Moros - Once More, With Feeling

Recommended Posts

Ms. Moro's favorite show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  So, it seems fitting that I do:

Buffy-Once-More-Featured.jpg

I am basically keeping the goals I had made last challenge:

Goals for this challenge
- Wear my CPAP mask for at least 30 minutes a night
- Get eight hours of sleep
- Do the Ranger Workout six days a week
- Meditate every day
- Post to NF every day
- Yoga 3 times a week
- Get more than 232 points this time.

Some day, I hope to be this cool:

Avoid the "Bunnies":

Things will be really unsettled - it's not clear if my son is getting married or not, due to visa difficulties.  Also, my semester will start.  I will not let the bunnies get to me:

Challenge 33.txt - August 13 - September 9, 2018

About (redacted):

Like a lot of NF people, I struggle with stuff besides physical fitness.
I generally don't bring it up in this forum for a couple of reasons:

Because of my and Ms. Moros's jobs, I have to be careful to not be too
    specific.
I am very fortunate that I have a pretty good support system for stuff
like ADHD, anxiety, depression, friends and romantic partners going
through trauma work, family illness and trauma.  I know a lot of people
at NF who aren't so fortunate, so I want to make it clear that I'm not
judging anyone else's choice to share.  For me, NF is about getting
physically healthier and getting more awesome (Rangerly) overall.
So, I try to keep the focus here on my physical stuff, not my emotional stuff.
I have a tendency to over-share and I would rather be helpful to others
here than complain about my own stuff.

Goals for this challenge
- Wear my CPAP mask for at least 30 minutes a night
- Get eight hours of sleep

    H. Yoga (restorative or Yin) rather than active Yoga
    I. Walking
    J. Mace workouts
    K. Bodyweight workouts

Do other things to replace points:
    L. Reading about better form for exercises

3. Workout substitutions - when I can't do normal workouts for whatever
   reason

    - Can swim laps, or use bike, or walk at YMCA

4. Redacted Protocols

Swimming laps – 2 points
Walking with Ms. Moros in the park - 2 points

Maybe this will inspire me to use my mace some more. My gym has a giant tire in their trainer section that I want to beat up, lol.

I follow Leo Urquides - I am nowhere in his league, but it's a cool thing to strive for...

This is so cool! Also love the buffy theme. I need to get back to watching that show! Especially before the new one comes out.

Zero Week - Day 2 - Moros does Yoga solo

So, exercise-wise, today was a good day.  Walked early, got all of my stuff in the morning.  In the evening, Ms. Moros had some editing to do, so I did a number of short videos.  I worked on Sun Salutation A, the transfer from Downward Dog to lunge, and some wrist rehab.  Fun was had:

I did not look like this, but you are welcome anyway...

Zero Week - Days 3-6 - Editing and Illness

So, I didn't mean to disappear:

buffy_vs_dracula__dracula_always_comes_b

Note - this is the only time I have seen a cloud of mist look sheepish.

I had a big deadline this week - I am doing a freelance project on the side and it was due on Friday.  Due to other things, I got behind so Wed-Thu was basically just meditation.

I was all pumped to catch up on Friday and Saturday, but Ms. Moros was pretty sick, so I had to help her out.

This morning (Sunday), I did finally get to a walk and do my meditation.  More later today.

Zero Week - Day 7 - Walking and Training

A pretty quiet day - did my walking and worked really hard at work.  The construction on my hall is almost done, so Ms. Moros and I cleaned up a bit.

Days 2 - 3 - Getting up from the Brick Wall

So, last few days have been pretty crazy.  The non-redacted things I am dealing with is:

  • My son's wedding is in Germany next week.  This is a great thing, but there have been visa issues, money issues, transport issues, so not a non-stress event.
  • My school's semester will start soon, so that's always a busy time.
  • I am teaching a new workshop.
  • I am behind on several work deadlines.

So, I feel like everything is coming at me.  But now it's time to fight back:

Days 4 - 16 - We interrupt this challenge for a wedding...

So, this happened on Saturday:

2018_08_24.wedding.small.jpg.eaec1189f3062b9b87ad7b39e3a77e14.jpg

So, that's me and Ms. Moros on the right, my son Kevin and his lovely bride Swenja, and Swenja's parents Falk and Susanne.

Getting there took a lot of effort.  This is one of the reasons I do NF: so I can do these things, even when they are stressful.

Besides this, I ran a brand-new workshop and started my semester.  I wound up running around multiple air ports and

train stations, and lifting many heavy luggage objects.  I flew back late on Monday.

Today (Tuesday), I am resting at home, doing some stretches and getting ready to teach in the morning.

It was a good week - stressful, but the end results were good.

Edit - I swapped the directions in my head!  Ms. Moros and I are on the right of the picture...

Day 16 - Recovery At Home

tenor.gif?itemid=7897042

So, today I slept 10 hours, and then got up.  Ms. Moros and I mostly were quiet - did some unpacking and putting things away.

I did some foot rehab (my feet are really sore), and I did get some restorative yoga in before I went to bed.

Same here. Isn't is great when you see the real life payoffs?

Days 17 - 28 - Illness and Challenge Wrap-Up

So, things went sideways - Ms. Moros got very, very ill, and I've been taking care of her.  There was a point where it looked like we would have to take her to the hospital, but she rallied and is slowly getting better.  As a result, that, plus all of my normal work derailed the challenge.

Normally, I would feel all guilty and shamed - but this time, I know that I did everything I could do.  I did manage to meditate every day, and walk two days, but that's about it.  So, I'm still here, and still a ranger.

I'll post my new challenge when I can.

Only a dead legionary gives up.
