PACT Plan Challenge 4

I'm continuing my plan to Put Away Childish Things (PACT) which you can read more about here.

 

I'm also running with the mini challenge theme, and going full on Hogwarts this challenge!!

This semester I'll be taking 4 classes as follows, for which I'll need to do homework each day:

 

Transfiguration - Eat less than 2250 calories/day

Defense Against the Dark Arts - Days without eating out by myself

History of Magic - Write daily in my journal

Charms - Clean the house for 10 minutes each day

I'll also be playing one match of Quidditch each week:

 

Each day with one or less servings of sugar is a goal (10pts)

3 days in the week with no sugar catches the snitch (150pts)

Each day less than 3 no sugar days  the other team catches the snitch (-150pts)

Any extra servings of sugar the other team gets 3 goals (-30pts)

This week I've kind of been transitioning between my last month's goals and this, so I won't count it for points. I've done really well at not eating out though. This goal is actually mostly financial, but also helps with healthy eating, so that's a bonus! For those who followed my last challenge, I'm continuing the other goals as habits, just not tracking them here.

I'm an introvert.  Your house points challenge seems interesting.  How does that work?  You just give yourself a point when you say "Hi Jan" (or whoever), but you lose a point if you just say "Hi" cuz you forgot their name?

Exactly. I am pretty terrible at remembering names, but more so I'm terrified of using the wrong one. So I've developed a bad habit over the years of never using people's names, even if I know them for sure. 

 

Apparently people like hearing their names, and there have been a few times where I'm pretty sure people thought I didn't know their name because I didn't use it. Not exactly the best way to build relationships an make people feel good about themselves.

 

So I'm trying to force myself to use people's names, both so that I actually learn and remember them, but also to help build relationships and get a few more charisma points lol.

The calories for today were a bit of an estimate as we went to a friend's house for dinner, but I think I was pretty close. I was gone all day, so didn't get a chance to really do any cleaning. Did great on the sugar front though, and pretty well with the names. That goal is somewhat subjective for what counts as an actual opportunity to greet someone, but I think I know. Also even today it caused me to remind myself of people's names after so that I could do it next time, so that's good.

I was so close to going through McDonalds for breakfast this morning, but I held it together. Tomorrow might be a different story though, I have to go in early and then wait around for an hour before clinic. Time and a feeling of "I deserve this" might be my enemy. I was also lazy with getting people today. Overall pretty good day though!

So I did end up getting breakfast this morning, turns out I woke up extra early for nothing because of a miscommunication <_<. So I ended up waiting around for over an hour. I could have survived without it, but I was frustrated and gave in. Otherwise the day went well though, no sugar and despite the fat food I stayed under calories.

Managed without sugar today! Ended up buying food since I was on call half the night and in no state to make lunch unfortunately. Likewise journal went by the wayside. I'm proud of my sugar control this week though! My cousin's wedding is tomorrow, so this weekend might be tough, but I'll see what I can do.

So, the wedding itself went great, my health habits did not go so well. Tons of driving, overtired, and lots of delicious food. The week as a whole wasn't too bad though... Didn't do so hot in my studies, but I still Won Quidditch for the week, and am ahead in house points, so that's good. Classes should be better this coming week. But now it's time to go to bed!!

Good day today on all fronts. My wife made delicious meatballs for dinner because when we got back on the weekend we found our freezer door left open a crack! The meat thawed, but was still refrigerator cold, so we thought it better to cook it than re-freeze it. We had to throw out some other food, but at least some of it had tasty results!

Today was good! I met all my goals, and walked a ton! Almost 2 hours. I'll admit the calories are a rough guess, but should be close. I've actually been able to stay away from sugar fairly easily the last couple days too, which has been nice. I'll take it while I can get it!

I did end up eating too much tonight, but it was better than normal. Some pre dinner chips and salsa tipped me over my plan. I didn't go too crazy on the pizza though.

Today was pretty good - had a bit of extra sugar, but not too much, and got to play some ultimate Frisbee for a bit, which was fun. We'll see how the weight is doing tomorrow - I feel like I've been going ok for the last couple months, but my weight really hasn't changed much, and neither has my sizing. I'm not too worried, just a bit impatient I think haha.

WEEKLY REPORT 

 

Classes

Transfiguration - Eat less than 2250 calories/day - 6/7

Defense Against the Dark Arts - Days without eating out by myself - 7/7

History of Magic - Write in journal daily - 7/7

Charms - Clean the house for 10 minutes each day - 7/7

 

Quidditch

Goal Points  - Days with one or less servings of sugar - 60pts

Snitch Progress - 3 days in the week with no sugar - 4/3 - 150pts

Other Team Goal Points - Extra servings of sugar - 30pts

Other Team Snitch Points - Each day less than 3 no sugar days - 0pts 

 

House Points

My House Points - People greeted by name - 34pts

Other House Points - People not greeted by name - 16pts

 

The week was good overall. Did really well with my sugar goal, and the other goals worked out pretty well too. Unfortunately weight was essentially the same. I just need to remind myself that I'm building habits this time, not going for a bunch of weight loss at once. That's hopefully the end result, but I really shouldn't worry about it too much in the meantime. My first checkpoint for my PACT plan is on my birthday next month, and there isn't even a goal weight associated with it, just behaviours, so I should be on the right track.
