Oh wow, the end of the year!!  EEEE!  That is exciting news!!!!  Lots of work though I'm sure!!!  No panic, you can TOTALLY do this!! :DDDD

The book has been through 2 rewrites, and probably will go through another one, and it's 3 years old at this point so I'm a bit on the 'finally' train of thought here. :D

Update:

So I didn't wind up doing any solid work because my brain wanted to procrastinate - I washed dishes, I sent messages, I read a lot (but not what I was supposed to read) and even did 7 sets of day 2 but the bad thing about a day with only two exercises is that I forgot my count more than once. So I am not sure if a few of the sets had 3, 4 or 5 turns. The side rotations were easier this time around - I could stack my feet (though my toes on my left foot cramped up - they can be sorta double-jointed and hyper-mobile) and I didn't shake.

Since I've done a few of these days before  - during the yoga, it's crazy to see how much more I can do now, even if the yoga didn't feel like much. And it's easier for my to stretch now that I know some moves. I'm excited about day 4, since that was the hardest day when I first did this (either that or day 5 was the last day I did).

Also, I've had this yoga mat for just a bit, and my toenails have already butchered it. >_<

Now, it's 11 pm and I'll make myself shower and go to bed right away, even if it's just to read.

Tomorrow is going to be a good day, and I'll battle the stress caused procrastination better than today. And please future Echo, get up when you wake up. Come on.

I'm so here for a Cordelia challenge. It totally sucks what they did to Cordelia (and if you ever finish Angel you're just gonna get more pissed) but she is one of my favourite characters.

I did finish Angel. I loved her send off though season five had some dumb tonal shifts, when she came back it was like you knew exactly what was missing (ad I appreciate the fact everyone lost her way when she was gone and she had to come down and kick their butt into gear). I wanted to strangle Josh Whedon for the Jasmine arc - and everything would have been so much better if the audience found out Cordy was not Cordy right away and then we just watched this thing ruin every relationship she cherished THAT IS HOW YOU DO THINGS LIKE THIS YOU DICK, YOU'RE A WRITER YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS IS FAR BETTER COME ON - this is what my writer brain says.

She is amazing though - she drives through a pack of vampires, and into the school for people she barely knows or likes and bites a vampire just a few weeks after finding out all of these things exist, I will never not love her. I remember a paragraph I found about her 'so demonise me already' line I will copy below (and edit a bit for capital letters and punctuation):

"And the line “So demonise me, already,” is one of my favourites - both because it shows how seamlessly she makes that sacrifice and because of its double-meaning - so demonise me, already, says Cordelia Chase, who makes her own decisions no matter what anyone else thinks or says, who will readily and unflinchingly face people shit-talking and figuratively demonising her to hell and back if that’s what it takes to do what she thinks is right and protect the people she loves. So demonise her, already, and go fuck yourselves while you’re at it."

Good habit to get into here. When you get used to the ritual of going to bed and laying down, it helps with sleep. Rooting for you!

Week ZERO: Echo's exercising

I've wound up exercising every other day. I'm fine with this for now. I did day 3 today, and it took to get to my second set to wonder if I was doing it right. I think I interpreted wrong but even if I did I did a lot more exercise than less so I'm fine with it - what I did is below:

Spoiler

Dance warm up - cardio

Set 1 - 20 sec break between the smaller sets, 2 min break between each exercise

squats - 3x10 20 sec break between

side kicks - 3x20 (10 each leg)

lunge step-ups - 3x10 (10 each leg, only for this set)

side lunges - 3x20 10 each leg)

Set 2

squats - 3x10 20 sec break between

side kicks - 3x20 (10 each leg)

lunge step-ups - 3x10 (5 each leg)

side lunges - 3x20 10 each leg)

Set 3

squats - 3x10 20 sec break between

side kicks - 3x20 (10 each leg)

lunge step-ups - 3x10 (5 each leg)

side lunges - 3x20 10 each leg)

Stretching incorporating some yoga moves

So... I might have messed up the definition of sets, but this above exercise is what kicked my ass today, like 'dripping sweat, close to falling on my ass' type of kicking my ass, so it's great (come at me DOMS)! Now I'm eating some combo of chick-peas (not from a can this time), red beans from a can and pre-prepared minced meat mix. With some sour cream (the salty kind, people from the US might not know what the hell I'm talking about).

I've been having a weird, I wouldn't describe it as pain, but more like discomfort in my back, around and between my shoulder blades. Stretching it and gonna focus on sitting up straight.

Now I just need to shower and work, I don't have as much time as yesterday. Today I woke up at 4:50 am and went to bed again, and woke up (for the final time, I woke up several times between those two times) at like 10 am. Yes, it's going to take a while to get my groove back, even when it comes to going to bed early. If I don't wind up going on this weekend I'll work on it (yesterday I worked a lot and got a headache, resisted sleep till the ban of my existence - 6 pm when I fell asleep and went to bed later than the ideal because I didn't turn off the computer when I was supposed to). This just needs to be something I work on it. I also chose to not do dishes (or other chores) but I did clean after myself and I'm not sure if that counts in my head. I just need to find the balance.

I think it was a good idea to do the clean out of my things only once a week (the counter) because if I did it all at once (and I am capable of doing that) will not change my mindset, and that is what I want to change, to get used to tossing things I don't like. I feel the resistance already, but I will increase the counter next week, you betcha.

I mean I think you did 3x more than you should have :) but CQ makes a good point. If you did it and you are able to recover from it then you did better than if you didn't do 3x the work.

I agree. I just also want to know how to read these darbee exercises, and maybe consciously choose to do triple the work :P

I mean I did do this the same way a few weeks back when I tried out the program and it meant the day afterwards  all of these (minus the cardio) was full of pain, but it didn't happen this time around so we'll see. :D

Update: Echo hasn't done much today, but that's okay

I sent the editing thing yesterday so now I need to wait for the weekend to be over for my editor to be able to see it and I feel both nervous and like a balloon has deflated. Socialising was a bust and it will probably won't happen today either and it sucks ass, but that is what happens when you have one friend that shares your town and need more than that to be able to do anything remotely interesting (and there isn't much here).

I need to work on a freelance gig today and it will be okay as soon as I make myself start it.

tumblr_n4t5fo119r1txhawzo1_250.gif

I have DOMS today but not a lot. I rolled out my thighs with a deodorant bottle (because I don't have a foam roller) and can't kneel down without it taking 2 minutes, but I went shopping because we had no food in the house, had crispy bacon and eggs and apples and coffee and took a nap that was actually a nap and not me passing out for 3 hours (I woke up before my alarm alone and managed to lay around without falling asleep again - I like when it happens - btw this is the way I work on character designs and plot because I get to throw ideas at the wall and anything stupid slides off). The muscles there are still tense and annoyed but not nearly as much as  I thought they would. And today's exercise is day 4 and that doesn't seem that bad though not sure if I can do it (it's basically a two minute plank) but I can try and can always lower my knees if it gets too hard - I want to even out all my muscle groups. I'll see if I do it. EDIT: Did it, took 3,20 min instead of the 2 it should have but I did it.

I think I finally got over my beginner progress? Maybe? I'm not good at seeing that. I know I've been exercising for over a year (with some breaks but whatever) and try and focus on the work and progress rather than the scale of my progress (I do kinda regret not taking progress pictures because I do want to see the exact amount of wimpiness I lost) because it can get discouraging real fast. Any progress is good progress and hell, an hour of walking with heavy grocery bags after pulling what I pulled yesterday was something I count as impressive. So, focusing like that.

Everyday gains are the best.  Like, lifting more in the gym and running farther is awesome...but putting it to practical use is the best!

Super clever to use a deodorant bottle for foam rolling. I  nabbed my rolling pin for the same reason. Even after I finally bought a foam roller, I still like the rolling pin for the quads. For me, quads are the easiest to get that DOMS pain- I never want to move again feeling

Gotta love the "what can i find in the house" alternatives for foam rollers. My go-to is a tennis ball, and this rubber dog toy that's shaped like a dumbbell and works really well. Side effect is getting the dog excited since I'm stealing his toys....

One of my favorites is actually this toy cannon ball, it's about the size of a  ping pong ball but smarter. It's perfect for foot massage

I ether do the DIY thing or I just use my hands because that way if it's an isolated muscle I can physically grab it and pull it but I still don't do the rolling and the massages as often as I should. And yeah quad pain is the worst. I still have it actually.

Week Zero Recap:

This week has been, well fine. There has been good and bad which is the reality of life and I'm not going to complain about that.

I used this site today to figure out when I should set my bedtime for now (they also has the calculator that goes the other way around) - I have around a year before I will have to get up earlier regularly so I am taking the time to figure out my bedtime. This means I am setting it an hour and a half later - 7:15 instead of 5:45 so that if I go to bed at 11:30 and it takes 15 min for me to fall asleep, I have the chance of a good night's rest. If I wake up early consistently I'll know to move it. Eventually I want to get used to getting up right away and having a long day with no naps and move my bedtime to 5:45 again (which if this site is good will mean I go to bed at 10:30).

"Ace the SATs" goal - This week is the start of my main goal - either Thursday or Friday I'm taking a trip and then I'll either have something to celebrate or will need a new game plan for life. I'm leaning towards the first.

"Angel Investigations, we help the hopeless" - I've stayed on top of dishes all week despite not doing them every day. I also yesterday cleaned the kitchen and ordered things my way (and finally got rid of the hard to clean glasses that for some reason my mom loves using so now she has to use other ones). I didn't interfere with other cleaning, and I'm not interfering with it today either I cleaned alone. I actually kinda chased people away from the kitchen yesterday. And now we have a clean usable table, all of the useless jars are gone and yay! I've been procrastinating the freelance thing a lot. Suffice to say I am looking forward having to turn it off for the exams (making myself do that) and focusing on my book and them over it.

"The crossbow" goal - 4 days out of the 30 done on Athena's Playbook Darebee plan - it's actually I think easier than what I thought it would be in places, and I have no idea how to scale it - I can't do the exercises in cardio any faster than 2 min a pop because I am still learning them (if I try I just wind up doing the burpees backwards and stuff like that) but the seven sets I did the first day did not make me nearly as sweaty as the triple day 3 did. My quads and glutes still hurt (while climbing the stairs) but I don't mind it. It's still a lot of exercising and I'm fine with that.

I do need to drink more water though.

The Evolution - Been getting a bit too pissed these days but not sure if it's because of PMS making me easily riled or not - this weekend I was fine though so yay.

ShadowyLazyIndiancow.webp                  CluelessHideousAmberpenshell.webp

Now, for the main event.. the Cordy quests:

  1. Dennis the ghost quest - This is working really well. Aside from a few times where I was 'if I don't do this no one will what if I don't have time and we wind up with a pile of dishes again' but I discovered I can slack one day and still make it up if I don't give up. Focusing on what I care about (or what I care more about) works a lot.
  2. I think it, I say it, it's my way quest - This has come up in a few tiny times (aforementioned friend on day one has had a few and I have been honest with myself a lot) and I am doing it. It's surprisingly easy though yes I am not going for Cordy levels of rude unless someone actually is asking for it by being a jackass. None of those yet.
  3. Well, duh/I'm not a sheep quest - I had a moment of self-worry about the book, and I talked to myself about it. I did go into this with realistic expectations and didn't think the editor will just go 'perfect' and not do anything, so it's a bit easier. And it still hasn't been a lot of work honestly, I can see the things I need to fix (it's always easier when I\m analytical about it) and I am not worried about it. Much. This quest hasn't come up in another way mostly because I haven't gone out or interacted with people much, so it's kinda all about my mindset with myself at this point, which is perfectly fine.
  4. You didn't just hurt me, you gave away my clothes quest - Counter is either at 2/5 or 3/5 if you count this morning's unplanned clean up. I gave some things away and tossed some more clothes. I am looking forward to this now,  especially since I know that I'll get new ones and I'd like to wear them more. I might wind up doing more than 5.

Today I got up early, made coffee, and went to the store all before 9 am so week one has started out great. All I need to do now after this update is work my butt off and then relax and make sure I do it in that order. I can do that.

I'm sorry but what on earth is a backwards burpee?

Just a burpee with the moves confused around. :D If I don't count or rush I forget to squat down and go for the plank first for example.

Well, today I cooked, almost burned a pot (tip don't cook a new grain and assume that the recepie knows what it's talking about) but made awesome lunch that we have a lot of.

Worked but slept a lot, whihc is annnoyng but we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Be careful doing lots of burpees quickly unless you're sure your form is solid...that's why my back is so bent out of shape right now.
