Welcome back Ink Slingers!!! It's time for another challenge. Who's excited?

 

For those that wander by and are interested, this is a thread for a small group that is a part of the website 4thewords and working on a challenge together there. It's a gameified writing site, basically. Feel free to play along or make general comments about writing, but the official challenge is limited to the four participants... @annyshay, @IAmInfinite, @lucky fire dragon, @oromendur.

 

Autumn Psychic Challenge

 

Each week we collect items (both drops from monsters and things we craft). The number of items that we collect determines the order of our "guesses" for the cards that Ristret will draw. If we guess positions correctly, we gain psychic points. That's it! Let's do it!

 

Here's the breakdown of what items count for what cards.

 

 Leaf/Paper - Leaf Boots, Leaves, Caravan Ticket, Forest Scroll, Leaf Breastplate, Leaf Helmet, Leafsung Boots, River Grass, Tico Leaves (Tico Week)

 

 Wood - Hardwood, Leafsung Key, Leafsung Wooden Sword, Wood, Wood Hammer, Wood Spear, Wood Sword, Wooden Bow, Wooden Chest, Crossbow

 

 Liquid - Dust Water, Di Bag, Red Dye, River Water, Coffee Bean Essence (Tico Week), Dust, Glass, Glass Necklace, Glass Scimitar, Glass Shards

 

 Animal - Claws, Reenu Wings, Scared Feather, Feathers, Fur, Leather Roll, Lorsa Fur, Rope, Spider Bow, Spider Legs, Spider Poison, Tambo Mane, White Fur

 

 Metal/Stone - Desert Stone, Gold, Golden Chest, Net, Old Staff, Raw Gold, Raw Steel, Raw Stone, River Stone, Rusty Amulet, Rusty Pendant, Sandstone, Steel, Steel Boots, Steel Dagger, Steel Sword, Stone, Stone Ring

Geez, getting the Lombri and Yasri isn't just getting them, it's also getting the wooden spears, and ropes, and leaf helmets, and leaf boots. And I thought I was ready to face that word count ....

Hehe. The quests keep getting more challenging. Consider yourselves warned.

 

I think I fixed the spreadsheet so that it's editable. Sorry, I'm a bit of a google docs newb. I added your items already @oromendur.

Inputed my results for today - managed to bag my first Yasri!

Do we want to go random (according to whatever quests we are doing) or do we want to try and choose specific cards? 

- Because two of us are in 3pc (though this may change with Tico Week), we will be getting a decent amount of stone/metal things, and Leaf is a general for wherever. So we will probably have a similar range every week, unless we target specific creatures with specific drops. Which ... sounds like a lot of unneccesary effort imho.

I kind of think we just go with whatever happens, but if somebody wants to tweak things we could give it a whirl.

I'm gonna try out using Sums in the spreadsheet (cause I got 4 fabric yesterday, and 3 more today) and I think having a way (for myself) to make sense of where the numbers are coming from is easier. (Also cause if I ever hit higher numbers i dun wanna have to do that bigger adding, and if I get it wrong it would be awkward). If you also want to, its =SUM(a,b)    which then gives you the sum of a and b.

managed a few Lorsa today and am wondering where to list the feathers they dropped? Are those sacred feathers or is that something else? The 10 Dust, 6 Lorsa Fur and 6 of the 7 Moon Scrolls I have inserted into the spreadsheet already.

Anything else to do about it?

Put them under plain old "feathers". "Sacred feathers" are a different item.

ahh now I found them, thanks. I was just a bit blind and didn't see them earlier which is why I asked

ehm this might be another stupid question, but are we supposed to collect items or defeat creatures this week? So far I've just been battling my Lorsa away, but I can change tack at any time.

I going with defeating my normal monsters (towards my quests), and then keeping track of whatever items we collect. If we want though, in the future, we can try targeting specific items and 'cards' but keep at the Lorsa!

Yup, we're working on collecting items. Make sure that you update the spreadsheet before tonight and I will put our guesses in for the card position. I will then clear the spreadsheet so that we can start over for next week.

Have had a full day in the garden so far with so many rotten apples to pick up from when we were away and sifting out the good(ish) ones, that will now need to cut and cooked into chutney and/or puree asap, so I might not have many words after that, but will do my best.
