Elastigirl
Weather forecast said it was going to be hot today, so I did my workout before my prayer group meeting. Still smoky, so I hid indoors. I did do my shoulder mobility program. Doing a lot more sitting this week. With all the windows and doors closed, I spend a lot of time in our bedroom with the AC. I did tidy the bathroom and clean it though. Tomorrow the smoke is supposed to clear a bit. My plan was to take this week off of rings and do it next week. But Friday is supposed to be cooler and less smoke, and then maybe next week back to heat and smoke again. So I will probably do the ring workout while I can. I have indoor rings, but they are on my pull up bar, and there isn't room for stuff like inverted hangs. 4 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment

Not sure how close those people were to the fire. Just reading the news , and there are over 500 wildfires in the B.C. area of Canada. I remember his forestry days vividly and as young fiancée who went to visit him and then had to help curb the grass fires next to the Eucalyptus section that had a crown fire (tops of trees on fire) raging through them. Mad Hatter
I’ve experienced the ash falls in California, it is super creepy. And scary when it was so close to my friend’s home. A lot of the wildfires in Canada are necessary though as they’re a natural part of the forests’ life cycle. Of course climate change and environmental changes (ironically including fire prevention!) mess up that natural cycle, but just because the number looks scary it doesn’t mean that the impact needs to be scary. Especially in unpopulated areas, which is most of Canada. Quote Link to comment

I was reading an article about how the fires do help life cycle, and how many plants grow back, and even flourish after fires. I wasn't sure in the news I read about the Canadian fires how many were close to people. Of course, another problem is more people are now living in those areas in the middle of nowhere , so then their houses are endangered by the fire 1 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment
Elastigirl
copy and paste of today's training log and video: So my plan was to take this week off and start Week 13 on Monday. Only the weather forecast says that we may get smoke from the wild fires in our area again next week, and I don’t do my workout outside then. SInce today was clear, I thought I would start today.Which is kind of weird to start a new week on Friday, but it works. I changed the order of the movements so that I didn’t have to move the rings quite as much. The big thing I noticed from the video was the I rushed through the top position. That usually happens with the first runs through. I’m so busy focusing on the move I have to do next I forget to focus on the current one. (: Wednesday I will try and pause a bit in each movment and make them pretty. Overall, it was pretty easy to go through them. I did 4 rounds. I felt like I could have done 5, but I figured I’d do that Wednesday. I finished up with some ring rows and then did some shoulder mobility work. I’ve been working on the GMB shoulder mobility plan this week. 4 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment
Terra
Fire season can be a real bummer! After a super dry winter I was worried about this summer. Fortunately we have been spared from fires for the most part this summer and now that the monsoon rains have kicked in, fire is less of a concern. We got ash fall out several years ago and that is just creepy! Sending you gentle breezes that blow the smoke away but don't entice the fires to grow bigger!!! Your ring work is so cool! Elastigirl
So, the dishwasher saga continues. Who knew getting a dishwasher could be so difficult? So it was supposed to arrive today, though we had no installation date. Then hubby called them yesterday, and the delivery place said they hadn't received the dishwasher. Called Home Depot, and they don't know why it wasn't sent out. Hubbly called around , actually called a local appliance store. They have the dishwasher we want , but the install and delivery is booked up for a couple of weeks. However, if we pick it up, and install ourselves, we could come get in Monday. Mr. I. watched a how to install dishwashers video on you-tube, and thinks he can do it, so unless Home Depot says they are bringing us a dishwasher Monday, that is what our plan is. We need to get a truck and go pick up the dishwasher at the warehouse. Hubby said he thought the two of us could load/unload it. It is super cool for me to be strong enough to do something like that, and not make him have to worry about finding a friend who is available 9 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment

Mr. I. watched a how to install dishwashers video on you-tube, and thinks he can do it, I think this is the different countries thing, but it sounds like installing a dishwasher there is complicated? Here it is a case of having a cold water tap available (you had a dishwasher, so there should be one?), and a +-3-4ft high drain pipe (again, there should be one available?) Then you connect the water pipe (inlet) to the tap (remember water tape!) and you put the curved end of the outgoing pipe in the drain pipe. It is an idea to use duct tape to secure the outgoing pipe to the drain pipe. It will however be a bit of extra work if you first have to install both a tap and drain pipe, though. Hope you guys get something sorted soon. 15 hours ago, Elastigirl said: We need to get a truck and go pick up the dishwasher at the warehouse. Just walk into the warehouse, shock the people by getting the dishwasher, walk out, and take it home It is heavy though, so what might help when you get to your house, is having two very sturdy planks you can put on the back of the truck to the ground, and then push the dishwasher off; or get it to the etch of the loading bay of the truck, and the truck as close to your house as possible, then pick up and carry inside. Might be easier. Well, you'll manage it, either way. 2 Quote Mrs. Van's Latest Challenge Zechariah 4:6 "Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit, saith the Lord." Link to comment

Elastigirl
Had a good weekend. Saturday we went for a walk/ gecocache on a pretty urban trail with views of the lake. The air was moderate, meaning it is not exactly good, but not bad either, but looking at over the lake it looked like the city was covered in fog, only it was smoke. Then we had friends over for game night. One of our friends wasn't there, he bike in a race from Seattle to Vancouver, Canada, about 120 miles or so I think , Very impressive. They do it over two days. Sunday morning was church was nice. Then in the afternoon, the smoke returned. We were going to my sister's for dinner and visiting, so we stopped to pick up some Costco chicken. Just walking from the car to the store made my eyes burn and my throat scratchy. This morning the air was a bit better, so we could open our windows. I was debating whether to do my outside workout or not, but while I was having breakfast the air was downgraded from yellow (moderate) to orange (bad for people who are sensitive) so I decided to do an inside workout. Which was kind of fun actually. I worked on my pull ups and ring rows for the PVP, and since I wasn't doing my other workout, I could put in a mega number, and for the small moment in time at least, I'm in first. Also worked on my dips, and I am stronger in them then when I was doing them a couple of months ago. By the time I got home, the air had been downgraded to red (unhealthy for everyone, close all windows and stay inside) So now it is super hot, very glad we have AC In our bedroom One of the gals from our church invited me and a friend over for lunch to celebrate the friend's birthday. Had a very nice lunch. The friend who hosted is in her 70's and always inspires me. She showed me her garden, which has all sorts of flowers, and veggies, and fruits. Ad she makes apple juice, and fruit leather, and all sorts of stuff. And she told us about how she made pickles with her granddaughter. She has all sorts of energy, which I think is fantastic. And the super cool news, we have a dishwasher!! Hubby installed it. He didn't need my fab muscles to help him, as he had the hand truck. I think if the air hadn't been so bad, he would have had me help him, but he didn't really want me outside, and he managed. Took him a bit longer to install than he hoped, but it is all in, and it is very nice. 7 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment
