Howdy,

 

My name is Emrys. I'm a 28 year old rebel. I've been powerlifting for about two months and I've got a pretty good routine going. I'm finally seeing some gains and I'm looking to take things up a notch this challenge.

 

Sept 17-Oct 14 4 WEEK CHALLENGE:

GOAL 1: Diet. Dropped another 2 lbs last challenge so I'm down to my final 8lb weight loss goal \0/ Unfortunately, I've also lost some muscle and all signs point to low caloric intake. For this challenge, I'm increasing my intake to stay between 1400-1500 calories on non-gym days. Can get up to 1700 on gym days to account for additional protein. (0/28)

 

GOAL 2: Fitness. I'm trying to bulk and I know I'm not getting enough protein so I'm making it a goal to consume at least 40g of protein daily. (0/28) Any tips on this would be much appreciated!

 

GOAL 3: Language: I'm doing well with basic phrases but I need to make my practice a little more complex. The plan is to check out one book in Spanish from the library each week (0/4)

 

LEVEL UP MY LIFE: Debt. One more $100 payment and I'll have knocked off $1500 of this $4000 loan. I want it gone by 2019 so I'm rolling over this goal from the previous challenge: make a $50 loan payment each pay if surplus after bills funds available (0/2)

Side note: I'm still hoping to make friends and meet some folks in meatspace so please say hi!

Week 1 Updates:

 

GOAL 1: Diet. Averaged 1500 calories for the week but still either way over or way under target intake on non-gym days. Bleh. (4/28)

 

GOAL 2: Fitness. I managed it, though it was harder than I thought. Counting macros sucks. (7/28) Any tips on this would be much appreciated!

 

GOAL 3: Language: Unsuccessful. My local library does not have a lot of ebooks in Spanish. (0/4)

 

LEVEL UP MY LIFE: Debt. No dice. So surplus income this pay.   (0/2)

Week 2 Updates:

 

GOAL 1: Diet. Still averaging ~1500 calories for the week and finally hitting target intake for non-gym days. (11/28)

 

GOAL 2: Fitness. I've added in a daily protein shake, which has definitely been helping. Also, making protein pancakes is a major breakfast win. (14/28) Any tips on this would be much appreciated!

 

GOAL 3: Language: Still no success on finding new books. I think I may go back and re-read some books I've already finished. (0/4)

What about watching Netflix in Spanish? Especially if it's a movie or show you already know well, so you can get new vocab from context?

Week 3 Updates:

 

GOAL 1: Diet. Averaged ~1500 calories last week AND managed to keep my non-gym day intake within the set range. (16/28)

 

GOAL 2: Fitness. Sticking to the daily protein shakes and incorporating more chicken (and string cheese!) has really helped. (21/28) Any tips on this would be much appreciated!

 

GOAL 3: Language: I spent the weekend in Miami so even though I didn't read any books, I got to practice speaking Spanish, which was great. (0/4)

 

LEVEL UP MY LIFE: Debt. Saving to buy a home so this one if getting put on the backburner for now.  (0/2)

Week 4 Updates:

 

GOAL 1: Diet. Averaged just under 1500 calories last week. Hovered around 1400 on non-gym days all week so success. (23/28)

 

GOAL 2: Fitness. Kept up with my daily protein shakes and grabbing a crapton of meat (28/28) Any tips on this would be much appreciated!

 

GOAL 3: Language: I really didnt do well with this one. Womp. (0/4)

 

LEVEL UP MY LIFE: Debt. Saving to buy a home so this one if getting put on the backburner for now.  (0/2)

 

Final results:

 

GOAL 1: Diet.  (23/28) = 82%

 

GOAL 2: Fitness. (28/28) = 100%

 

GOAL Language:  (0/4) = 0%

 

LEVEL UP MY LIFE: Debt. (0/2) = 0%

 

My worst challenge so far. I need to adjust my Language and LUML goals to make them more accessible.
