The Gothlete Posted July 24, 2018 Report Share Posted July 24, 2018 NF Stats: Academy Level 14 Gym Level 5 Current PRs Bench: 85 Squat: 170 Deadlift: 235 Weight 175 lbs - Down from 195, a successful Keto/IF cut before the summer. Goal is ~145 lbs, my pre-doctorates weight. I'm not too obsessed with this number though. If I weigh 155 lbs and it's because of body composition changes, that'll do. Goal Habits This is where the rubber hits the road. Nutrition is not a struggle for me (I'm a Certified Nutrition Specialist, among other degrees), but getting up in the morning and making that consistent is really the big thing. So I want to be a person who: Wakes up refreshed with my alarm, doesn't press the snooze button Moves EVERY MORNING, first thing. Preferably Crossfit/Weightlifting, but Mobility and Morning Walks also count. Turns off my screens by 9pm. I don't have insomnia or trouble sleeping, but I know ALL ABOUT that blue light cortisol imbalance. I want to be on my Kindle/reading books rather than browsing teh interwebs before bed. These really are the big ones. If I can do this, everything else will follow. First Log Monday July 23rd, 2018: Completed Gym 5A workout. Walked a mile. (Shoulders could go higher, but I have wrist issues and need to be cautious.) I’m going to post here as well as in the beginner group to keep me honest. I’m focusing on Pivot Points, areas that I know will help everything else stack up more easily. GOALS I. I will wake up at 6:25 everyday, no snooze button. (Changed from 5:25, because that did nothing to benefit my goals or work schedule). II. Upon waking, I will immediately go to the gym/Crossfit by 6am (morning mile on weekends in order to maintain when the gym isn’t open early). I am not going to cancel previously reserved Crossfit classes. III. Personal Development: Every evening, I will spend 20-30 minutes reading a book in my field. I have so many sitting in my Kindle, gotta actually read them. I’m looking forward to The Body Keeps Score by Bessel van der Kolk. Boss Battle: Maintaining all of this when I visit my friend in NYC. Not sure if 6:25 would be better given my actual work schedule. Might experiment and alter challenge if necessary. II. Gym workout 6A. Later in the day due to flash-flooding in Philly all morning. III. Successfully started reading The Body Keeps Score before bed. (Note: Because my challenge involves evening rituals, I will log everything the following day.) Besides my CNS (mentioned above), I have clinical doctorates in Naturopathic and classical Chinese medicine, and DBT training. I specialize in treating pain and mental health from a whole-body perspective, helping people identify and dismantle destructive cycles. I work a lot with “high-functioning” folks who don’t “seem depressed etc” but are struggling. I also love working with Veterans for acupuncture. I’m here because I walk the walk! Had never heard of DBT before, had to look it up. I do know what CBT is though as I'm currently under treatment myself.
