and get ready at 7:00am daily - YES/NO
  • Determine diet habits and triggers and adjustments to be made - YES/NO/PENDING
  • Get new bank account - YES/NO/PENDING

 

It looks like a lot, but I think it'll be manageable. The sweets and calorie goals I've been working on for over a month, so it's basically a continuation. The sleep and wake-up goals are paired (I need to go to bed earlier if I'm going to get up earlier) and are the big focus this challenge. The last two are just to be done sometime in the month. The first is to help fill out my future goals to get a better handle on my diet and change some of my bad habits. The second is just a to-do that fits with the challenge theme =)

 

As with last month, I've identified a few obstacles I'll face and a plan to overcome them. First off, later this week I am graduating!! That'll likely mean extra food and a late night. I'll allow 2 sweets for the day on both Friday and Saturday (graduation parties) and will eat healthy while not at the events to leave more calorie room. Saturday night is the banquet, so I will waive the bed time that night, and adjust the wake time on Sunday to 8 hours after I go to bed.

I'll also be camping later in the month, and plan to bring less sweets than usual and more fruit.

 

I will also note that the calorie goal will shift down as needed if I gain weight two weeks in a row while actually following the goal. I hope that this system will keep me on track for weight loss, but also make sure I don't try to move down too fast.

I just realized my bed time goal will be a day delayed haha. So it'll be bed time for the night before, and wake up time for the day that I am posting. Today was a good day food-wise though. I was fasting most of the day, so easy to stay in calories, and I was just fine eating fruit tonight instead of fake sweets, so I got my weekly no-sweets day in early!

I was a teensy bit over in my calorie goal, but I managed to not eat anything later in the evening, which was tough, so I'm counting it. Also better that way than saying "I'm already over, so let's eat whatever I want", which I've been known to do. So hooray!

Another good day. I was a bit late for bed tonight (will score it tomorrow), but still within half an hour, so I think it might still count. It's hard to be exact with kids around haha.

Today was pretty good. Exercised some self restraint with sweets, thought I was good to have a snack in the afternoon (and that would be it for the day), but then my wife came home with cookies I can't say no to (one of my kryptonites). I still stayed under calories though, so that's good. I bought a ton of veggies at the store yesterday, now I just need to make sure I use them before they go bad! (it's been a problem in the past)

Today was a grad day, so actually 2 sweets and won't be in bed by 10, but that's a part of the plan. Had a big grad breakfast, then didn't eat till my sister's birthday party tonight. Now waiting for Solo to start, so we'll see how that goes!

Today was a great day!! Officially graduated and then had an in person devotional with the leader of our church! Pretty awesome. Food was not so awesome, but what can you do. I actually could have met my goals but for a bad choice at night after the devotional. Il survive though.

Grad party today! So two sweets and waived Bed time. It was a great banquet, but I really didn't over do it, which I'm very happy with. Also the rest of the day was good, so overall a success!

Good day. Got everything according to the terms of the waivers. Now that all the grad stuff is done it'll be back to normal on the goals. I got to bed on time tonight, but then stayed up looking at our yearbook... So I might not wake up on time tomorrow haha. I did go out for a walk in the rain today though!

Haha I prefer to think of it as relatable. But setting a good example for my patients is a large part of my big why.

Not a very good day... It was kind of a lazy day, and I think that encouraged a little extra gluttony. I didn't totally implode, but definitely made some bad choices. Here's to being better tomorrow!

Went to my in-laws today, which is always a trigger. Luckily I got full quick, and made some good choices in the evening. I am almost forgetting about my sugar free day, since I did it so early last week I haven't really had to think about it. Maybe tomorrow.

I meant to do my no sweets day today, and thought I had, until I reviewed my log and realized I had something after breakfast without even thinking about it! So close. Maybe tomorrow. Otherwise things went well today though. @WhiteGhost I pan fried a steak tonight. It was ok. The meat was actually a bit freezer burned, but I wanted to use it up. Also it was more well done than I like, but that was for my wife's sake. I'd love to get a meat thermometer so I can do it right...

I slept in this morning. I could say that it's because I needed to stay in bed with my daughter, but that's just my excuse haha. I did get my zero sweets day though! I have to say it's much easier in the summer when there are plentiful delicious fresh fruits.

Today was on track to be a good day, but then my wife surprised me with dessert at the end of the day and I couldn't (and honestly didn't want to) turn it down. It's hard when she's doing it to be nice. My willpower was such that if I avoided it (which I was) I'd be fine, but when it's right in front of me I'm not turning it down. 

 

Last night we went to the Lord of the rings symphony! So bonus Nerd points, but didn't get to bed on time. 

 

Today we took the kids to see Incredibles 2. It was pretty good! Jack Jack was the best part, as expected.
