Early snow? Wow... Yeah, here it's hot and humid. I'm so tired of the rain and the humidity. Mosquitos are horrible.

Week One Day One:

(Reporting progress would be easier if I actually set some goals, eh? I'll get on that tonight default_smile.png)

 

Kettlebells: happened! Oh man, I am so weak though. I've got a lot of work to do to get back to where I was. But I went.

 

Food: not bad overall. Carbs under 30g. Cals a little high, but I think I'm going to not worry too much about that, and just focus on carbs, and the rest should fall in line. My bigger problem is not staying keto, so that's the real goal here.

 

No artificial sweeteners. No alcohol.

 

I think I'm going to set a "getting up on weekdays" goal. I didn't note the exact time yesterday, but it was later than I'd prefer.

 

 

I'm traveling for work today, and staying out of town overnight. I'm super excited about the Italian place I get to grab food from for supper! I've been before and it has some awesome low carb appetizers.

 

 

In other news, my contact at work is being extended until the end of November :(

I'm not happy, but I felt like refusing would burn some serious bridges that I don't want to burn. Blah.

On the plus side, I'm going to earn a bunch of extra lieu time, so I'll get to take a mini vacation at the end of it all.

Glad to hear that it is going a bit better. I totally understand trying to cope and hang in there while going through stressful times. Just do your best and keep at it.
I just feel like I've been "trying to hang in there" for so long now... I can't go on like this forever! And I know it won't be forever, but still, too long. Thank you though - I appreciate the empathy!

I've been thinking this week (as it's in the 90F's...) that I can't wait for a good hard freeze. We've had the worst HUGE spider problem this year that I've ever seen. Right now I have 5 around my house (outside at least) that are big enough to completely freak me out. My hippy self is about to buy some Raid to spray at them... from a safe distance

I guess that's good and bad. Do you know what you are doing after that yet? Not trying to add stress, just curious. I remember I while back you guys were looking to potentially move to a different city. I've lost track of the most current plan.
That's fair, too many plans! No intentions of moving right now though. I'm on a leave of absence from my previous position at the college, so I'll go back to that when this contract (mat leave coverage) ends.

This is a good thing. My old job was much less stressful... And only pays a little less.

However! I will miss having a meal allowance while traveling... Damn I ate well tonight!

I am not looking forward to today (4 presentations in 7 hrs is too many!) but I actually had a pretty nice stay at the hotel.

I got a room with a kitchenette, since it was only slightly more expensive and I figured I miiiight want to use it (totally did not)... Turned out to be a full out suite! Vaulted ceilings, separate bedroom, 2 TVs and enough room to do cartwheels if I wanted to.

I went to bed ridiculously early and had I've of those sleeps where I felt like I'd been sleeping for ever, and must have missed my alarm, then check my clock and it's been like 30 mins. I love that. Despite the frequent wakeups, I feel more well rested that I have in a while :)

Dinner was Caprese salad, sausage and goat cheese stuffed portobello and a couple meatballs.

I diiid go out and get some snacks after dinner last night, but I made decent choices, at least. Dark chocolate (2 squares), mixed nuts and some salami.

Goals: (which I have still not fully articulated)

Food: decent, although I estimate carbs to be around 35g. Hard with restaurant food to say for sure.

No workout.

Wake up: I was up around 5:45. Any time before 6 is solid.

No alcohol. No artificial sweeteners.

Keep carbs low. 1 pt for under 30g, 2 pts for under 20g. I'll review this week by week for point targets.

 

Go to kettlebells. There's potential for me to go 2x per week, although not always actually because my work schedule is irregular. I'm aiming to average once a week.

 

Get up on weekdays. I really really like having leisurely mornings. To achieve this, I should be up by 6:00. Lately it's been more like 630-645 ish, and it's not ideal. Also, if hubby starts working with his dad again, which is a strong possibility, I need to be up in time to give the pupper his morning walk.

 

Limit alcohol and artificial sugars. I'm not totally sure where balance lies for this goal. For now, I'm going to track it, and decide where to go from there.

 

But I partially blame the artificial sugars for my recent lack of weight-loss (and obviously alcohol doesn't help in that category either). This is part of my plan to get back to basics and finally lose that last (it WAS 10, but now it's 15) pounds.

 

I've updated my original post to include mah goals!

 

Let the thing doing commence.

 

Edit to add: I'm going to make my wakeup goal similar to my carbs goal, in that I'll get 2 points for getting up before 6, and 1 for getting up before 615, just to differentiate between barely not making my goal and actually sleeping well past when I want to.

Why are mornings so hard?

 

It's not an official goal but I've been slowly cutting down on the number of times I snooze in the mornings. I'm down to one snooze with a 6:15 alarm so I'm getting up at 6:25.

Lol, I worked at a hotel like this in college and got completely spoiled by it. Even 11 years later I'm still sad when I stay in "normal" hotel rooms

Yay for nice hotel!
I'm pretty used to it, I don't terribly mind. But it's too much talking, my throat is going to be raw! And presenting the same thing over and over is firstly boring, and also you tend to forget what you've already said or not haha

I just want today to be over.

And then I still have a 2+hr drive home, and I'll need to wash the car when I get back and just damn, it's a long day!

This sounds mostly great. You have a couple rough months to get through, but it will be better. I'm a little sad though. I know you had been really looking foward to this job as an opportunity. I'm hoping it all ends up being a blessing. You can go back to your old job, but still keep an eye out for future opportunities. You've gained a lot of experience and also have some ideas of what to be wary of.

Carbs: over. French fries happened.

Wake up: 1 pt for shortly after 6

Alcohol: 1 glass of wine

Sweeteners: none


Week One Day Four:

Carbs: over, I think. But avoided fries.

Wake up: so slept in! I was exhausted after Wednesday.

Alcohol: several glasses of wine

Sweeteners: none


I am just feeling a generally bleh - I was craving ALL the starches yesterday, and tried to make up for it by making keto comfort food. I think this was mostly successful - I made sausage dip-stuffed peppers and cauliflower mash.
Between that, the wine, the pizza soup for lunch and some dark chocolate I was definitely over on carbs and calories, but it could have been worse.

Get up: 1pt shortly after 6

Alcohol: much wine.

Sweeteners: none


Ehhhh not a great day. But not terrible. I STILL didn't eat fries, so that's a win [emoji14]

Hubs and I definitely indulged in a wine and vidya games night, which was delightfully stress relieving.
The alcohol definitely contributed to the carb overage, but it was mostly from eating too much cauliflower and green beans and bell pepper, so I'm not overly worried about it.


Today is all about domestic rangering and I'm getting my hair cut! It's been like a year, so that's too long... And it's making me insane right now, it looks scraggly and terrible up or down, no matter what I do with it. So chop chop chop time!


We're supposedly having a disc golf tournament tomorrow, but I REALLY do not want to play in the snow. I hate it.
I am seriously considering just helping out with the part I've already agreed to help out with, then bailing.
Or maybe I'll make a giant pot of chili and go sell it to the poor suckers freezing their butts off out there haha

Yikes, that's a lot of snow...for September at least. In general for my area lately. I think that's about as much as got all last winter :) I would not want to try and play disc golf in that

Sounds like a pretty good day too me. I definitely wouldn't worry about the carbs coming from the veggies.

Carbs: 38g. Still high. But better.

Alcohol: just the one glass of wine

Sweeteners: yes - had some protein powder whipped cream.


Good day overall :)

I did some dishes, made some hats to sell, and got my hair cut! I'm super happy with it.
