In other news, WE GOT A HOUSE! Our realtor came through big time and found us a new build right in our price range (if a little high), but there was one left in the floor plan we liked so we pulled the trigger and should be in the new place by March or April depending on the build time.

It’s a weird thing to be moving into a house we’ll own. Lots of steps and very expensive (most expensive thing we’ve bought/finances to date). But feeling in a good place for it. Hopefully we can finally start building some home equity.

huh no way, congratulations!

The marriage class is called Dynamic Marraige and it’s based off the book His Needs Her Needs by Willard Harley. It’s based off the premise that everyone has a Love Bank that can either be filled or emptied by the activities of a significant other and the 10 different emotional needs to help keep their Love Bank full. There is also a companion book called Love Busters that covers more on how to avoid emptying your partners Love Bank.

This is a rough overview that I’ve gleaned from the introduction and first couple of chapters, so far it seems really interesting and beneficial. The class itself has a  workbook and there is about 30 minutes of homework each night reading the book, listening to talks, and a meeting once with other couples to talk about what we’ve learned. It’s supposed to go on for 9 weeks. So far I’ve been pretty impressed with the quality of information and the pragmatic approach on how to foster relationships.

Will report more on it as the class goes on if yall are interested.

Today is going a little better, I think I’ve just been trying to do too much. I’m a bit over committed at the moment so need to do a little schedule clearing. Hopefully tomorrow will be a little better as well and will try and be easier on myself in terms of scheduling.

Notes: Doing better today. Doing my weekly fast and finding at it gives me some clarity.  Picked up a little water weight from some salty soup last night, should correct by tomorrow.

Fast didn’t last all day, decided to have a cheat eat meal. Might do it weekly. To be determined. Have a feeling the scale won’t be right tomorrow, will see if things even out.

Notes: Been a rough week.

The marraige course is not going great, it’s pointed out some things that are tough to swallow and that are going to take work on both sides. I guess it’s a good thing to pinpoint areas that we had been quasi happily ignoring, but they are important and are going to take work. A lot of it is having faith that both sides are going to be working on things, which requires a lot of trust in your partner to do their part with very personal emotional needs that have been shared. It’s very exposing and uncomfortable to be as open as the program is suggesting, but I guess that’s a level of transparency that is important for deeper relationships. It can be scary and opens up the opportunity to be hurt more than you already are. Hoping things get better and that this course is going to be more help than harm.

That's not strange with the foundation of your life a bit shaky. Hope you're both having that faith and working on it, wish you all the best!

Having a tough time with a lot of changes. Has put me into a pretty bad depression, which is not supposed to happen with the medication I’m on. But such is life with Bipolar Disorder. Moved up my regular appointment and back to medication adjustments.

It’s was snowing here and in North Texas that means everything shuts down, including the gyms. Wasn’t really feeling at home workouts, partially because of the mood issue and partially because I was still slammed with work. Really looking forward to the snow clearing up and things getting back to normal.

This marriage class is really throwing us for a loop, lots of things being dredged up. It oscillates between being good and incredibly uncomfortable. We are only a couple of weeks in, so hoping some of the proposed changes make their way to being habit versus a painful need going through the hassle of being brought up then forgotten or again, or worse, ignored. There may be some professional counseling in the near future out of this.

On some new medication, hopefully it will help but it takes a week or so to kick in, so we shall see.

Things are getting better relationship wise. It’s baby steps but the things we are learning are gradually taking hold. They aren’t habits yet, but the actions are there and things are improving.

Sounds like you're both willing to put in the time and the effort, that's really the most important bit isn't it?

Coming out of the other side of a pretty substantial medication change, which is usually pretty taxing. Also was sick for a bit, thankfully nothing serious. Doing better and back to the gym this week.

Also making the decision to go back to MMA training once a week to start getting back into it. Super excited!!!

What language are you learning in Babel if I might ask?

Nice to see you got some snow in North Texas. Down here in S.A. it got into the low 30's for a few days but nothing worse than that.

I really hope your relationship with your wife can heal from whatever current state it's in.

P. S. It's hard for me not to avoid the forum for what seems like long stretches of time but I want to keep giving support to fellow Texans like yourself.

It’s been a wild couple of weeks, had an adverse reaction to some medication and have had to start all over on new bipolar meds, which sucks to be honest. It effects my mood, my energy, and my overall outlook on life. But I know it’s important and I’ll find the right dosage of the new med eventually.

In fitness news I’ve switched over to home workouts with Beachbody. Was just having too difficult a time making it to the gym with the time I have available. Currently doing a hybrid of P90X workouts and they are definitely pushing me. Their Yoga workout is no joke.

Survived the storms from earlier this week in Texas. Took some pictures for posterity, it was definitely something:

Lasted only a couple of hours and at the end even got to see a little rainbow, guess that can be a metaphor for things in life:

Going to work on getting back on track posting. It’s been a grueling couple of weeks with the med changes but I know this is important and posting here helps keep me centered. Plus I miss hanging out with my fellow Fitness Nerds here. 😁

Hope all is well with everyone. Onward!
